Orbea Rise H10 Review

I have the h15 with the piggy back on rear shock and love it my first ebike .. at 52 years young.... as you have described my type of riding in this video to confirm i made the right choice (never ridden a full fat ebike).... one point for me been in the UK where speed is limited to 15.5 mph (25kph) ... when I am above that assist level I definitely would not want a heavier bike than this ... fantastic video keep up the great work 👍

Thanks for the review. I have an M20, and I love it. I upgraded the tires and added inserts. I also had to upgrade my brakes. I went to Shimano Saint's. Now it corners just fine. 😎 I am right around the same weight, and I use all the travel in the shock even with a volume reducer. Thanks again looks like it's going to be the year of the light eMTB.

I own an H30 since January . Its my first FS ebike (was on a hardtail for 2 years) and its a great bike for me . Im an intermediate rider and i love my blues ! I went from the e8000 motor to the ep8 RS and im quite happy with the power . Overall a great bike!

Great review. One of the deciding factors in our purchase of a Pair of Rise, one H15 (fully up-kitted) and one H30.

I went with the h15 and love it. It comes with the fox x reservoir shock and the orbea shop I bought it from put a 160 air spring in the 36. So it’s now a 160/140 bike. I then put on 203 front and rear rotor adapters and my ripmo wheel/tire set!

It's the perfect bike for so many riders. An absolutely HUGE percentage of MTB riders does not live next to Whistler, and mellow terrain does not need a 63HTA fox 38 equipped bike. I do agree on the shock. I upgraded mine to a DVO Topaz since I don't like the DPS on any bike.

I found this review really helpful….thank you! I had pondered this sort of bike as an option rather then the Levo Expert I have ordered. But where I ride with very long and steep forestry road climbs followed by some pretty janky sections with rocky corners and root fest descents , I think the Rise would be a little under gunned based on your descriptions. Ditto for the new Trek Fuel lightweight ebike I think. One of each type (full fat and a lightweight) would be perfect 😏🤔. Though I suspect “she who knows best and must be obeyed” might not agree.

I love my H15, when the suspension is up for a service I’ll up the travel to 160 on the 36 factory fork. The shock is the float x factory and it soaks everything up. It’s such a lively bike to ride, great job Orbea.

I’ve had an M20 for 18 months in Bentonville and it’s perfect for nearly everything we have. I’m a big fan of the light weight ebikes and for those with even a bit of fitness you’ll find it’s plenty of power.

I am one of the many who went w/ a long shock and a ton of upgrades. Fox Factory fixins w/ a DHX2 rear, Fox 38 160 up front. XT 4pots w/ MDR-P Rotors 220/203, RF Next-R Bars/ Turbine-R stem, Specialized Power Pro saddle, 210mm oneup dropper, SRAM X01 Drivetrain, XT 160mm Cranks, SC Reserve 30's wheels w/ hydra hubs and Scwalbe Magic Mary (f)/Eddy Current (r) 29x2.6 super gravity casing tires.

I almost bought one. I was going to put a 170mm 38, float x2 with longer stroke. I think it's around 162 mm rear travel after you put a 27.5 wheel in the rear. The bottom bracket will be at original height when done. After looking at money invested into that project, I just bought a gen 3 levo. Anyway look up mtb Mike, he did that to his rise.

I think if Orbea did a rallon-e with the hydro rise setup they would have a winner, as long as the frame holds itself together without cracking.....

160/160 M series for me and loving it.

I've had an M10 for almost a year now and love it. The only issue I have experienced is a creaking sound that I think I have addressed. The H models were not available when I purchased and if I was purchasing now, I would probably opt for the H15 for the larger battery and overall price point. My Rise rides very much like my beloved analog Reeb Squeeb (with a notable exception going uphill, of course LOL). Fast, fun, playful. Love this bike -- can't go wrong with the Rise.

It is a freak'n Rocketship for us XC bombers who love the zip and flail. Suspension upgrades NOT needed. Yes wheel upgrade as some point. Yes shorter crankarms asap (hey, it has a motor, less personal torque needed.) XT all the way! Other bikes, other brands, other ebikes in particular, ride like overloaded tugboats in heavy weather conditions. Ya hearing me?

I was tempted to go full fat shuttle embt, but i think keeping that side as a manual and to have a trail embt for local laughs is the way to go. Depends on your local terrain i guess, i have to travel quite far to find big features.

Best bike breakdowns on the web man. Okay if you had to choose the Fuel EXe or the Rise, which one would it be?

Still debating if I want to buy the lower end Rise, add a bigger 160 fork, swap out the shock for a 150 with a reservoir or just go with the full power YT Decoy

I have the rise h15 with the float x with max volume spacer. I'm 85 kg and love a plush shock, currently running 180psi around 30 percent sag, the ramp up on the float x with the big spacer is perfect for me but it's still really supple on the initial stroke. Also put a 160mm performance elite fork and a shorter stem, it's just about where I want it now. I'd say I lean towards aggressive trail riding so it does everything I want it too. The upgrades made a notable difference.

When I get one ill be going for a longer stroke coil on the back and 160 up front

Great review as always! I have the H15 with the float X Kashima and Fox 36 grip 2. I'm 195lb with kit and ride super aggressive. I borrowed my Fox 38 160mm from my Ripmo and loved it on the Rise H. Then I bought the 2023 Zeb Ultimate and it's been a game changer. The rear suspension is good, but does feel harsh sometimes when landing from a big jump or drop.

Hey, great video thanks ! I have two questions : Is the cost savings on the alloy version worth the additional 2-4 kg of weight (depending if H30, H20 or H10 version) when riding downhill? Does the alloy version experience the same rear triangle cracking issues as the carbon version?

I have a H10 and mine it's with fox 34 140mm. But unfortunately the bike it's almost all the time in the orbea garage: some cracking noise from linkage-it's how I was discovered the bike was without grease🙄, after the bizzare noise from bracelet and now from motor 😢 I was bought the bike in March and now the summer pass and I stay without the bike!!! The orbea answer me if I have more problems it's from shimano part not from them🙃

I really like this bike. My wife has a Powerfly 9.7 LT and we are debating selling it and getting her a lighter bike. The H15 is on the radar and by the way it comes with a piggyback float x.

Would you recommend this bike in enduro style terrain type Squamish BC (not talking about Whistler Bike Park)? I live in Squamish and am interested in ebike for whenever I'd go riding in California that has tons of never ending access roads before reaching out the trails but would like to use this ebike around where I live from time to time as well. (I already have a standard enduro bike). Asking the question as I am not extra interested in the much more bulkier and heavier full fat ebikes.

Question. I just bought a Gen 3 Levo. After 341 miles the chain broke. I decided to replace it and the new chain won't mate with the cassette because it's so worn after so few miles. I had to get a new chain and a new sram eagle cassette that cost me nearly 300 bucks. When the hell is Shimano Link Glide gonna actually be available? Drivetrains for ebikes simply suck. Now I'm looking at getting rid of Eagle and going back to 11 speed or something so I can actually afford to replace the stuff when it prematurely wears out.

I've got a young one at home. I have time for a fat bike with 5psi in the tires length of ride (workout)

Good review but am I right about the motor. Re:you buy an SL style MTB and are left lugging around the same motor weight and dimensions size as a full power MTB but detuned ?🤔

How tall are you and did you find yourself wondering if you should go XL frame?

Surprised you got Galfer rotors! My H15 came with downgraded Tourney rotors which was annoying. That said, I love my H15 but it went on a serious upgrade. Put on SRAM GX AXS, Code RSC brakes with HS2 rotors and Reserve 30|SL carbon wheels. It rides well but the performance suspension is not the greatest. Still have to work on tuning that. I spent too much on upgrades but that was because Ordea kept delaying my custom order. Gave up and bought a base in stock bike then started to change stuff…

For roughly the same price, which is the way to go? Carbon frame to save weight (but lower spec), or Aluminum frame to get upgrade on components (but heavier)? I’m thinking the weight difference is mostly contributed to the larger battery rather than the frame material (but that also increases range). And finally, Orbea Rise or Trek Fuel EX-e???

@theloamwolf Any chatter from the motor? The ep8 was commonly known to have chatter while descending or going over rough terrain, but not sure if it's still an issue with the ep801?

I bought an Orbea Rise M10 with the Vault hub. After 8mths and limited rides I was getting a loud pinging noise from the rear hub. On inspection I found that the teeth on the Vault hub were rounded along with the pawls. Clearly the hub is not fit for purpose on an ebike and I do not understand why Orbea are fitting standard mtb components on ebikes!!! The loads incurred on an ebike rear hub are massive compared to that of a conventional bike. So at considerable expense (£450) I have changed out my rear hub to DT Swiss who actually make ebike compatible hubs.

Nice review, unbiased. How do you think this bike would perform for a 200 lb rider? I like to ride for 3 hours or so and do 20 plus miles of trail riding. I think I would like the lighter, poppier bike as I feel I am having to put a lot of effort in jumping my current bike, however I feel like I would have battery anxiety. What kind of range does the extender give and is it even available with all the supply chain issues? Currently my bike has a 750 watt battery and a Brose motor at 90 nm. It is pretty heavy at 54lbs. I am looking for a new bike as I snapped my frame in half on the seat post. Covered by warranty I hope but I have had so many issues with it and I am ready to move on to something new. Really enjoy your reviews.

I'm assuming that there is still that drag/friction when the motor is off? your pick, Rise RS vs Trek Fuel EXe?

If you still have this bike, you guys should put a 38 on it and a piggy back shock with meatier tires and review it again!

Whats the difference between all the H10, 20, 30 and M10,20,30 series?

I own a Riese H15, I’ve tried to convert it to an Enduro with a coil shock, 160mm Zeb, DH tires but I confirm it remains a “more capable trail bike” and not a DH shredder as a Kenevo SL. Anyway the motor and the range you can get from the battery are exceptional. Do you know when the Enduro version of the Rise will be presented?

How is the range on this? Should be better than a M10.

Any ideas on what size I should get. I’m 6’1.5”.

Hi, would you buy this bike or the Rise? Very confused at this point!!

I don't quite see the point if this type of bike. It's not that much of a difference from full power ebikes. This alu Rise weight aprox 5.5 kg less than my alu Wild fs, and much of that weight must sit in my larger battery and to some degree beefier components. If I downgraded forks and put in a smaller battery, the difference would probably be a couple of kg, and we must ask ourselves how much of a difference that really makes. A lot have to be placebo and of course the difference in geometry that makes any bike unique. I've no doubly that what makes a Rise playful is due to the trail focus as opposed to enduro/all mountain focus of the Wild. I think lapierre with the fazua is on the right track with the e zesty that has a removable motor and battery, but the unit is too small/weak. It only offers a 3 kg weight loss, and that seems small compared to the loss of the motor. I would have liked a removable motor and battery with full power, to give me the option of either full power ebiking or a light normal bike. No half measures in between. Anyone else agree on this, or is it just me?

Outrageous price. Can't wrap my head around a bicycle costing as much as a new dirt bike. I'll wait until it's half off.

I have an H15. This was my first ebike and was rather disappointed with the power cut at 18mph instead of the regulated 20mph. I took my first ride on a gravel course just to test it out. I was actually slower on this than my gravel bike. Disappointed! STEPS app doesn't allow you to adjust speed limit or even wheel circumference (if you wanted to change tires). Ultimately I went through the hassle of derestricting it. It's actually enjoyable now. Hard cutoffs on ebikes are disconcerting killjoys. (Ugh, and to imagine Europeans have it worse!)

I do not find much sense in this concept. You gat the same motor with the same size and weight but with less torque. I would prefer Fazua or TQ approach - less torque but also less weight.

I don’t know why people buy alloy Ebike. It’s still heavy af and stupid
