I live in Los Angeles and use to go to Mavericks Flat Saturday nights in late 70's and early 80's. A lot of the Soul Dancers hung out there and it was so much fun. Nonstop dancing, never any societal issues or drug use, including marijuana. A family friend from Detroit saw Fred "Rerun" Barry at a club and begged me to ask him to take a pix (Polaroid), I bet she still has it today. To see the Soul Train dancers have led successful lives and are thriving makes me happy.

Mr Marco I thought I was the only one who was uncomfortable doing the Soul Train Line. Like you I was a bit shy, nervous and not extremely comfortable with the spotlight being on me, I do now regret NOT taking advantage and seizing the opportunity presented however I will always cherish my SOUL TRAIN experience. Also like you SOUL TRAIN allowed me to mingle with some of my favorite artists many of whom have become friends or at least acquaintances. I am humbled to this day by this blessing. I like that Soul Train gave everyone a chance to be "hood celebrities". It made them feel good about themselves, gave them a creative outlet, and gave them stories to tell. And seeing them - people who look like "us" - made us feel good ourselves, too. They were living a dream for us all. Beautiful Black folk and POC, looking good and dancing freely as if the world was never against us. I wasn't born until 1990, but I love the nostalgia!

Soul Train was my absolute favorite show to watch on Saturday as a pre teen and teenager. I remember fondly most of the dancers in this series because of their style and/or the way they danced. Soul Train was such a huge part of my youth. I must say looking back make me a bit teary-eyed.

Good day Marco, I hope you’re doing well. We are the 3 guys you met late in the afternoon, Todd Russ, Michael Williams and me John Mones. It was great meeting you and hearing your story. It’s very kind and generous of you inviting us to your tribute to Prince. Let us know the details. Stay well.👍🙏🤪
