’s been a year since the Oregon Eclipse festival! I think back to it often! (I annoy my friends at work all the time about how AWESOME it was.) The road trip in an RV from San Jose with old and new great friends, days of mind-bending music, art, and beautiful people, omg the breathtaking eclipse!!!
I did bring a drone because I wanted to capture a “Family Photo” in 360 degrees to memorialize the spectacle. Many people have asked how I did it. I actually made two flights the cold morning of the eclipse. The first flight I dragged my butt out of the toasty RV into the sub-freezing air before sunrise. It was a bit eventful, almost taken out of the sky by a hawk. I landed and got back into bed while the sun was rising. I began to fall back to sleep (long night of partying of course) and then I remembered that I FORGOT to take the 360 photo. After a few minutes of convincing myself, I dragged my butt out once more and made a second flight. This time the sun was up, hot air balloons were flying and kissing the lake, and I snapped the dozens of photos that made of the 360. I can’t believe how awesome that day started… just a few hours before the main event! I sat on the video footage from the flights until today. I posted the 360 Family Photo shortly after the eclipse, but wanted to let this footage marinate for a bit. Miss y'all… hope this brings back great memories.
