That is awesome.. MANY years ago a friend of mine put a a Ford tractor engine and trans' in his F-150, to get this kind of result.. And it was a slow crawler.. And bad ass..

That's cool! In Chile South America, we put a Diesel 1.8TDI in my Isuzu Trooper for the fuel efficiency and torque benefits. It ran/pulled like a little tractor. The Marlin Crawler T-Cases are a whole other level though. Maybe one day I get one in my 4Runner...

When did toyota ever go off the map?
@EricJemAndes
@EricJemAndes 6 лет назад
I'm really not sure. I think Marlin was more referring to trying to bring the Toyota reputation up closer to Jeeps (back in the early 90's) for being a powerful platform for rockcrawling.

Very informative vid!.. i was thinking about an inchworm Lefty For my Fj cruiser , but im thinking im going to go with my original choice... Marlin.. but i didn't really see it in your line up on the Marlin Crawler website. Should i be looking in the "built units" section?
@EricJemAndes

Thanks for the compliment Tony! I'm glad you found the video informative. It looks like you do need to go to the built units to find all of the single/dual cases, and complete units. www.marlincrawler.com/transfer-case/built-units If I'm wrong though, please let me know.

You would have to ask Marlin Crawler direct through their email, or by calling. However, as far as I know, they only make their low range multiple T-Cases for Toyota's.

What happens if you WOT with those reductions? Will you break axles, differentials, transfer case, driveshafts ?
@EricJemAndes
@EricJemAndes 6 лет назад
Sorry Esteban, but I don't understand "WOT". However, like any high torque output assembly, if you bind something and keep trying to power through, you could break other components such as those you mentioned. That being said, with a dual, triple, or quad case transfer case, since your rate of speed is so low, under most circumstances you would have plenty of reaction time in a binding situation to stop the truck and put it in neutral. Eliminating the potential breakage.
@estebanamador7601
@estebanamador7601 6 лет назад
Eric McGrew thank you. WOT = wide open throttle
@EricJemAndes
@EricJemAndes 6 лет назад
My Pleasure! Thank you for the comment. Now that you spell it out, I've actually seen that acronym before. It just didn't register. Of course apply throttle=more torque could cause breakage in some cases. However, I've never heard of WOT causing a breakage just by hammering down in a parking lot or on a general trail. Under a heavy bind possibly, but under "normal" circumstances it seems unlikely. The guys over at Marlin Crawler would know better. You might like to contact them. If you find out anything on this topic from them, then I would like to know. Thanks again!- E.M.

Well now they have crawl control guess you dont need this anymore?
@EricJemAndes
@EricJemAndes 6 лет назад
Well, Technology is always progressing, but there are almost always people and who need something more robust. Crawl Control is great, but it still mainly uses electronic systems to control the braking, and transmission system to keep the wheels from spinning. For anybody who does serious rock crawling, Crawl Control isn't going to be their go to. Marlin Crawlers, and other dual (multiple T-Case systems) will be around for a long time. As it is, these systems are pricey enought that for most people to buy them, they have to be a serious wheeler. Crawl Control (at this point)can't provide the same level of control and strength in the OEM package that is being provided.
@stevegriffith6478
@stevegriffith6478 6 лет назад
The problem with crawl control is it is not a gear reduction system. What ever your factory low range is, is your gear reduction. There for when you put it in crawl control it moderates the throttle and brakes to try and find the fine line between power and traction witch does not always work. It’s harder on drivetrain parts when used in the real world of rock crawling. The point to having duel cases is to lower the wheel speed well increasing torque. I have seen crawl control loose it’s mind on technical trails. Go back to the old KISS method ( keep it simple stupid) is what my dad would always say. Can’t beat old gear drivin transfer cases
@EricJemAndes
@EricJemAndes 6 лет назад
Hey Steve! Some how, I totally missed your comment. Thanks for bringing out these points. You are completely right. Especially about actually creating torque, and about applied stresses on oem components. Funny thing is, is that the exact components that crawl control is adding stresses too, are the exact ones that you really don't want to fail while being on the trail. Especially if you doing tech rock trails. I personally feel that crawl control is really designed for that level where having a locker is over kill for the owners use, but being without some traction creating system would leave you stranded. It's definately for serious wheelers, or hardcore rock crawling. Thanks again for adding to the conversation!
@d1sturb3d119
@d1sturb3d119 6 лет назад
Crawl control isn't a reduction in gearing. Great tech for most folks out there but for serious low range Marlin crawlers cannot be beat. Having one of these on my GX would be freaking insane compared to the brake system working overtime to vector torque. This isn't seen as a replacement to a locker. Crawl control is a brake actuated locker.

Some of us like to drive... look at what people have been doing since way before features like crawl control, traction control, launch mode, etc. People once ran the rubicon trail in model a's, now people need crawl control smh.
