This does nothing to explain how Edward Blake BECAME the Comedian, it just talked about things he did AS the comedian. You did not talk about his origin. he is one of my favorite characters from all comics he is the realistic hero who was beaten down by life causing him to be a pessimistic cynical man that was a product his time and all the evil he saw and committed in the name of "freedom and the American way" and when they won the freedom they wanted he didn't like what it truly was. he was the purest image of the times he lived in making him an immortal character as one of the greatest created

+Emre Karaman It dropped the ball in its portrayal of The Comedian though. It failed to show him as a conflicted character - a person who sometimes did heroic things and sometimes did absolutely despicable things; instead it portrayed him as mostly a terrible person with no redeeming qualities.

+David Sue i have to disagree slightly, he showed a bit of redeeming qualities when he tried to connect with his daughter although Sally stopped him from doing so. He even reminded Dr. Manhattan that he was losing his humanity, and that in turn helped him to NEVER forget where he came from despite having become into a god-like being. The fight that took place was his way of accepting his fate and seeking redemption through his own death. Then there was the confession with his arch-nemesis that showed that he still felt respect and compassion for his enemy despite their past experiences. I think that was plenty for the film to show in my opinion.

right at the start, you say "like most of the watchmen..." THERE IS NO SUPERHERO TEAM CALLED THE WATCHMEN! the superhero teams in the graphic are the minutemen and the crimebusters they are never called "the watchmen" the "watchmen" title is in reference to plato's republic. do you even philosophy?

they missed on some details, like he was the youngest minutemen, his daughter is the second silk spectre and the reason why he changed his costume to armor I just suggest read the prequel comics with the minutemen and the comedian, they missed out on a lot

Can we just clarify that the only super-team was the Minutemen? There were several attempts to form a new team, but all of them failed. The closest we got was the failed Crimebusters. There is no team known as the "Watchmen". That's just a term that people referred to all vigilantes as in the late 70's: "Who watches the Watchmen?" when vigilantism was going out of style.

In the original comic book series, at the end of each book was a little background that related to that issue. Maybe an excerpt from a Hollis's book, or an interview with one of the characters. The one on Eddy Blake, was his government file. He had also had served in WW2 in the Pacific campaign. Also, you forgot to mention he rescued the hostages in Iran.

Please do Top 10 Superhero movies EXCLUDING Marvel & DC. There are a lot of great ones out there that deserve more atention: Unbreakable, The Crow, Mask of Zorro, Megamind, The Incredibles, Hell Boy, Despicable me, Sky High, Mystery Men, Birdman, Kill Bill, Kick Ass, Pacific Rim. Does anybody know another one?

Kick-Ass (and Kingsman for example) doesn't count as it was published under a Marvel imprints. Unless you can count stuff like V for Vendetta, A History of Violence and A Road to Redemption which are technically DC films. I'd add (depending on the criteria) 300 and Dredd. Then there's whether you include Manga as both Edge of Tomorrow and Oldboy are pretty good.

You know. When I was younger, and had those neat day dreams of being a super hero.. I always thought I'd be like Captain America or Superman.. these days, with seeing how the world is.. I can't help but think I'd turn out pretty close to being like the Comedian.. or at quite possible like the Tomas Wayne Version of Batman from the Flashpoint Paradox movie. However Badass.. it would still be kind of sad.

I don't think he is. The Joker doesn't come to such a conclusion. Rather, he wants to prove how sick and crazy the world actually is and hence he does what does. So he can believe it himself. And he's also frustrated that it's not quite a simple task. The Comedian is quite different. He made a conclusion from what he had seen, heard and experienced. He didn't feel like he needed to prove anything as the evidences were clear, at least to him, as he'd seen it. The Comedian's point is more about how hypocrite can people by ignoring the actual reality while the Joker's point is more about how dumb the world can be for not realising what could possibily going on if the world doesn't change it's way.

It's funny even tho I'm not as obesse with the Watchmen any more and that I have changed, in recent years. I still find myself seeing the world through The Comedian's and Rorsch 's POV

Windson Ma It's funny - I'm on the opposite end of the political spectrum from the Comedian and Rorschach, but I too share many of their views on humans. I know that people tend to be self-serving scum, and that the sickness and corruption run bone deep. I suppose I'm more of a "Do as thou wilt, if it harms none," sort. Something closer to a John Constantine, I suppose. I know that it's all a sick joke and a rigged game, but I still have to try to make things better in the small ways I can, in full knowledge that I'm also something of an asshole myself.
