Tom always seems to dial in the best tones for every amp he reviews to get the absolute best sounds possible. Others on the Rockerverb MkIII seemed to be too muddy/scooped, but this review is the one that confirmed why this is my dream amp
Nice review on the amp from someone who can actually play...that is refreshing!!! Great tones on the amp, both clean and gain. I think I'll get rid of one of my Carvin heads and get a Rockerverb. This thing sounds fantastic!!!
I was really into my fenders and marshalls and didn't really take a second thought about orange due to it's reputation of being a metal kind of amp. However for some weird reason I got curious and decided to check out their high end amps...... holy cow they sound amazing. It gives both fender cleans and marshall overdriven tones with it's own built in attenuator and reverb and also has a good reputation. Isn't this the dream amp?
I use a TC Electronic Gsystem that works great with it. Although I will admit you have to do your homework to get it to work correctly. There is a lot of tweaking on the G System. But there is a troubleshooting guide and this is the first system after 20 years of trying everything that I am sure will work for me for years. The Amp is a Heavy Beast, but well built
Two more questions and I'll stop bugging you. 1) I play hard rock and metal. Can I plug straight into this amp and get a good hard rock tone without additional pedals? 2) Do you like this thing enough that if someone stole it you would buy another one? Thanks for your time sir!
Hard rock and Metal try this one Orange Dual Dark 100 100/70/50/30 watt, Class A/B 2-channel High Gain Tube Head , Little Heavier for Metal. And Yes, if someone stole it I would buy another. Always play through an AMP before you buy it with your favorite guitar.
Amazing Amp and what great demo - you really captured the sound - but what effect are you using? sounds like a really nice delay in there? I bought the 50 Mk111 head and a PPC 2 x 12 closed back cabinet - the amp has been used once for a recording and once for a video but due to illness I can't lift it ! So its for sale !
Really a nice amp. I like both the facts that it is such a tight distortion and it's powered by EL34. The attenuator is a huge plus ! But ! I will bye the 50 watt version.... 100 watts is really over kill !
The dirty channel is not that different from a 6505, i tried friedman and well that is the best sounding amp i've heard it cleans up beautifully just awesome.
Friedman is The Best! I have a Friedman BE-50 Deluxe, with a Friedman 4x12 speaker cabinet, with 2 greenbacks on top, and two vintage 30's. Amazing and unbeatable setup. Puts Any Orange Amp To Shame. No comparison. Friedman and Metropolous Amps are The Best Amps To Buy!
For all you tube amp owners out there: I'm thinking of purchasing my first all tube amplifier but a bit hesitant due to the articles and videos I have read or seen on the maintenance and problems that may exist with the tubes. Being that a person gets a top brand, how reliable are these amps? How often must one invest in new tubes? Can you change out the same tubes without biasing so that one could do this themselves? Thanks people, Garry.
i am seriously considering this amp. however can you truly get a great tone at low volumes with the attenuation knob? i currently own the jim root model and i love it .. I've played live with it a number of times and its more than adequate ... however at home in my studio it pushes the fine line of comfortable volume when pushing it. to be honest to really get a good tone at home its just to damn loud! haha, so buying a 100 watt beast is not gonna work without the power soak option.. and if it works well that would be my deciding factor. from the video the cleans sound amazing which is not really the case with #4 JR model. one more thing i use the 212 orange cab. so if anyone has some experience with this amp your input would greatly appreciated. in short am i gonna be happy with this purchase should i pull the trigger?
If it's a true attenuator, it will allow you to play at lower volumes, but get that same beautiful tone you have fully pushing your amp with the volume cranked.
@@FLAMENCO961 I've been considering a new amp and the built in attenuator is a awesome additional feature for me same as for you. What do you think of the amp overall? I play anything from lead in a metal band to progressive to pop punk to country. What do think of it's range?
@@chrisknoblock this amp sounds fantastic, covers all that genres in my opinion, and with a lot of lush. The Reverb is very good and handy as well. The only amp I would choose over this is the Friedman JJ 100, but that one don't have Reverb nor the attenuator. Something very important you gotta bear in mind is the lack of a middle knobe on the clean channel, the bass kinda controls mids and bass at the same time which can get akward to me, other than that it is perfect
@@chrisknoblock also it does weight a lot but it is built like a tank, and the 50watter is a good option, you spend less on tubes and the sound and headroom are still pretty good
seems like the gain is a little weak. I heard a guy in a store playing some super heavy doom metal with just an Orange amp, no pedals... any idea what that might have been?
Can you do the orange super crush 100 please head & combo u do what a lot on RU-vid don't do for instance chords that bring out the notes within the chords and the natural of the instrument or amp I have the combo & if possible with a PRS S2 NITRO I have 1of those too I'm the last of my brothers and the last of our band STAND I got rid of all my rock star guitar Ibanez even the twins RT SERIES and I'm playing again or trying because of the two above mentioned items I name all my guitar and the s2 is in the most honor from the 1st time I strapped it on STAN after my friend mentor and chef I was a cook he passed away and the restaurant is TONY'S ITALIAN in Columbus Ohio on high & beck thanks for being u I have a lot of jazz box guitar because of you after STAND I play what I call BLUE JAZZ in Columbus Ohio on high street with an ORANGE CRUSH ACOUSTIC 30 & I GET PAID only thing I regret is man it eats batteries THANKS. Rockerverb mk3 100 used on this recording ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vt9fXc1ClaY.html this track has 3 different keys and this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jmlg1IzWC0M.html pretty much straight head tone no boosts or overdrives
It's part of the sound, i'd say. Took a lot of getting used in my case - having gone from a 1979 JMP 2204 to the RV50 MKII - but ultimately it won me over. The distortion's a bit more fuzzy in character. Also, when you crank the volume and the power tubes start saturating you get some monstrous, broken up, ballsy, facecrushing tones. Definitely geared more towards the metal end of the spectrum, and if you're expecting that crisp, driven marshall sound your best bet is - suprise - always a marshall.
Chris he said not versatile enough lol , about one of the MOST versatile amps on the market. What’s so versatile about it is the fact that it’s one of the few amps that have both a beautiful pristine clean and filthy metal distortion. Somewhere in the middle of those 2 extremes there’s a thousand mid gain crunch tones ........ add to that a killer reverb , effects loop and ATTENUATION down to 1 watt on any of the 4 wattage options 100/70/50/30 ........ tank like build quality from England. AWESOME!!!!
That guitar is goofy looking 😂 It would be nice to hear some heavier gauge strings, I always hate hearing the sound of things strings flapping against the fretboard
