You guys might recall that I did a Wisdom Panel DNA test on Charlie and Trigg a few months back. I had originally requested their "Optimal Selection" test which is what responsible and reputable breeders use to test their breeding cats. It really takes a deep dive into the cat's DNA and ensures that genetic diseases that are present will hopefully (because breeder removes cat from breeding program) will not be passed on.

Here's what Wisdom Health said when I asked about the coat:
"We do have a few other special coat genes we test for (rexing, hairlessness, Lykoi) but at this time have not developed a test for others. More mysteries of the kitties to be discovered!
Just a few points to make (I don’t think they are a big deal but I want to make sure you are aware):
The result for Mucopolysaccharidosis Type VI Modifier is only considered relevant if Mucopolysaccharidosis Type VI is also inherited; so it might be a coincidence that Trigg has some arthritic tendencies.
The gene for Gloving (found 1 copy in Ash) requires 2 copies AND Birman ancestry to be relevant. We see it occasionally in other breeds but for some reason it doesn’t affect them (another kitty mystery!!).
Regarding the blood type, these are so complicated that I still need to check with one of our vets to make sure I’m right!
The cats with results of A/b - the A allele is dominant, so even those who carry Type B alleles (denoted as "b") can have transfusions from genotype A/A - because both will be expressed as blood Type As. Also worth noting, this is not the same as Type AB, which is denoted by a "c" allele in our tests. And a queen with A/b should have low risk for neonatal isoerythrolysis when it comes to nursing kittens in comparison to a queen with b/b, or blood Type B."
