Orange County, California, teacher investigated for joking students should pledge to pride flag 

I want to see what she would do if a student said they were uncomfortable with the pride flag.

If you have a good teacher, you will never know their political stance. They’ll argue both sides and allow you as the student to think for yourself. Taking away the flag and saying it makes you uncomfortable is unfair to the students who wish to pledge allegiance to the flag.

The worst teachers are the ones who promote their cult of personality. The best teachers inspire learning.

She's like a giggly immature teenager who cares much more about her ideologies than educating your child. would you have any confidence in her teaching your children?

Her saying the flag made her “uncomfortable” made me uncomfortable

She acts like a high school student, therefore she probably isn’t mature enough to be teaching them.

I went through middle and high school in the 90's...... out all those dozens of teachers I had in that 7 years, I couldn't tell you the political affiliation of a single one of them. I have no idea where my teachers stood on politics. Because a teacher's job is to teach kids how to think, not what to think.

I am not a US citizen, but I find this highly disturbing.Why is she allowed to teach kids with that state of mind? If she is not proud of her country,why is she still in the US?

Teachers need to teach. A find that a lot of teachers are now pushing their own agendas. School is for the students not for the teachers or professors. It gets really annoying when my chem teacher goes off about politics on a daily basis when they could be teaching us valuable things about chemistry(the dang class I signed up for). Teachers are pushing their own agenda as young as preschool. Some of these teachers push a wok curriculum that has nothing to deal with the development of young children. One teacher made a video saying how she taught her kindergarteners about sexual boundaries and that the student across for them is a different color. Kids this young could care less about how someone else looks, this woman agenda is taking away the innocence on children to early.

She acts more childish than the kids! Send her back to school!!!

Just one more reason why parents need to pull their kids out of the failing-public schools. Public school students aren't being educated, they're being indoctrinated.

Uhmm What is so uncomfortable with having the nation's flag in a room? I support all flags and respect all that they symbolize. But an educator enforcing her personal beliefs to the impressionable minds of the younger generation is utter disgraceful. Teaching is suppose to be a noble job, not a platform and medium to enforce one's belief. Teachers are suppose to lead the student's into the well rounded and accepting future society we want them to become and not be a source of hatred, divide, discord and confusion. Just a piece of thought- When your an English then teach your students how to write, speak and use the English medium well. When your a Math teacher, reinforce your students not to be afraid of math but rather embrace it in a manner that will mould the minds of the younger generation. You became a Teacher/ Professor with a specialization... stick to it when your at work. And when. you have a cause and belief you want to impart then use the proper avenue to do so. Do it in open talks or dialogues or even in your legislature assemblies. But leave the classroom behind. Its not the place to conduct it with.

She had no right to remove and hide away the flag which was not hers to take. It is the school’s, the community’s, and the children’s. To sneakily hide it away, hope no one notices, claim you are made uncomfortable by it (revealing her true “woke” motive for taking it down and not replacing it), claim she can’t find it (to cowardly to admit she is choosing to keep it hidden), then suggest her student pledge allegiance to the pride flag, is a disgusting attempt to indoctrinate her students with her own ignorant hatred of the American flag and the sacrifice and freedom it stands for. I am all for people supporting others sexuality and gender identity but this was completely inappropriate. It was inappropriate to take away their American flag and then associate the lack of that American flag with the pride flag, as though the two are mutually exclusive. As though supporting one precludes supporting the other.

You can still have pride to be an American and understand that we have issues in this country that we need to work on!

Disgraceful, the way she laughs and acts regarding this is repulsive. Merely being removed from the class is not enough, she needs to be fired. Her being uncomfortable by the flag is disgusting and she is more than welcome to go to another country where she might feel a bit more comfortable.

As someone who has an outside perspective to all this, since I wasn't born in the US and immigrated here. I'm fascinated how much self loathing some Americans have. They trash America while ordering their 4th soy latte from Starbucks. We have so many privileges here that others would literally die for to have. I love this country and my experience with other immigrants is the same.

Any teacher who is being paid by tax dollars and feels uncomfortable with the American flag should be fired .

Time for us parents that want to teach these children just how great America is to go back to school & actually teach these kids English, Science, Social Studies, Geography. You know the things children are supposed to be taught and not indoctrinating the children. This country is in serious trouble. I never thought I'd ever see America this way. Every country has a history behind their national flags, some stories surrounding the flag or the history may not be very pleasant but whether it’s a good story or not, or either you don’t feel represented or not it’s still a history that cannot be changed or erased because it’s based on the events that had happened at the time when many things were founded. I am an immigrant and i learned so much about the history of America and i am still learning and i love this country. i understand some of the things that had happened in the past were unpleasant and many country has similar history. some countries are founded upon bloodsheds and oppressions but history is a history, and just because I don’t feel represented doesn’t mean i try to change things and push my agendas to the people here. Flags represents a country and holds a story of that country either a good story or bad, it represents the freedom of the country, freedom that someone fought for this country, freedom from being colonized by another country, freedom from a bondage, it’s nothing to do with race, color or a community. You can’t blame the flag because you don’t feel free being a certain color, race or community. Being an immigrant I experienced some racism and rejections but do I need to blame the whole country as racist or blame the flag because someone got racist towards me, do i need to get mad at the flag and say “ oh you make me so uncomfortable because you don’t protect me and you don’t represent me” I would be so dumb and she sounds dumb and very troubling when she says the flag makes her uncomfortable. If she go to a country with that rainbow suspenders waving her LGBTQ flag and say your country’s flag makes me uncomfortable because it don’t represent me and see what happens. I am not against LGBTQs, I respect any color, race or community but I will not tolerate if anyone push their agendas on me or on my kids. I teach my kids to be respectful of everyone, I believe in the existence humanity and i am against any form of discrimination but i also believe in boundaries and limits, we all can live in peace and harmony without pushing one another’s agendas, we can disagree on things with respect and not argue, you don’t argue or fight because someone doesn’t agree with your beliefs or agendas.

I was coming into this video thinking the district were being uptight Karen’s, but seeing the full video, they did the right by firing her. It’s one thing to still have the American flag in the classroom with the gay pride flag and make a one off joke saying you can pledge to the pride flag, but to purposely remove your own nations flag because it makes you uncomfortable and then make the “joke” is just wrong. If you being American makes you uncomfortable, move to another country.

Weird that the American flag makes her uncomfortable. I'm actually concerned the teacher thought It was totally OK to suggest student pledge allegiance to the pride flag but not the American Flag which makes her uncomfortable that doesn't make sense. The symbol of America and its values and laws is what esstially allowed the pride flag to exist.
