Oriole Ghost Town Phosphate Mines in Withlacoochee State Forest

During the late 1800's there was a small community in this area known as Oriole. Today it is part of Withlacoochee State Forest. Some traces of the history still remain. Take a journey with me on this video as I explore some of the old phosphate mines and other history in the area. More footage coming soon, check out the links below to learn more about the history to see my previous videos there. Please be respectful of the history that remains when visiting this place. Some of those pits have been reused now for mtbiking and bmx dirtjumps trails and bike trails. That area is ripe for some bike trails cut through

FT--- Love your videos. You do us all a great service with these...the people who founded these little towns, stout hearts, hardy people--- we built on top of them, on what they started. Without these pioneers there would BE no US. Keep it up!

Big finds on this trip! The mill must have been a big investment. I suppose the companies transported the machinery by rail to the next location when the mill closed.

this may be my imagination drifting off but it would could to see you add to your explorations maybe famous historic places robberies/crimes/murders/crime discoveries etc were found in these historic areas you visit as more history on the places. but again maybe thats asking much of your adventures (: I enjoy them anyhow
