I had been looking for this ending for a long time and I could not find it anywhere. Brings back many memories of my chilhood. Thank you so much for sharing it

I like seeing the other planets celebrating but you can't just add 90s CGI onto 80s analogue film and expect it to look right. And I've never understood why old Anakin, who turned back to the light and killed (or so we thought) the emperor was replaced with young Anakin who was on already on his path to the dark. Makes no sense.

The Yub Nub song sounds a lot more "Ewok-esque"

That sweeping end that blends with the triumphant Star Wars theme is especially satisfying.

This is probably my favorite ending to any movie ever! I don't care what anyone says, I love this song. And when the score kicks in and Anakin appears I get all misty-eyed. It was a crime to change this. (And for the record, I unfortunately saw the revised edition first, and I never want to watch that again!)

The ending lines of Yub Nub change into English, "Celebrate the love." The original with Sebastian Shaw is bittersweet, because it shows Anakin as what he could have/ should have been, had he not fallen to the Dark Side. Shaw is shown beaming and proud. Hayden's headshot was gleaned from ROTS footage, and he just...leers.

OK, i totally understand some changes, but THIS scene should stay like this forever.

There was absolutely NO reason for Lucas to change this. The man is a genius, but sometimes he's his own worst enemy. Shoulda left well enough alone, George.

*YES!* This is the ending I loved in "Return Of The Jedi". I hated the change Lucas made with new music and celebrations from all over different areas of the galaxy. By the way, the theme played during the scene when Luke burns Darth Vader's body sounds (mostly) like the theme in the original "Star Wars" film when Luke sees the binary sunset (with two suns) on Tatooine.

Sebastian Shaw smiles at Yoda and at Obi-Wan in apology and acknowledgment, then beams at Luke like a proud father and watches over the party like a wise Jedi Master guardian. Whereas Hayden Christensen just…glares.

I feel that they shouldn't have changed the ending. After all Luke didn't know what Anakin looked like when he was younger.

Could you just do bits like this but slowly do the entire film haha

Haha obviously they added the soundtrack after they filmed the scene. It makes Lando look like he has no sense of rythm at all - too funny haha!!

Having Sebastian Shaw as Anakin really shows how Lucas screwed the pooch with what he chose for the prequel timeline. Shaw was about 78 when he filmed his scenes for ROTJ. Maybe you can make a case for the character being in his mid-60s. Meanwhile Anakin is in his early 20s by ROTS. By the time of this film he’d be what, mid-40s? Considering the time between ROTS and ROTJ is similar to the actual time between filming ROTS and Kenobi, the force ghost of Hayden Christensen as Anakin from the SE doesn’t look that different than how Christensen actually looks today. That’s why I’ve always thought the prequel trilogy should’ve started with Anakin as a late teen/young man and covered much more ground than the PR did.

Changing this scene and the Vader "Noooooooooooo!" are the two worst changes made to this film.

This is the 'only' ending for 'Return of the Jedi'. Not sure what Lucas was thinking when he altered this scene, complete lack of logic. Also, Anakin would have aged at this point, so it didn't make any sense to add a younger appearance of him?!?!?

Best version of the ending. I despise Lucas for adding young Anakin's force ghost and messing with the ending adding celebrations on Mos Eisley, Cloud City and Coruscant, mostly because I ignore those god awful prequels and don't need to be reminded of them seeing Coruscant.

Agree with others. This ending should have stayed. Lucas err'd greatly by changing it to include Christenson.

02:06 Of all the changes made by George Lucas, years later, this is the only one that I find unforgivable. Lucas committed a crime to the memory of the work, the actors and the admirers.

So much better in this version. I don't really like the end with Hayden Christensen and Ewan Mcgregor, it's a miss of respect for the original actors.

When I had this movie on DVD and Blu-ray all I had was the remastered version but my uncle gave me the trilogy on VHS I heard yub nub

yeah, ROTJ sucks.

I have learned to love the remade ending as well, but this is one of those moments where Lucas messed with something that was already perfect. That moment where you hear the classical choir slowly enter the mix and Anakin appears ans then the orchestra hits is just pure magic. It still brings tears to my eyes every time. I do like the new ending, but there is no comparison musically.

The Goosebumps never stop and the nostalgia flood my mind and hear of my youth spring up to renew my Imagination and Wonder that the STAR WARS SAGA brought to life. Legitimizing Scif FI/Fantasy genre from Subculture/B-film into the stratosphere Cultural Awareness as a profitable entertainment not just for kids or the "dorks" but for ALL who Imagine it would travel its own journey to final achieve fandom and cult status into Pop Culture. As a GenX er I grew up with the Original and loved the Prequel and witness all of them in theaters as they were meant to be seen and was fortunate to view this live Musical Journey concert, regrettably not with the original narrator as on the CD/DVD the Dark Lord of the Sith Emperor himself played by Ian McDiarmid but humorously our Narrator was the Talent Anthony Daniels Threepio himself who provide a unique experience back into the Saga. I loved the "Yug-Yup-Nub" song as well as the new track in the Special Editions which in contrast one can see objective what warrant the change back the ending seem a more solemn epic but the child in me that grew up with the original Ewok song looks fondly at it with a smile, for me it was the Ewok not celebrating about the end of the Empire but the creation of friend to an extend family and thus are sing about that as it chorus climatic to an epic final conclusion at a Hopeful Note to this Tragic Saga with only Luke Skywalker GrandMaster aware of the cost for the true celebration.. The Ewok Adventures both TV films and the Holiday Special, as well the animated Ewoks & Droid series are the only critical poor attempt with intriguing concepts that I will accept more as apocryphal selective on accepting what works (Boba Fest first appears Animation clip) versus the stuff that doesn't which speaks for itself. Nevertheless they are more canon than the Anti-Sequel Trilogy. The animated 3-D Clone Wars Film & TV series aLucas/Filoni (2008-2014. 2020) along with the 2-D The Clone Wars min mini-series (2003-2005) Gennedy Tarakovsky/Lucas filler to the OT/PT only part of this Skywalker Saga are the crown aspect ranking above but with KOTOR. May the 4th Be With You that are part of the true Fandom Menace and recognize the sincerity in introducing to the modern generation the Legend of the Hero's Journey with the Everyman story with the Hero of Many Faces. They are Legends BUT not in the manner that the Anti-Sequel Trilogy Disney Abomination-Kennedy/Abrams would have you think...they are canon to Lucas vision while the other material after 2014 is Apocryphal at worst & Forgotten False Nightmare at best but is Pseudo-Star Wars.

My god, thank you for this! I hate the generic smooth jazz music they replaced Yub Nub with. Biggest crime of the Special Editions! Oh wait...the Jedi Rocks song too.

The original version of the original trilogy is the only Star Wars worth watching.

Always remembered this song. I remember being so confused and annoyed at seeing the remaster version. The song they replaced this woth is so forgettable... I literally cannot remember it.

Now THAT is a how you party! Yub-Nub!!! I can live with Hayden Christensen being in it, but they should NEVER have changed the music. Especially not for the bland, lukewarm composition that is in the latest versions.

The last verse was excellent. Good choice sir. When studying the Bible I felt most of those men women must have felt like luke and have to go about a mission on faith and trust. They had the force with them the force of the Devine. And like Kenobi said the force will be with you...always. Great fearless men and women....

I know "Yub nub" is pretty iconic and I like that song, but I still prefer the song "victory celebration" a thousand times over 💀

The only real change in the Special editions I didn't care for. Not the celebration part, but we're Anakin in now young as a force "ghost". it seem better if he and Obi wan was about the same age.

Now I prefer the change with the new music and panning across galaxies that didn't exist at that time

Now combine this version with the new one: older Anakin, the newer music, and the scenes showing the galaxy celebrating.

This is one change I am thankful for in the Special Editions (the original special edition kept Sebastian Shaw, Hayden was added for later home video releases). This song was seriously cringe-worthy.

I can't believe George Lucas ruined his own trilogy just to make it compatible with the prequels. Seeing aniken as a middle-age man gave it a more epic like feel to it. The 'update' even added jar jar binks to the ending. Nice trolling George Lucas!
