Such a shame, they’ve gone all Seiko QC on us, and jacked the price up too😢 I think I would have lived with the cheap pressed clasp and hollow end links at $200 ( I did before) but doesn’t feel right at another $120 . Great work as ever!

They ALL have this flaw...... I uploaded a couple of videos highlighting the flaw on August 14th.. Still a great watch despite the lack of lume pip and the school boy error...

Just got one as an anniversary gift and the one I have does not have the dial error. They’ve fixed it!

I had ordered the purple mako 40 because to me the specs are great, I don't mind the missing lume pip, and the dial is gorgeous...but I had missed that error, now I can't unnotice it. I saw this video at the perfect moment, it was still possible to cancel the order and I did. I hope they fix the error and rerelease it, I'll buy it in a second! 👍

I have the watch on the way coming and by the time i did the order from a shop in Germany there where hardly any reviews out. A couple of Thailand ones i think. I knew about the luck of the lume pip and don't really care. But this miss print😢. I wish i knew earlier.

Your videos are becoming more and more professional my friend, praise and recognition! Maybe, but only maybe, this watch with a meaningful clasp and a lumed bezel would be worth it to pay 300 Euros. Is the lume dot an issue since Orient isn't claiming this is a certified "dive" watch as defined by ISO? Dive-style, yes.

This is a great vid. And man…are you ever right that you can’t un-see that misprint. My one takeaway is honestly would they please just re-release an exact size and design with updated parts of that 1964 Olympia though?!

Maybe the messed up second marker will become highly desirable in the future like misprinted stamps 😂

seems like they fixed the issue with the misaligned index...watches from the new production line are OK! Now the older ones ... odds are, they will become highly collectible ! so no worries if you got the mk1!

Oh man such good looking watch with a size that my wrist can wear. Shame that I cant go with it to my weekly 200m dive into depths of the ocen. In this days I don't think anny real diver would chose mechnical watch with a rotating bezel to time his dives over a diving computer, there is just no way. Diving computer will keep your timing under water and how deep you and becous it has a screen not a dial the visibility under water is infinitly beeter. Why are people so obsessed with lume and high watter resistance while most hardcore think they will do to watch is to take it to swinig pool and submerge it just under the watter level. Why?

How gross! They could have new dials made & swap them in, but it would take a chunk out of whatever profit they hoped to make on these. Good on your part to spread awareness of this. 👍

Thanks for pointing this out! I haven't read all the comments but has anyone noticed there is a second second marker that's off? It's the one at second 33! Not quite as bad as the 26 one but still it's off to the right! I don't even know if it's a deal breaker or a deal maker, because, are we ever gonna see this on an Orient again? I bet not. 😂

First day printing error. A collector's item perhaps.

The pip on my Mako II USA fell out sometime in the last year. It's my daily beater and needs a new bezel ring anyway. But a mistake like this should never had made it past QC.

Nobody cares about the lume pip. And regarding the 26th second marker, that is a cool quirk that will make it collectible. Go find a Rolex with a mis-print on the dial.... they are gold. :) That said..... I love these watches. They look cool, have good proportions, come in cool colours and are cheap as chips. If the crystal is a decent sapphire, they've got a winner.

Just discovered the channel and subscribed. Well spotted! Coincidentally, as I watch this, I'm wearing my 2011 Orient Mako XL with the orange bezel. A biggie at 44.5mm but ok for my 8.1" wrist. Also no lume pip on the bezel. I do scuba dive myself but only use this if I'm snorkeling as the lume on the dial isn't so good either. But it's great, looks fantastic, and the shake to wake movement is very accurate. As for this, it's a shame nobody saw it, however if they become deeply discounted as a result, I might be tempted by that lavender dial!

Just looked at the new photos on orients website, and they seem to have fixed it ! Question is, which retailer has the outdated models and sends them out, and which has the new fixed ones

I would buy one at a discount. I would call it my mako26. It kinda keeps with the theme of misaligned japanese diver.

I wonder will this become a collector version if they fix all mass production/ future versions 🤔

A side rant: Why do they/we insist on calling any Orient dive watch a "Mako". The classic definition was that the dials with the 3-6-9-12 digits was a Mako. Those without were the Ray. Whatever. 🙄😝😂

Although this is not the first video on RU-vid addressing the dial error, it is probably the first one to voice out the seriousness of the issue, so nice work. Yes, Orient should be thoroughly embarrassed...unbelievable!

That is one more reason to buy them as soon as possible as it will soon be collectable gem. Or it is not?

From measuring the indices in this video, the 26 mark appears to be at about 25.72 minutes, or 25min 43 sec. This would mean it hits that 26min mark about 17 secs early. I would love to know the actual story behind this mistake.

Look at the watch on the left. 4:13 Not the best crown/crown guard alignment. Craftsmanship? One of the many reason why I will never buy an Orient.

Isn't this something over nothing? It was a launch mistake and yeah it shouldn't have happened. That said once spotted it was easy to rectify. As a 'problem' it no longer exists. I'm buying one of these as it's an Explorer 2 homage for nothing money.

A flawed one won't be a collector watch. Orient has recalled these watches.

I'd say most Orients I've purchased the last couple of years have had QC issues. Sometimes I've just been unable to unsee them once I've noticed then, and ended up selling the watches at a discount.

A small channel, Outsider Watches, highlighted the error a few days ago!

A misprint like this, 50 or 100 years down the road these may be highly collectable for that misprint like a half stamped coin in coin collecting lol That being said I hope they do have to discount them and not to pre-inflation normal but to even lower to get them sold. Don't buy now wait for the discount folks because if we buy these despite the flaws then all companies will do is continue to cut corners and quality and mark up prices!
