It’s been a couple or so decades since I seen this one, great to see it again! It was always easier to install the cassette housing with the unit in the half-loaded position, you didn’t really need to take it apart as they mention, in the video, you just have to pull that rack gear on the cass housing under tension to get it properly aligned with the gear on the chassis. This was awesome man thanks for uploading this!

I made a big mistake and installed the cassette housing in the ejected position while the gears were in the half-loaded position. RIP NV-FS200 S-VHS. :(

@@iRepairElectronics I spent 12 hours - 2 late nights + a long morning - comparing three videos and going back & forth to ensure I didn't muck anything up, and double-checking, as the AG-W1 is a solid player as well. I had 2 of the model a good 20 years ago, and the only issue was heat; the lack of any fan ensured long hours of operation would heat up circuits and fry something (which did occur). But if you add a Sears fan in the back, the issue is gone. Your posted video has the right pacing for a novice, and one also develops deserved admiration for Panasonic's engineers in trying to simplify a complicated assembly for repairs. Best Wishes - Mark H.

Thanks so much for sharing this video easy to follow. I was able to align my AG-1970 and get it working again. It has been sitting for a few years and now most of the flip down control panel buttons do not work. Can the flip down panel be taken apart and cleaned or repaired?

If the tape is moving, you might have dirty heads. I will put up a video soon on how to clean video heads without breaking them

Hi. I recently overhauled an NV-7500 and it's now fully working so I might be able to help. Does the pinch roller solenoid kick in after the mechanism finishes its loading process?

Wow, no vcr mechanism should be this complicated , this is a bad design......but still an interesting vid.
@NikHYTWP
@NikHYTWP 4 года назад
How is this complicated? It's close to any standard VCR mechanism - they're all complicated (and good designs). The only ones I'd call "not complicated" are the plastic ones from the early 00's to the end of VCR production, and those were cheap, nasty and broke easily. This is what a VCR mech should be like, nice big chunk of metal with low quantities of plastic, shame they stopped doing it instead choosing to lower costs with plastic.
@crashbandicoot4everr
@crashbandicoot4everr 3 года назад
The G mechanism is just over-engineered. Compare this to the previous D mechanism and you'll see...
@video99couk
@video99couk Год назад
You can see why the K-mechanism was designed to be much easier to align. And it is. I had to do one recently because the large sliding assembly had split, I just followed the service manual and put it together no problem, having never re-timed one before. The G-mechanism is a lot harder to work on. It's also very slow and clunky in operation compared to the K.
