Hi Diana, I know you can't drink alcohol, but actually when you cook with wine the alcohol burns off and all that is left is the sweet flavor from the wine with no alcohol at all left in the dish. If you really wanted to substitute it you could use any kind of stock, maybe either fish of vegetable stock would be nice.
Hi Laura! I am wondering if you can show us a lump crab carbonara with pancetta, lemon-garlic cream, peas, corn and pappardelle pasta! A fantastic dish.
Laura's oven temperatures are in Fahrenheit scale (in the US they use Fahrenheit instead of Celsius). Your oven temperatures are in Celsius scale (just like the rest of the world). You need to convert the temperature in the recipe to Celsius first. You can search on Google, e.g. "400F in Celcius". Note: 400F = 204C; so you can bake in 200C for 20 min (it would be just the same as baking in 400F for 20 min).
Laura always mentioned if you don't want wihte wine or don't got it on hand, than you can leave it out and use any stock or water. However for me it's a huge difference to use wine in general or not. The dish tastes way better to cook it with wine, if recommended in the orig. recipe.
Chicken stock, not the same without wine but it works. You can ad a bit of lemon juice with it too if you think it needs some acid. Wine doesn't totally evaporate so I understand why some people would want a sub for personal or religious reasons.
Hi Laura- I would love to see some sandwich and wrap ideas with and without meat- sort of like a picnic theme. I will be moving soon and would love some new tasty ideas from you. It would mean SO so much (:
i dont understand why people r asking her to see her kitchen, and look out of the closed window above the sink...this is a cooking channel and she does a great job showing us how to actually cook. she's not an interior designer, so its not her job to show us around her kitchen. just enjoy the cooking
I'm curious about one thing.. What would you normally drink with your dishes? A poor drink choice can really ruin a meal. I know that pasta is good with white grape juice (or white wine if you drink alcohol, which I do not) but anything else? You should add little drink recommendations to your videos. :)
Ms. Vitale, would it make a taste difference if I used canned jumbo lump crab meat?or is there a particular kind that I should or shouldn't use? Please help. I been dying to make this recipe but crab is so expensive so I want to be sure before I make it and traumatize myself
I live in a very rural town, so other than buying crab legs and processing those, crab is hard to come by. I made this dish with imitation crab and I actually liked it.
did you know that when you cook with olive oil it turns into a trans fat to prevent it from being a trans fat use the spice turmeric. It still leaves the flavor and everything else but dose not change it into a trans fat.
No it does not. Google 'alcohol burn-off chart' just because someone on youtube says it cooks off you need to research it yourself to find out. Not everyone knows therefor it's an iffy topic. The boiling point for alcohol is 159 and also what it is cooking in and with can slow the burn-off process too. Google is your friend
