haha, I can totally relate to the "dressing-up-for-the-grocery-store" being a European thing (I'm from Germany)! I was an au pair in the US, and the first time my host mom took me to the grocery store, I told her I need to change out of my sweat pants into jeans. she gave me a pretty confused look while she was wearing her pj pants herself :D and let me tell you, I adapted quickly: it didn't take a full month until I was wearing pj pants to the grocery store as well (and I still do here in Germany) :D
I'm American and my mom scolded me the one time I wore pajama pants to Blockbuster. I used to be very anti-sweatpants but now I wear jeans maaaaybe once a week.
I'm from Germany as well and I totally go out in my comfy clothes! And I honestly don't think it's a weird thing to do, I see so many other people doing the same.
I'm American and I have to get dressed (change out of my PJs into jeans or a dress/skirt) just to go down to my apartments laundry room, or mail room because a neighbor might see me.
I can’t stress enough how important it is for speech development to talk to your child in normal tones, to include them in simple things like looking at and feeling plants! You two definitely understood the assignment.
If Starbucks is out of the cups you want at anytime try Starbucks inside of target and other non corporate Starbucks stores because they’re non corporate they have different inventory standards so they get a lot more and different ones
I work at Starbucks and this is what I always tell people because our store gets merch so inconsistently (it gets auto-ordered, we have no control over it) but I always see more merch at the one in Target!
@@rachelbaisden1464 heyyy fellow partner!! I tell customers the same and my store is across the street from a target so we have people come in and I send them right over lol it’s one of my best tips for new baristas
@@Charis6540 they might look like they sell out just as quick but because it’s a chain store and they aren’t actually a Starbucks they get different amounts of inventory so majority of the time they have more in the back. We sell out on launch day and either don’t get anymore in or only get 3 more a few weeks later as where a target will get over double of what we get.
I live in Germany and I never used to go out in loungewear/athleisure, but after living in the US for a year (back in Germany now) I do it all the time! My parents and some of my friends think its weird but I dont really care because its just so much more comfortable!
I think also more than a US thing it's way more common on the west coast to go out in more relaxed attire. I work in a hoodie and jeans but when I lived on the east coast I had a strict dress code at every job!
With regards to her food, it's a great idea to have a snack cabinet for her where she can help herself, it just encourages a good relationship with food and also teaches her to become a bit more self sufficient in a positive way
I’m 40 weeks & 4 days pregnant right now and cannot wait for all the baby giggles to come. Your vlog is helping distract me from not being in labor yet. ❤️
Totally impressed with how quick y’all are at organizing 😂 with my 7 month old it literally takes us a week to organize a small space and then by the time I do that there’s a billion other spots that need to be reorganized!
In the UK people will definitely go out in leggings/hoodies but definitely not bike shorts! Mainly because as soon as you hit autumn (fall) it rains 90% of the time lol
i live in the south US and it’s been in the 40s (fahrenheit) and constantly raining but people still wear bike shorts. but also most people don’t even use a hood or umbrella when it’s raining
@@misseselise3864 sounds more like my brother who hates umbrellas. I always tell him to grab one but he just puts a hood on and walks out. Most of the time though he cancels plans with friends if it's raining rather than using an umbrella.
Regarding the errands attire I can so relate to what the European viewer mentioned. I moved from Poland to Canada 7 years ago and I was absolutely shocked when i saw people in their pyjamas, sweatpants, or even leggings walking around in public in Toronto. It’s definitely not something common in Europe but im so happy that it is here haha. Comfortable clothes over anything anyday
I thought it is an Eastern European thing but only for women...I hope I dont come off negatively, but I have friends from Russia and Romania and my observation is the women look like they go to a fashion show when they go to the supermarket but then the men go out in sweatpants all the time... or is my observation wrong?
I live in France and my bf and I ordered food tonight. When it was time to go get the food I swaped my bike shorts for my mom jeans even though I stayed in the car the WHOLE time he went and get the food from the restaurant.
I live in the Netherlands and I did get weird looks when I went out in my joggers/leggings and tee. But now after two not so normal years it's not as strange to see. I don't care anyway, I just wear what ever feels comfortable 😁
As an Aussie, I can say we wear comfy casual clothes out all the time, loungeware, trackies, athleisure, pjs. If your in a coastal town you can regularly see people at the shops barefoot in swimmers and board shorts!
My husband is from Bulgaria. I can say, I've never seen anyone out in lounge/athleisure clothes. I do know that in that region, younger girls like early 20s... maybe mid 20s? Are are always overdressed. LOL!! As they get older jeans and a shirt is normal, but yeah. A dress and heels to the botanical garden, etc... We have a friend that also did some peace core work there. She went out for a jog and the whole village was asking "Where is she running to?" They were worried about her running everywhere. "Is she scared of something?" "Should we run too?" LOL!! So no joggers there. Maybe in the bigger cities, but certainly not in the villages. Which is most of Bulgaria.
As someone from the states who has lived in multiple countries and I currently live in South America, I can say the super casual dress is very much a US thing. I used to hate that I couldn’t run to the store quickly in my sweats but now with so many years outside of the US I feel like such a slob if I do 😂
Same! Currently in Japan and people dress so nicely for the smallest errands. I do wear my loungewear to the store because I can’t be bothered, but still very ashamed by it 😓
My mom was SO against us wearing pajamas out that I still hear her voice in my head when I consider it. The most relaxed clothes I've worn out is athleisure... like leggings and a sweatshirt. But even that is pretty rare. I'm a jeans every day type of person.
My mom never said anything about it, but I never tried. I also don't understand the want to wear actual pjs in public, it seems a bit gross getting street dirt all over the pj pants since they typically drag. I'm a jeans person too. I only run errands in leggings and a tank if I literally just left the gym and in the winter I usually throw jeans and a hoodie on over my workout clothes
Same! Well, actually I decided to redo my style this past year and I'm trying to wear more dresses/skirts. But I can't go out in loungewear/athleisure it's just... not my thing.
I'm a wedding photographer, so when I'm not shooting, most of my days are spent at home editing (especially now that we're out of busy season). I absolutely dress up to go to the grocery store now 😂so few things get me out of the house anymore, and I love putting together outfits and putting on makeup, and sometimes the only time those can be seen by anyone other than me is my weekly Target run 😂
I use a lazy Susan in my fridge (a big one) to hold all of our condiments instead of them living on the fridge door. It’s on the bottom and out of the way and it’s super convenient.
I'm from the UK. So many people went shopping in pajamas one shop banned them. Thought that was cheeky of the shop myself even though I have never shopped in pajamas myself
Thank you for your content Sierra! You are my biggest inspiration to be kind to myself and love who I am and what I look like. You are awesome and I wish you and your family a happy day ❤️
I'm from Brazil and here we only wear lounge wear/athleisure when we'd just left the gym and had to run some errands lol, I find the "bike shorts" trend so strange, no one wears them here besides when going to the gym. Also, when watching your vlogs I feel like americans spend soooo much money with home decor, like, you decorate it for fall, summer... here we dont do that, we only decorate for christmas and thats it lol
Due in about 3 weeks with my first one and just can't wait to meet our little boy, your videos have inspired me on how I would like to create a routine as I will need to job search afterwards to help with the expense's of being a first time homeowner and a first time mom. Thank you so much for your videos they help me out a lot with ideas on how to get my life together and learning to be more positive.
Seeing how other people organize their kitchens is so entertaining to me. The fact that you didn't make the "liquor cabinet" area your pantry is wild to me!
In Sweden it’s pretty common to wear sweats or athletics out for shorter errands, but most people do switch to jeans or something a bit dressier when going out
Here in Shanghai it’s definitely fine to wear athleisure to the store but it seems like mostly older people actually go to the store and everyone else just gets groceries delivered
If just going to a convenience store, i would defo wear PJ looking leisure clothes but then again most of the time that I do go out is for something like having a day out with friends or family, so I ended up still wearing jeans and a nice top. Also my mom always say to dress nicely and neatly if going out in case we meet or see her colleagues in public lol
I just want you to know how lucky you are that Grace’s grandparents come at your house to watch her ! Cuz my kids grandparents told me (when I asked to be my back up if on the 1 Monday a month when I had a meeting at night and that my kids father had to work-their son btw - they would baby sit … ) that they weren’t retired to babysit … :(
ja chyba widziałam całe spektrum zachowań i elementów garderoby, w każdym zakamarku Europy - również w Polsce. Więc to wydaje mi się sprawa indywidualna, a nie na jakim kontynencie się dana osoba znajduje.
Also... Your cleaning chemicals, keep them in a higher place even with the child locks, some kids are just natural born lock masters. My little boy opens EVERYTHING and then tries to consume it 🙈 it's super frustrating!
It’s very true about dressing up to go anywhere in Europe. I went to visit family in Romania and then Italy and I felt very under dressed compared to the locals! But that’s something I didn’t know before I went!
Leisure wear is very common in Australia as well however my in laws live in Holland and would never go out in Leisure wear they get dressed like they are going out to dinner
As another new mom of a 4 and a half month old, I often wonder how you guys seem to be able to do normal life stuff like organizing the kitchen. Somehow that and other more time-consuming tasks seem impossible to me now! You guys are seriously doing so great with the parent gig. Good job with all your hard work!
So I saw video from a Starbucks barista on TikTok saying that they’re not getting their holiday cups now till the 18th I got delayed due to shipping. But he also said the best time to try and get one of those is right when they open at 5 AM and I know you can call and pay for it over the phone I know people were doing that last year.
Isn't it funny how just making a few simple changes really enhances how we feel about a space? I'm in the process of a slow remodel with a property. And the biggest issue is the lack of solid storage in the kitchen. I can't wait to finish the changes and not feel so smothered because so much is sitting out!
I live in the north Mexico and here it is only socially acceptable to go out like that if you’re young, usually people with criticize older people (especially women) If it looks like they went out in their pajamas. If you’re just going grocery shopping it is kind of more okay though!
Baby proofing tip - put a strip around the whole step by the fireplace, babies hit their heads EVERYWHERE, especially where there's no padding! 😅 Problem with the whole step is that they try climbing on it or try to stand up right in front of it and fall backwards and knock their heads on the ledge... And also they faceplant etc
I get caught off guard every time you call Grace Lovie. My (almost) 8 month old’s name is Elovie and I call her Lovie. 💛 Also, I absolutely love watching your channel. I’ve been watching since your wedding series because I was also planning my wedding at that time. And now it’s so nice to see another mama with a baby around the same age as mine. Your content is always relatable and it’s nice to feel less alone.
such another cute vlog sierra! ❤️ I know Skylar made the choice to learn the internet - but I’m always curious if you guys still hang out with the bubbas ☺️
I live in Australia and it’s kind of half and half with dressing up to go shopping. Some people just go pjs, some go full outfit. I used to always get properly dressed to go to the shops, but pandemic life has caused me to go shopping in nice enough looking leisure wear and I now go braless which is something I would never do before.
I lived in Madrid Spain for a year and yes it is a very European thing to not wear lounge wear out of the house. funny how cultures vary in their appearance and attire.
I‘m from Austria 🇦🇹 and I would never wear leggings/lounge wear etc. outside my home or the gym because I don’t think it is appropriate. There are some people that do, especially after several lockdowns now, but I‘m not bothered when other people do.
I live in Milan (so quite a fashionable city) and I do wear leggings if I go out to the grocery store or for a walk or for a casual breakfast with friends. A lot of people wear leggings/athleisure outside, silk pjs had also a moment a few years ago and people were wearing them outside.
I also got into a habit of rocking my daughter to sleep and now she’s almost 16 months and I was still rocking her to sleep until we had our second a few days ago and my mom stayed with her
I love the organizing of the cabinets you should get another lazy Susan for Grace's food in that cabinet it really helps with space and looks nice too. I had that when I was using baby food. no need to lock up the liquor cabinet yet ? Grace can't even walk yet, lol mama & dada need some grown up time with wine..lol
Before I move to the US, my mom told me a story of her Japanese friend being so excited to move to America because of the fashion (think New York Fashion Week) but she ended up moving to the midwest and was shocked that everyone just wore sweats and loungewear all the time.
How is Grace handing day light saving? My 3 mth old was doing so good on a sleep schedule now I feel like I’m starting over lol 🤦🏽♀️ I wasn’t prepared 😅😂
I live in Italy specifically Genoa and I see a lot of jeans and t-shirts with sweatshirts and leather jackets among 13/18 years old. Or you can see a lot of leggings on people. I personally like wearing skirts recently or I have a pair of wide leg faux leather pants from mango teens that I got last year that's super comfy and warm for winter. That I now wear with thigh high ribbed socks because we're having 11C° (51,8F°) felt 8C° (46,4F°) so it's pretty cold. I call it coat and French beret weather with boots or leather shoes to keep my feet from freezing. Or another thing I love also are dresses. I have recently bought an acid wash tie dye sweatshirt dress from H&M which is pretty cute warm and snuggly. And it comes in a lot of sizes. I think from an XXS to maybe and XL? I don't remember.
I feel the need to say that this definitely does not apply to all of Europe. I live in Germany and here people go out of the house in literally whatever - I have actually seen a girl in the Berlin subway in a onesie pajama once. Idk about athleisure, but going out of the house in relaxed/cozy clothes is most definitely not an issue in big cities lol
I'm French and in France it's totally not normal to go out of your house in very casual loungewear. Since loungewear has become trendier recently it's getting a bit more acceptable but people are definitely more judgy about what people wear in France compared to the US 😊
