Great video! Can you please do a tutorial about bull put spreads and call debit spreads? How to find the entry and exit point, how to select strikes, DTE etc

This is a good series. I just realized that you're making these and so I am working my way through them. I will try to join you live on Thursday. I heard you recommending paper trading but I don't see the benefit of that as long as I'm placing defined risk trades, although to be fair there is a lot I don't know because I just started trading in April. But as an example I just bought a put trying to play an earnings trade on SOFI, it was $35 and if I lose it all it's not the end of the world. But I have found it very informative to watch that trade over the last week and I'm looking forward to watching it until the earnings report. Personally, my method of learning is to jump in and allow mistakes to happen so that I can learn from them. In general that has treated me well in life. Hell I lost money on my very first trade because I bought a call when I meant to sell a call because I did not have a good understanding of what I wanted to do. But I was able to quickly close it out and open the one I wanted so I didn't lose much. And now I will never make that mistake again.

I think it's a big mistake in trading to have to touch each flame with live money to realize it sets on fire but to each their own.

@@OutlierTrading I understand your thoughts, and I try to temper my mistakes with learning. Maybe it's more accurate to say I try not to make mistakes but when I do I take them as a learning opportunity. I learned the lesson and move on. Also when voluntarily learning something new I tend to be obsessed with taking in knowledge. The first week I started this I probably watched 40 hours of videos and ordered the book "options as a strategic investment". Plus, I understand the difference between defined and undefined risk. I have read through some of the posts on Wall Street bats and I don't understand how those people can lose so much so fast. I would never choose investments that are that risky and volatile. I think those people are addicted to the thrill of gambling. I don't mind gambling at cards because I am in control but slot machines are a waste of money. To me options are like poker, I want to have the knowledge needed to have an edge. But making plays purely on randomness is not for me.

Silly question. If you have the money to afford shares why by call options? With the premium aren’t they more expensive?

Not silly at all, completely fair question. Primarily comes down to capital efficiency and leverage (in the case of buying calls, you can control a much larger position with a much smaller amount of capital). You also stand to benefit if volatility expands.

@@OutlierTrading ah that makes sense so if I’m debating between just 1 call vs 100 shares that I can afford probably better to do shares but if I want more bang for my buck I could go 3 calls vs similar price of 100 shares which if I’m right much bigger profit potential. Thanks!
