I do this now, I used to deliver for amazon and I live in the south so it’s Nothing but big lawns, country dirt roads dogs and hot sun, so physically this job doesn’t bother me as much. But I hate the co workers. I understand we’re all trying to make money and hit production. But you have to be mindful that you’re staff is going to almost always be new. You got vets yelling and honking at people literally on their first week. And everyone has a vest who’s new so it’s not like they don’t know. Just a bad vibe if you can’t block out that type of stuff.

The person that keeps the slots that he's picking from stocked is labeled a replenisher This guy's title is more than likely a order selector After he is done with his pellets he puts him in a special designated area in place for the loader this is what I used to do The majority of the time each pellet is for one stop for the driver they could be up to three or four stops to each pellet when you wrap it with plastic wrap you have to label it on there so the driver knows which is which

As a loader at my job I'd take this pallet any day over some sketchy ass pallets. Most people be all speed but no quality so their not the ones dealing with it once it's done unless we tell the selector to restack but most times were the ones stuck with doing it ourselves.
@xqeze
@xqeze 10 месяцев назад
Yeah, I load as well so that does make me a more considerate selector. Often if I have a small pallet I try to level it or if its just a scratch run Ill throw it onto another load that's already on the dock. It sucks having an entire pallet of juice spill in a trailer.

@xqeze6849 yeah true I also try to ask selectors to limit to one pallet even if the shot is small only because we as loaders have to add other stuff as well for me at my job I'd have to add supplemental stuff , Candy and sometimes if the pallet is too tall I have to downstack so yeah it always helps out having one pallet

@xqeze
@xqeze 11 месяцев назад
I don't do that as much anymore because of the section I'm in, but I don't see a difference. I might sometimes loose time walking back a little further. However, I gain it back being able to walk straight across instead of around my jack, I don't have the rack in my way and I can more easily build the front of my pallet. However, I didn't really do it to save time, it was more out of convenience. Especially in produce where id stack the plastic crates. They are easier to stack without the rack in the way. Everyone, has a way they prefer and sometimes I prefer building on the back. Not saying it's the best way, it's just what I sometimes do.
@Lucifer___-
@Lucifer___- Месяц назад
Not at all. If you’re skilled enough, you can ride the pallet jack until you reach the location with your body, hop off right in front of the locatarios, and let the pallet jack roll until your back pallet is aligned with the location and yourself.

Going to a hiring event on the 1st. Is this job worth the pay?
@xqeze
@xqeze 2 года назад
I think so. But you need to be someone who isn't bothered by a bit of muscular pain. It's a job you must condition yourself to and stick with for a while before it becomes easy. If you aren't super fit than it's going to take longer. When I started I had to skip every break and take short lunches just to keep up with time. I had trouble getting out of bed and walking until my muscles loosened up. It took me 6 months till I could take my breaks and still make standards. It took about a year before I was fit enough and fast enough that it seemed easy. I still feel pain but I recover much quicker. Weather or not it's worth it depends on you. I would endure any physical pain to avoid ever serving a customer again.

@christiangonzales3642
@christiangonzales3642 Год назад
I've worked many warehouse positions like order picker, loader, unloader, inventory control, shipping and receiving, and even supervision. It takes a toll on your body and mental state long term. It's easy for younger people to think they can do this type of work forever, but once you start to see all the unappreciation from management, unrealistic productivity numbers, low staff, injuries, prolonged freezer and cooler environments for 12 to 16 hour days, repetitive work with no incentive to be creative, and the high turnover rate; you will realize the regret you will feel wasting your years when you could have gone for a career that can utilize your full potential in using your brain. Warehouse work will make you feel like a robot. And management positions are not better. You just get paid higher for dealing with more stress and the same tasks you did in your starting position. Work your way to a trade or college if you see yourself in something more creative and rewarding. Warehouse work is a very depressing field. I've been in your shoes starting out and endured the stress for 3 years. Ain't worth it.

There's a guy who I've seen work for several days without stopping. I asked him how he did it. He told me that he doesn't think about how long he's been there or how long he's going to be there. He just focuses on when that next break is. When he isn't working 2 or 3 days without rest and hes just working 16 to 18 hours he might only get 1 to 3 hrs of sleep a day but when he's off he makes it up with 10 or more hours of sleep. But just stay focused on the present. I use this technique, too. I don't work as much as him, but I've worked every day this month, 14 hours a day, for most of it, and it works. Don't think about how big an order is or how many cases. Just pick up that next box. Just grab 1 at a time, and that'd all you're thinking about. Be only in the very present. You aren't in tomorrow or yesterday. You are here and now, and there is nothing else. This job requires more mental strength than physical. I see physically strong people not succeed at this job every day because mentally, they are weak. They are complainers and excuse makers. I see the smallest scrawniest women and men, old and young, succeed at this job because mentally, they are massive. Yoda said, "Do or do not, there is no try."

@@xqezeyou couldn’t have said that any better bro , I love selecting some days but other days use to be so frustrating I don’t let it stress me out as much now since I’ve gotten way better and it’s like second nature , but in the beginning I was ready to quit.

God I hate plastic pallets
@xqeze
@xqeze 2 месяца назад
Yeah, some people really hate them. Especially in the freezer because they slide off their forks when they get icey. I like the plastic because it's just quicker to throw on my forks. If there was wood set up for me to just roll into and go, then I'd probably prefer that instead.
@kasper3983
@kasper3983 2 месяца назад
Exactly my reason, except not in the freezer. I did eggs last week and thats all they had in there, the eggs are also in plastic so it was rough, ended up putting slip sheets under them and fixed it though. Great video by the way!

@@xqeze He’s right about the upper pallet when you rushed. There’s a lot of gaps, you’re lucky you used a pallet as a slip sheet on that one haha.
@xqeze
@xqeze 2 года назад
@@wonderingobserver2231 I agree it's the wrong way to do it without slips. But it requires less thought and can be faster than cross tieing in that particular section. I cross tie and don't use slips in other sections. This is how I've done it in cooler for years and I've never spilled more than 1 or 2 boxes. It's just as solid as a good cross tie with them slips.

He doesn't get paid to make pretty pallets. If his stacking was terrible he would have lost the load you genius. The stacking was just fine.

that wrapping is terrible also right when u hit a corner that thing all gonna fall!
@xqeze
@xqeze Год назад
It was solid enough It wouldn't have fallen even if I hadn't wrapped it. You sound like someone who refuses to use a roller to wrap with. I bet you use both hands and pull as tight as you can. Because you're so paranoid from all the times you spilled as a new hire. The problem is if you built a bad pallet then it's going to fall regardless if you wrapped supper tight or not. The only way wrap does anything to save your load is if you make multiple overlapping wraps in the same spot and spend over a minute wrapping. It's not worth the wasted time. I may have been a little sloppy building that particular pallet. However it was never near falling. I haven't spilled a pallet in years and I wrap just as shitty everytime. Take your wrap paranoia and learn how to stack so you can stop wasting 30 minutes of your day wrapping loads.

@@xqeze What's wrong with preferring hands over rollers? Lol it depends on the warehouse though, some warehouses require pallets to be wrapped from top to bottom (no gaps) with at least 2 layers of overwrap (If your hands/fingers aren't burning you're not doing it right mentality). I work in receiving so we have to make our wraps good and tight so it doesn't fall on the Reach drivers when they're putting them up in the racks.
@xqeze
@xqeze Год назад
@ONYX you need better reach drivers. But yeah it's a debate at my warehouse. Some people wrap with rollers some with hands. But the ones who hand wrap make a big deal about how tight their wrap is and wanna come tug on my pallet and talk shit. When if they just built a solid pallet they wouldn't have to use all that effort and time on something that doesn't matter. They look stupid walking backwards or crouched over pulling as tight as they can. I don't have to bend over to wrap the bottom. Really the only place that needs to be tight is the middle and it's not going to go anywhere. Wrapping the bottom is pointless and gives zero structural support so it's rare that I wrap all the way. If a reach driver is going to spill. They will do it regardless of how tight that wrap is.
@AS_ONYX
@AS_ONYX Год назад
@@xqeze It’s not the Reach drivers themselves it’s just the company excuse for why to wrap them that tight. To be fair though my warehouse is mainly furniture and home goods so the precaution can be understandable for how heavy some of the stuff is.
