orb weaver spider setup and care // uk spider Araneus diadematus #spider #uk
this little female came into the house so me being me , did a little research and made her a for ever home right in scotts inverts hq.
It's really important that if you do the same you take a pic and Google.image search to make sure it not the very rate marbled orb weaver that we have in the UK.
Happy spidering

I love spiders as a younger kid I’d allways own these cuties I’d allways cry when my mum made me let them go Now as a teen I own one at the moment he is sooo small and I’ve had him for a little while now he’s gonna get a lil friend soon

I've always called them Cross Weavers😊 The ones we've got here in Oregon look almost identical! Gorgeous!! I love catching bugs to toss into their webs. I had a lil juvi make it's web right outside my door and I'd break one corner to get out, lol. Every evening she'd remake it and this went on for 5 days! She finally moved just to the side of door and now is undisturbed. 💖

I finally got a female and a male in my flat. The male is at the massive 10 foot drop window. The female is living in my Monstera opposite which is quite a large plants. She was very careful and hid when I saw her. After a few days of talk she understood that I am no threat and can get right up to her. After she got used to me she started to expand her net and unfortunatley connected to my curtain which I broke when I opened the curtain I tried to talk to her again that this not a good idea and she stopped using the curtain after I broke her net twice. Then this time after that she made a massive net, and I mean massive and was sitting right in the middle as if she was proud to show me that she has learnt, when I came back home after night work. So I gave her two of my organically grown mealworms and she had some flies that day. Unfortunately one string was attached to the corner of one of my bird cages and I forgot that it was there and broke her net again.I talked to beautiful Elizabeth again and this morning her web was a bit smaller but in the right places for me not to break it.I love higly skilled predators as they learn so fast.I need to get me a compartment for her when I move soon.

Great vid mate. Got some of the biggest I've seen in a long time at the moment. Glad the bloody false widows haven't rocked their numbers too much (for now). Their webbing is abnormally tough; I knocked a broom over a few years back and an orb weavers web caught the thing mid-fall.

I feed it twice weekly flick a flightless fly on the webbing or small red runner they catch in there Web so free running insects on the floor would be almost pointless as they rarely leave the webb

Twigs or leaves hot glued up around a corner of the room works perfect, that's a lot nicer though! I wish I had an enclosure, I just found a really weird looking one I've never seen before, trying to decide on a corner lol. Looks like a snail shell, and makes a vertical line of boluses from the top of web to bottom as decoys or something. That time of year for sure, my I. mira has a parsons spider living with her now. I'm sure almost every spider has a wolf spider too now, had like 400 hatch out in here. Will be interesting as time goes on to see how many actually got away, and survived, damn things are tiny.

They tend to die towards the end of autumn unless you take them inside, mine from last year (the one in video) is still going.

This is such an interesting video!!! I want to have a cross orb weaver (that's how we call then in The Netherlands) as a pet too, but I can hardly find any information about their diet and how much they eat per week. Are there any things I need to watch out for when keeping a cross weaver as a pet?

Her web is attatched to it and she’d probably be killed. I would like to keep her, and I don’t know if they have simular care to these orb weavers or how often they should be fed etc..
