An isolated spit of land on the east coast of England was the location for some of Britains most secret projects. Testing the Tesla Death Ray, Early Radar experiments, Atom bomb drop testing and Over The Horizon Radar. This short film introduces some of these projects...and a new idea about the Rendlesham forest UFO sighting.
If you worked at Orfordness or know its hidden history, leave a comment. There are may untold stories of Britains most secret area. The Secrets Orfordness.

My history teacher at camphill high school in paisley in the late 60`s was a big player in ww2 radar development. His lectures educated me more about radio waves than history. His stories about chicken wire, magnetrons , and phased beam propagation are still with me today. Needless to say I failed history, but excelled in physics. I raise a glass to his memory.

I remember listening to shortwave back in the 70's as a kid and frequently hearing what can only be described as a sustained heavy metal powerchord on various frequencies, it had extremely strong modulation levels. I don't know where the explanation came from at the time, but I was led to believe the transmissions I was hearing were Russian jamming signals... jamming what I never knew, but possibly it was over the horizon radar or something similar. Thanks Prof for another great film of the truth being out there...

Excellent! Particularly the film explaining Nostradamus. These OTHR are still active on HF, using frequencies dependent upon ionospheric propagation conditions. During the current Sporadic-E season they are right up in the 25 to 35 MHz bands. The notorious Soviet Woodpecker is one that was very broad band and immensely powerful and caused HF band users (and BBC Monitoring!) big problems in the 80s.

@@ProfSimonHolland I've heard several things over the years, one of the rumours is that it was a botched US training exercise with lots of causalities washed up on the beach. Foiled German landing was a cover up. Mentions of the sea being set alight (by some secret weapon) to burn the German invading landing craft. Lots of burns victims washed up on Shingle Street. The most interesting thing I read was that hospitals in German occupied France and Holland were inundated with German soldier burns casualties at this time. That seems like the only piece of evidence that might be able to be corroborated.

As a radio ham I have been aware of and a victim of over the horizon systems (Not this one, The Russian so called Woodpecker.) but those diagrams finally explained to me how it works. Poor Sunspot cycles over the last 20/30 years can't have helped very much. A very unpromising Cycle 25 has just started..No certainty that 26 will start at all, threatening the risk of Grand Solar Minimum. That would put the kibosh on OTH radar! Amongst the best video I've seen on Y/T.

@@ProfSimonHolland Yes ... Your video is spell binding. I'd be pleased to tell you more, if I can but as the work you filmed is much in the field as Hams but more far more advanced than Hams, I need to know what aspect of doing something different but using the same frequency ranges and f1/f2 propagation (When there IS any!) I have been using since IGY (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Geophysical_Year). Sunspot Cycle 19 was under way but I had no notion (yet!) that it was cyclical. propagation was astound...very high flux. MUF exceed 60 Mc/s as we called freq. then...Mhz. As BBC monochrome tv was in Band 1, great annoyance was caused in countries normally out of range. perfectly quietened pictures were viewed in Australia.. I guess that they must have used 405 lines etc. In comparatively recent times 2Mhz of Band 1 was allocated to the Amateur Service. I, a rooky had no idea that a sunspot minimum was relentlessly approaching. Then I learned that the cycle peaks have their own cycle with each peak being lower than previous ones. By Cycle 24 the peak had less flux than previous minima and propagation deteriorated. By this time Minima had become zeros such that fears were that 25 might just not awaken but it did...26? who knows? When propagation levels were good we were plagued by the Russian OHR named or nicknamed The Woodpecker but with your professional involvement, I'm sure that you are already aware of that and most of the foregoing. There is an A1 site entitled Space Weather. I will search out the link and post it you. The radar caused much trouble as many Ham signals (not all) are just above the noise level. The Woodpecker was very unwelcome but i guess that it fell into disuse as propagation diminished. Thanks for the video. I'm going to watch it again, now. Have downloaded it. Let me know if there is any particular aspect to which I could point you for information.. Regards...

Great film Prof. Regarding Tesla's "death ray", wasn't it originally intended to transmit energy without wires and isn't there mention of it being a "heat ray"? Which sounds more like microwaves to me. An EMP pulse used in the 1930's would probably not be effective as a weapon since there was little reliance on electronics back then (though telecommunications might be affected). Maybe an EMP would knock out ignition coils in piston engined aircraft but maybe a lot still used magneto's.

If some gorillas started making and using fire in the wild, we'd definitely study them. And in such a way as to be undetectable to them. It's not unreasonable to suggest that making and using technology far in advance of the norm might attract an intelligence above even us humans, and that it would study us in a way as to be undetectable too? You know this logic is sound. And although the demand for evidence is great, I think that deep down we all know it's actually absurd to expect us to detect them. Like the gorillas just getting to grips with fire would then all of a sudden produce and use telescopes to see us in the distance.

I'd like to have a place like that! A small island, or even a large barge or group of barges, even a oil rig in the ocean, may a decommissioned aircraft carrier, basically build a island! And start a new country! Haha, nah. Not that crazy, but having a large secluded area to live, grow food, even plant trees and grass on it, a oil rig would be perfect, large wind turbines on top, and solar panels, grow trees on the corners of the bottom level, and grass and a garden on the bottom and levels 2 & 3, with living on the rest of the levels, 12'-16' per level, and about 60-80' tall, from the 1st level, and about 40' above sea level, it could be a cool place to live, like a homestead! Only in the ocean, instead of in the wilderness! Crazy idea, but the world is getting crazy, and I want to get away! There is Soo many bombs, nukes, and who knows what we don't know about! It's only a matter of time before we are in ww3 , I'd either like to have a large underground bunker, or my own dumb, or a place a good way from people! A underground half to 1 acre, could come in handy, if the world is at war! Basically building an ark! Haha off topic about as far as you can get eh! Good day! Pray and keep the nukes away!

The post war Labour government coziness with the USSR concerned the American government about sharing atomic technology. Along with the Labour government selling the USSR jet engines. Followed by battling MiG 15’s powered by copies of jet engines based the engines the British sold.

Speaking of Nukes - Back in the mid eighties I read in some science magazine that the Critical Mass for a Nuke to go off was a little over 2 pounds, if so, does this still hold true?

The Ministry for Truth appear to be playing wack a mole with my pointers to addresses that hold factual data. I need a wider bandwidth as the number of moles might approaches infinity it will be difficult to wack them all. The Ministry of Truth with have to improve their Fastest gun in the West routine to stay on top of things..

Seems like the indigenous peoples of the world suffered massively from our nuclear bomb tests. So, they had their own nuclear wars. It’s heartbreaking really, utterly criminal.

@@DJF1947 Tesla had a plasma particle accelerator in the 1920s, he just didn't know it. or what was happening. ask the cavendish lab how they split the atom... by breaking it down with electricity. Tesla tried to sell his teleforce to chambelin in mid 1930s. Britain turned Tesla down but attempted to build there own...at Orfordness. thats my facts...the rest is history.
