In this video I show you how to get the most out of your Qcon ProX display when mixing. It can be a bit confusing scrolling across dozens of tracks, especially if you don't have extenders, so using the Cubase track visibility functions you can be much more focused on the channels you need, making it much easier to keep track of where you are. If you enjoy this or my other videos please consider putting a pound or two in the tip jar at my BUY ME A COFFEE page.

I bought the Qcon Pro X when I was building my home studio (Moonhare Studio) in 2017 and I am currently using it to control Cubase Pro 10 on a 32gig Dell windows PC. Despite having a superb feature set and tough build quality, it suffers from a User Manual that is very light on useful guidance, some patchy support from Icon and a few quirks which I can live with. In fact it is now such an integral part of my workflow I’d be lost without it.
You can join me on Twitter, Instagram or Soundcloud and if you’re into like and subscribe rest assured I’ll upload lots of other helpful hints that I’ve learned along the way. Remember I’m just a home studio user trying to pass on information so don’t feel compelled to join the channel if your inbox is already bulging - just pop by every now and again and check on my health.

I recently purchase the Con ProX for use in Nuendo, and was about to put it up for sale until I watched some of your videos. Thank you for your in depth look at the controller, I think I'll keep it. Nice job.

No problem. I found it quite difficult to find information about this controller when I bought it so did as many videos as possible as I learnt what everything did not only to help others, but as a reference for myself. Hope it works out for you.

I just recently updated the firmware (needed to order a new panel, as button layout has been re-arranged) and there was a very nice surprise. They've added an extra function to the F keys! Besides the (shift) F1 to F8, they added a Layer button, so you can easily access the mixconsole configurations. (I think you could also program them (with a macro?) to the F keys)

I hadn't heard about that. Sounds really interesting. I'm about to upgrade to a dedicated audio PC and all the software mayhem that involves so once I'm back in production I am checking that out. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks a lot for your tutorials, I just got an Icon QCON Pro X and your videos have been very useful! If you had updated the firmware and you already have the new control buttons configuration, it would be great that you do more tutorials with this update!

Thanks for those encouraging comments. I am hoping to do a few more vids soon. I have a backlog of topics due to having to replace my main music PC and the inevitable round of reinstalling software and licences. I'll have a look at this as an idea for the future. Hope you're getting on well with your Qcon. Enjoy music making!
