R.I.P. Campbell Hair. A young man from Glasgow Scotland who was part of the hogfarm east and helped build the stages and feed the people! He passed many years ago but being a Glaswegian myself, it blew my mind that a fellow Scot was part of this historical experience. He went on to work in the music business and toured with many of the greats including my hero's The Grateful Dead.

Visited the museum at Bethel Woods a few years back & found it an interesting & emotional experience. Then walked over to see ‘the field of dreams’ itself and was surprised to see how relatively small the site looked to be, as in the movie it looked enormous! Was cool to just stand there & absorb the vibes of the place, & to recall what an amazing event the festival was!

After Woodstock entertained approx. 500,000 people in 1969, 4 years later there was the Watkins Glen "Summer Jam" in 1973 and more than 600,000 people were in attendance. The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers and The Band entertained the assembled group. I missed Woodstock, as I was only 14 years old when it was held but as an 18-year-old young man, I attended the Watkins Glen festival, and it was fantastic!

I was a teen in 1969 living on the west coast and Woodstock certainly made headlines but it's significance has also very much grown over the years starting with the eventual release of the movie since then being kept alive by RU-vid. The idea that pieces of the stage were worth keeping for posterity would have been been laughed at back then.

It was an epic failure on every front. It only made money because of the movie. Jerry Garcia said it was the Dead’s worst show ever and he was getting electricity shocks every time he touched his guitar strings. Roads got clogged and created a safety hazard and it frigging rained heavily that weekend. Acts almost never took the stage on time and the story of Hendrix playing the anthem story has been twisted. I have to say that while it may be pieces of the performance stage floor it can also be from the stage access bridge which had similar painted walls on it, the unpainted sheets were used in many areas : on the tower platforms, walls in the artist compound barricades etc etc. The section that was painted on main stage was a strip about 2 feet wide across the centerline of the turntable where the two halves were connected together. The piece that RIchie Havens backing guitarist Paul Williams is sitting on was 2 fully painted sheets that were a 'test' to see what a painted stage floor would look like etc . The stage was far from completed and there was no time to paint anything as designed. This info is directly from my colleague Chip Monck btw.

Why didn't you bring the stage back to where it was at the festival sight and set it up as a display? You could protect it from the weather to

I was born in 1961 and selling little pieces of the stage is the kind of thing that generation was (mine too) against. Not the spirit of Woodstock at all. Bad on you. Peace from Montreal. Not far from Bethel NY.

What about the stage from Woodstock II? Oh, that's right. It burned in the riot.

THAT NEEDS TO BE IN A MUSEUM!! in one piece. Behind glass, at least. How are we going to reproduce archival footage in the future without preserving these. People wiping their hands on it, is further ruining the pieces. It's almost too late, and it's all because of money.

This is silly. It's just a bit of processed wood. Next you'll be digging out the old cesspits looking for the DNA of some now-ancient/-dead rocker.

I visited Bethel back in 2014 and it was a great experience. The museum is worthless. Not many prized possessions there except for a jacket, some ticket stubs and a retrofitted VW Van. The real experience is the original site of the concert.

Even at the time, this wasn't much of a concert. Yes, big names but the sound was awful. The weather was miserable. The performances were subpar. The only reason for the hype is the number of people and the bad drugs. Anyone that went there and said that it was good was probably uncoscience in the free-clinic tent for 3 days.
