One thing I've learned when it comes to racing cars, the ones that know what they are doing don't get on RU-vid arguing about who's the fastest, is it stock or not, etc.....they line up and let there times do the talking. If you want to know who not to worry about when it comes to fast cars and knowledge, just read some of the people's comments, arguing, etc... on this video.
@огромная эрекция I can tell you've never heard of the LO23 Hemi Dart before bro. These cars picked up the front wheels straight off the showroom floor. Here's a quote from an article about the car. "Chrysler engineers stated the new 1968 Hemi Dart could reach speeds of 130 mph in less than 11 seconds and factory quarter mile times in the 10-11 second range, although times have been reported as low as the 9-10 second range." So yeah this car is pretty much doing what these cars do right off the showroom floor. www.rmw.lv/car/en/dart-hemi-l023-1968
Such a childish comparison. It’s not stock and even so, you can make a Honda faster than a demon. You obviously don’t understand production cars and prices you little kid. Go back to playing xbox before I turn you over me knee
@@shortthrow50 Reading the rest of the conversation would have helped prevent you from looking like a complete idiot. You turned yourself over your own knee LoL.
The Torque Flite behind the Hemi engine sure did what is was supposed to do! Imagine that, an automatic transmission with only 3 speeds! They have made their mark in history, no matter what kind of car they’re in. Good Day Everyone!
@@rtkl13 Yeah, friend of mine in High School had a 68 with a 383 4bbl. Nothing special. But his Dad for craps and giggles put a 5.13 rear gear in that thing. It would only hit 80mph. But people would pay him to ride in it around town. Street light to street light was unreal for a 14-18 year old....
I was a 7th grader in 1967 and a total hot rod freak. My buds and I would go into grocery stores and straight to the big magazine racks.....and right into the copious amount of Hot-Rod-drag-type mags that were offered. It was then that I remember reading about this new 1968 Hemi Dart and Hemi Cudas that were being readied in limited numbers....as well as the new Mustang 428 Cobra Jet drag car. Finally saw those '68 Hemi cars run at Beeline Dragway in Scottsdale soon after.....can remember that NOTHING.....NOTHING....sounds quite like a Hemi under hard load when launching from the tree. I've always loved these....never could afford one. Thanks for posting this video! jbeinarizona
Totally insane. When I was a kid, my brother and I spend days, weeks, months, trying to find a Dart GT, in good shape. This was in 1976. Even then, it was impossible to find a numbers matching 383 or 440 Dart. I mean, the amount of work: Four Sunday paper want ads, Little Nickle, Wednesday Automotive section of two local papers, countless hours driving the family wagon from lot to lot..... It was exhausting.... But, we finally found a 72, Demon 340..... Love these Grandma looking sleepers, to this day.
I accidentally came across these hemi dart videos. I'm a chevy man born and raised but Lawd have mercy. I was thinking violent but ferocious works also
What would the new hellcat/demon drivers think of this ride? Know of anyone that’s gone from the new to the old? They probably wish they were wearing an adult diaper!
Vince Galicic I have a Demon, too. Have run consistent 10.0x’s all night long at 136-137 mph, even in 90+ degree heat, 20 passes back to back. They are awesome machines, but they are no Hemi Dart!!
Along with this camera ride, the adrenalin rush is as real FOR ME as being therein! 920, is TOTIN THE MAIL! NOTHING HAS CHANGED SINCE 51" THE CHRYSLER HEMI RULES!
Damn...!!! I used to daily a 440 powered 68 Dart, and it turned mid 11s every weekend. But a Hemi dart??? Omg a whole other level. What a dream car!!! (Right next to a Daytona!!!)
Jake M Correct, not the original engine or suspension, although I have everything for the car. The point of the original term was that this is a true original 1968 factory lightweight Hurst Hemi Dart, as opposed to the myriad of clones that are out there of this car
I remember this car! Back in 2017 when I was in college I saw your son driving this and following you in your F8 Green Demon! First Demon I ever saw and first LO23 too. I gotta get to know you guys because I live in Sioux Falls now and spend a ton of time at TV with Rod Neugebauer and the other Mopar guys! lol
You must be mistaken about the driver. I'm the only one who drives this car (all of my boys are too terrified to take this car down the dragstrip, and I wouldn't let them, plus this car isn't street legal so it's only driven at the track). Unless you saw us briefly move them from the trailer to the event (car show or dragstrip). But other than that- sounds good! Come up and chat with any of us sometime!
@DakotaGT sounds good! I think I have a video of that moment, I'll have to see if I can find it. You'll have to let me know when you head to the next event in TV or around Sioux Falls somehow!
Thanks, love it, that burnout, red line light blinks, and out of the throttle. Then the actual run itself, red line light blinks shift happens red light light blinks shift happens again repeat
lmao i love how tilted the steering wheel is as you're going straight, killer. What are the specs of the engine? As in cubes/compression/ cam lift? I love it.. I have 2 of these cars.... In forza 4 horizon :P But a 73 dart at home with a 360... That wishes it went like this. LOVE the car man. Awesome. Unreal mph for such an old death trap.
@@IronWoode let me tell you... at 146 mph ... he's making far more than 600hp lol. I know the car is light for a big block dart as well... Which definately helps but im expecting minimum 850hp...
@@chris-xu7fd that is what they were rated at. 600HP is pretty accurate for low 10's. Keep in mind the weight, 3000lbs. Gearing 4.86. HP is a mathematical function of torque over rpm. A lot of variables go into a 1/4 mile run. I have seen many 300HP cars running 13's. 400HP cars in the 12's. My friend's chevelle ran mid 12's on a 400HP 383 smallblock.
@@IronWoode easily a 9 second car. It even sounded like it had a fouled plug. Most successful 10 sec bracket racers can run 9.8. The trick is reaction time. Why you always see them brake at the end if they are truly competitive
William Darico ha, not true at all. I should dig up the photo I have of this very Hemi Dart of mine beating the original Fred Gibb/Dick Harrell ZL1 Camaro back in 1969. Nice try, thanks for playing. 😀
