Thank you for your explanations! I have heard of people getting into the Void state, or state of pure consciousness by doing meditation and yoga nidra which is why I have started wanting to know more about this practice. Your explanations have cleared up a lot of questions! Thank you again!

Thanks for the explanation. I’d experienced Nidra Yoga once in Rishikesh (a Russian teacher came to teach us). Then, in the city I bought a Nidra Yoga CD guided by a Hindi female teacher, very good CD. Now I’m more interested since well known scientist (ophthalmologist & neuroscientist researcher Andrew Huberman highly recommends this practice) and I’m willing to guide my yoga students into it. I needed to know its origin (did you mentioned the meaning of the word Nidra?). Does it have to be guided or can we do it by heart? Again, thank you very much, namaste and I’ll continue watching your videos, subscribing. Love from 🇯🇵

I am happy you found this video informative Ana. Nidra means Sleep in Sanskrit. I've done a full video on what is Yoga Nidra and other questions regarding yoga nidra , you might find these videos useful - ru-vid.com/group/PLz6S27MU8NrpnpVdfSZ1xiIWW3oLFMRtx Yoga Nidra has to be guided, there are certain steps to it and it's best to listen to a commentary live or recorded to practice yoga nidra. I'm glad you wanna introduce your students to Yoga Nidra too. It's a lovely idea. Are you a yoga teacher? ( On a side note - I love Dr. Huberman's podcast. I'm happy so many people are showing an interest in yoga nidra because of him.) - Khush

@@FitNCalm thank you for your rapid, kind and helpful reply. Yes, I have a 500 YTT. I’d studied a few mental and health careers (psychology, Hypnotism, yoga, vegan diet coaching and Aryuveda oil massage…) to have a multiple approach to my clients. What’s the difference between Vipassana meditation and Nidra yoga? Until now my fav meditation has been vipassana meditation and found it quite similar to Nidra Yoga. Thanks again, Namaste from 🇯🇵

I am more than happy to reply . And you have quite the resume! Love that. Like you I love to learn a lot of different things too. And it's always a delight to interact with fellow yoga teachers Ana. Yoga Nidra meditations are guided from the beginning to the end and follow a specific pattern. It is a practice of Pratyahara ( of withdrawing the mind from the outer world and letting it move inwards ). From what I know of Vipassana is that it involves observing your thoughts and emotions. For some people meditation can feel difficult whereas following instructions in yoga nidra comes easy. Yoga nidra works with Internalisation, Sankalpa, Body Awareness, Breath Awareness, Visualisation in a very systematic way. I haven't personally done Vipasanna meditations though but I have done other meditation practices. In my teaching experience, Yoga Nidra is by far the easiest practice for majority of people. People who find 5 mins of meditation a challenge can easily do a 30 min yoga nidra. Do you practice vipassana? What has your experience been with yoga nidra and meditation?

@@FitNCalm Namaste 🙏 Yes I practice everyday Vipassana (sometimes I don’t practice because unexpected things happening…). Most of the people don’t know themselves, not their body, not their feelings and what to do with their lives (their question) so I find vipassana a path to know themselves and at the same time learn how to be still and calm. Vipassana (to see things as they are -is one of the meanings of the word) observe and tries not to intervene on the sensations of your body and gently bringing you back from any ‘distraction’. I prefer to be guided by my favorite channel (I’ll search for it, ha! I can’t even remember the name of the channel) but I can practice it mentally. In Japan I went to a 10 days silent vipassana meditation and the experience was not ideal for me so as usual I use what I think works. I went to a zazen retreat at a temple and didn’t enjoy the main sitting meditation technique but the whole experience was great: eating meditation, walking meditation… I’d loved your Nidra meditation of 18 min? but the longer one I found it complex. I couldn’t get well her English but that’s not a problem that can’t be solved. Anyway, we usually don’t learn or understand with only once experience, one lesson. The Nidra CD I bought in Reshikesh is called YOG NIDRA ‘Secrets of total transformation’ Anandmurti Gurumaa. I’d had practice it a few times and it was delightful. I don’t understand why I didn’t continue. Have you heard about the founder Goenka? of the vipassana retreats around the world? It’s totally free, vegan food, men and women separate rooms, well organized. Thanks for your kind attention. Namaste from 🇯🇵 NOTE: the guided vipassana meditation channel I follow is Can You Zen. I do the shortest and longest ones (the screen is black).
