Optimise The Space Under The Kitchen Sink With GIANT Drawers

I decided the best way to use the area beneath the sink in my kitchen was to make two large drawers. The lower one is deep enough to store spray bottles and cleanser bottle upright, along with paper towel rolls. The upper drawer is around 9" deep and will hold a variety of items.
This is a great way to efficiently utilize a cabinet that is traditionally a catch-all for seldom used items and often poorly organized.
Video on fixing the drawer alignment:

What a brilliant idea!!! Under sink space is always so underutilized. What is so ironic is that you have been doing this work for decades with a lifetime of ideas, techniques, shortcuts and real world experience willing to share and pass on and yet you get such a minimal amount of views. Yet some 26 year old pretty girl with short shorts and a skimpy top will get sometimes millions showing how to nail some pieces of pine togethed. Thanks for the tips!

Would have been nice to see your plumbing under there behind those drawers. Did you have to make any accomodations there? The drawers appeared to be a pretty good depth, usually there would be complications I would think.

Good work. I like the idea of drawers under the sink. I am building a new kitchen for my wife and she insists there be no cupboards under the bench top, just drawers. With mine I built a return (or cut-out, not sure what the correct term would be) into the back of the drawer to allow for the waste pipe and take advantage of the full front to back space. It doesn't look like your setup would allow that, or perhaps not worth the effort for a small gain. Thank you for posting videos, without the information you have presented (over all your videos) I would never have attempted my project.

I just found out we in the states can’t by the LePage poly you use... I normally use Tightbond exterior glue for joints and banding... (and my shop IS heated!)

I've learned so much from your videos, John -- thank you. One question: I noticed you used 1/2-inch ply for these boxes -- is there a general rule you apply for the thickness of the material you use for drawer boxes? My default is 3/4 inch, but that's only because I see so many YT makers use it and I'm beginning to think I should be more flexible in my thinking. I like the sturdiness of 3/4 but sometimes it feels unnecessarily heavy for what I need. Thanks again.
