i think this is wonderful. i was blessed to get home health...you hit on key hurdles of the stroke community. as i recover fully, i would love to give input. because we are all so different with varying layers of support. i have organized my own systems in ot to be more independent. the emotional needs are huge. i am in florida.

While my OT is telling me that I Should expect very little improvement after 18 mos. (I'm 20 mos out from CVA hemmorrhage now) I'm still seeing improvement weekly as long as I set my own goals . Im not hearing that other line.

Hi Deston! We are happy to hear that you aren't giving up on your goals despite what your OT has said. Progress is ALWAYS possible please remember that. You may experience minor setbacks from time to time, but that doesn't mean you've hit a permanent plateau. Keep doing what you are doing! We are proud of you for staying persistent during your recovery journey.

Hi Rebon - We are so sorry to hear about your father but are happy to hear that doctors are optimistic about his recovery! Given that every patient is different and recovers at their own pace, we cannot give you an exact timeframe for his recovery - it is best to listen to the advice of his therapists, as they will have a better understanding of his symptoms and will be able to evaluate his progress. However, what we can tell you, is that the more repeated exercise he performs each day, the faster he will recover. We hope this helps and thank you for tuning into our podcast. 💙

Hi Mariana - Carolyn is a great OT based out of Connecticut. You can learn more about her program here: www.strokeot.org/ If you are looking to learn more about Saebo products, we would recommend checking out the SaeboStep, which is an AFO alternative and foot drop brace designed to help you walk more comfortably. You can find this product on our website here: www.saebo.com/shop/saebostep/

How does this history help a stroke victim

Hi Ann! Good question. Our goal is to spread awareness and educate about various topics associated with stroke and neurological disorders. In this episode, Carolyn who is an experienced OT, talks about what she does to address the health disparities that many survivors face due to the way the healthcare system is set up. We often hear that stroke survivors are failed due to insurance and/or protocols in the facility they are treated in. By shedding light on Carolyn's program, we are bringing awareness to other forms of rehab out there that might be more beneficial to stroke patients who are told they've plateaued but actually haven't. We hope this helps and brings value to you and the survivors in your life!
