@AYO Fishing you should pick a part of the pond and put some pea gravel for the spawn next year, and eventually buy crawfish. That might help the fish.
Good man! I did the same thing some 15 years ago. In the future, throw the dead ones as far out as you can. The bass hit them like crazy, and it gives the live ones time to get cover.
Tremendous effort! your enthusiasm and dry humor is very entertaining! a small cast net ($50) and an aerator ($10) in a good size coleman cooler ($30) and you could stock your pond with native alabama minnows over and over and over... not to mention live line a few for some lunkers...
Oh yes i forget what the show was called but there was a tv series where a guy set out to get stung by every insect ( he had massive balls ) and the cow ant was one of them it has an enormously long sting. And yep it put him on his ass very painfull.
first time watching this guy cause this was on my recommended and from just the first 1 minute i know this channel is gonna be right up my alley lol, subscribed
The name cow killer is just a nickname as it has also never killed a cow for real..the true name is velvet ant/wasp ...i believe it is like number 4? on pain index ...extremely worth the girlish scream lololol
My husband thinks I'm weird watching fishing shows, but I like it, my boys like it, I'm trying to teach them to fish, so I'm just glad this community exists. You're fun to watch!
I bought a track of land with a stocked pond that hadn't been fished in 20 years. I wanted to get an idea of what was in there. I reached out to my local wildlife enforcement office and they directed me to a biologist working within their office. After a quick conversation he was out the next day with a small Jon boat with a bottle of fish stunning chemical. There was not a single bass over 1-2 pounds, tons of bass and large bluegills, there just wasn't enough food to support the population. He came back the next weekend and we culled about 100 pounds of fish out. It's been 6 years ago and now the average bass is 3-5 pounds. So keep culling and restock with forage fish. Hope you the best of luck with your pond.
@@BiffBuffchest lol yep, it happens plenty but they still tend to get worked up quick when it's tons of video...ever see the other one on RU-vid that placed fish into an "abandoned" pond lol. I'm all for it if it's ok, but yea people need to know that it can be a bad idea legally sometimes, too lol.
It is a good idea to add fresh water to that bag, while they acclimate. The water in the pond has much more O2 than the bag water at this point, every minute counts. The dead fish are decomposing which makes the matter worse.
Love these stocking videos. Cant u go to a public lake with a castnet to get shiners? Thats a whole video right there of you learning to castnet, from a kayak possibly 😄
I am a city girl that never usually gets to experience the good ol outdoors and for some reason I love watching your videos I have nothing in common with you or know anything about fishing but I think your videos are hilarious and you have a great personality. RU-vid is a weird place lol
Email him (not comments) and ask him to take you to a couple of places fishing. Get yourself a hotel room near airport or wherever safe. Idk how far away you are. He can make a video and have company from a fan (huge ego lift). You can experience fishing with someone who is fun. You both have public and private time. If you feel respected and honored then do it again. If not, thank him and wave goodby. So, email him. Then research what you need to take with you fishing (outdoor clothing, bugspray, hat, toiletries, knife, shoes or boots, mace, and so on). A woman walked by my son when he was 6 or 7 and said it's supposed to rain, not a good day for fishing. My son didn't even look at her. He firmly declared, "Everyday is a good day for fishing!" -And that is fishing lesson #1. Every day is a good day for fishing.
I know nothing about restoring a pond but I have faith in your dedication to do it. 🤗. So 😎 to see you happy 😊 and thriving again! BTW, I FINALLY bought a kayak. Will be nice to be off-the-bank again, except for the 🐊🐊🐊.
Awesome idea!! great video! but bluegill and feeders would have been MUCH much better for bass fishing. Shiners eat roe and deplete zooplankton levels. They also only spawn periodically and bluegills spawn once a month like clockwork, allowing for much better and more natural bio diversity
Interesting stuff about how many bass need to be REMOVED from a pond to keep it healthy. Most of the time everyone is just focusing on putting more and more fish into the pond. Excited to see more updates - keep up the good work!
Agreed - I wasn't really aware until I started researching DNR info on managing small ponds for a pond I just got with my new property. A lot of great info out there on this I was also never aware of.
Following this series hard badge! Let's see those dinks grow into some decent fat Sally's by next year! Buddy of mine just got a place with a pond all solid 1 to 1/2 lbs I'm getting ready to order my Amazon shiners now!
I’m new to your channel and love your videos. When I saw you were at 99.9 I just had to tap that subscription button. Glad I could help you reach your goal of 100k. Keep producing great content especially for guys like myself who can no longer fish (doc says heart too weak to take a chance)
That's cool as hell man. Hope it turns around and you have yourself a pond full of fat bass. I've actually looked at live bait on Amazon as well, was thinking the same thing, no way its going to work. That's cool it did.
Feed them skinny sallies. Screw the haters. Your a legend bro always love the content. Mainly don't even care if u catch anything always good laughs just watching u do your thing. Keep wackin
Being from Arkansas I would love to see you and LOJO do a collaborative video on Lake Ouachita in Hot Springs, Arkansas. They have some of the fattest sallies and even some bigger striper/hybrids. They also hold a box spear fishing tournament every year for flathead catfish.
You spent a couple hundred on the fish, how much more would it have been to expedite the shipping to overnight or two day? Would the difference in the amount of money lost on dead shiners vs live ones be enough to justify a faster delivery time?
Are they always bagged in such high numbers? Aquarium fish are sent the same way but never in such high density levels. That level of attrition would be disastrous and unacceptable in the aquarium trade.
The females are wingless...and have one hell of a sting...the males have wings and are for the most part harmless... 😲 Sounds an awful lot like another species I know ..
I saw one of those cow ants crabbing one year and when I was younger. No one believed me. It's great when people don't believe what you say. That was a little sarcasm. Now I know how people feel when they see Sasquatch and no One believes them. LOL
That cow ant is a wasp with a sting from hell. We had a few of them at my local airport. Good video buddy. It the second one I've seen from your channel. Keep up the good work man.
This is kind of a backwoods idea, but have you ever considered suspending a shallow bucket with a raw piece of meat inside it from an overhanging branch or a tripod built out of tree branches in a shallow part of the pond to feed the fish? Blue and green bottle flies will find the rotting meat and lay thousands of eggs that create thousands of protein rich maggots that will climb up the sides of the bucket and then fall into the water. You can raid the dumpster from a restaurant, the more meat, the more flies, and maggots. I'm in Kansas, the bass will eat anything here.
Man this is just what i needed after a long day at work.. I cant wait until i get myself to the position to fish with you.. 🔥 as always. #doublebuttondup
The fish that you bought on Amazon should be good. I bought 3 fish for my aquarium that shipped from Florida and I live in California. All 3 were alive and well and still thriving in my 100 gallon aquarium
That was entertaining and a good thing to do for that pond. Unfortunately where I live, unless that's a private pond it's illegal to stock any type of fish into the pond. It's also illegal to transplant live game fish from one watershed to another *unless they are going from a private pond to a private pond. Makes doing good work like this impossible up here in my neck 0f the woods. I am curious to see how it all turns out.
@@scottsweet501 In my jurisdiction they classify game fish and they also classify bait fish - in both cases you can't transport and introduce EITHER a game fish or baitfish from one watershed into another. Not saying this relates to all States or Provinces - but it is what it is ...
@@cluelessbeekeeping1322 If you had any common sense or critical thinking skills you would know why they don't want you to take fish from one place to another. Right now, Asian Carp are threatening to wipe out the Great Lakes. It's an invasive species, and because some douchebag released a few in his pond and a flood managed to allow them into the Mississippi River, the Ohio and Alleghany Rivers are being overtaken because the damn Carp reproduce so fast and eat so much. Millions of dollars are being spent on systems to try to stop them from entering Lake Erie, but even a quarter-mile of electrified water didn't work.
@@pamike4873 i def hear ya and am equally exasperated at the bighead/ silver carp situ, being in ctrl IL, however the electro fence in chicago is a 'red herring' , pardon the pun= lake Michigan is far to eutrophic to support a population of A carp being the plankton filter feeders they are...hopefully the same holds true around Erie PA and surrounding areas...we can only hope they don't end up like the illinois river....
I’ve had those big ones float around for a while then all the sudden gone. You may try letting them out in a different container with water pumped from the pond and after they got their strength back turn em lose in the pond.
I’ve bought several times from Anderson Farms. They are a really good source for bait fish. Don’t worry about the dead ones, the Bass will eat them too. Good luck.
I just found this channel. This guy makes me laugh like hell! 😂😂😂 I’m sure you know but you can order fish at an ag store or extension agency. They typically have scheduled days when they will be in your area.
A real cheap bait fish that breeds like us crazy is your regular petstore guppies even the fancy guppies. I had a 30 gallon tank that i threw like 25 regular and 15 fancy guppies in to stock for feed for my gar in my larger tank. Well within a year there were thousands and thousands, the tank looked like a squirming ball of just fish and that was with me taking alot out daily to feed my fish and turtles. Well years later i ended up dumping them all into the little brook at the end if my street and the population really took hold there. You could always see them swimming along the shore even years later.
a high compliment to pay, you're a funny man, setting aside all of the master adventures you cook up, ide pay to see you do stand up, and all you need to do is tell your stories, you NEVER fail to entertain, thanks for the humor.
Ok you said you was in Georgia then said Alabama hmm I think your trying to hide this lake from me i drove all over Georgia because I know GA really well south GA around Coolidge anyway but didn't find lake yet oh but im looking lol jk bro
yo youre hilarious dude, keep up the good work, just a bit of work and that pond can be a killer secret spot in 2-3 years.. if you add plants in and around the pond it will attract a bit more bugs for fish to feed on and help keep the water clean for good visibility
Just saw the video. Have you thought of jumbo leeches? I don't know about where you live, but here in MN, they seem to travel and last much better than any baitfish. Best of luck, love the videos!!
I’m gonna start fishing again because of you AYO. Still a beginner but I just moved back to Idaho from LA and my love for the outdoors is coming back 🤙🏽
Really enjoy your channel. As a fishkeeper, it looks like your fish were overstocked. In this case, normally you'd get them out that water immediately. Ammonia levels will spike incredibly as soon as oxygen gets in. Great work, keep it up!
I just added some minnows and shiners from Anderson's yesterday into my pond. I had about the same amount of dead loss as you did. How is the pond doing now?
Unfortunately the owner of the pond asked me to not film his property any more and asked me to never come back. But I am looking for another pond now!!
Damn Bezos said I’ll do whatever changes the world and people’s lives..... but damn you can order live bait on Amazon????? PS. Someone was watching out for you when that scumbag went up your leg. Duck weed mate Duck weed. I guess he also likes to restrict O2
Is that not illegal and also transporting from one spot to another? Just curious I pretty sure it is illegal here in Wyoming bro. Butt I don't know the laws were you are at.
