Oh my god, you guys are my absolute fave. I'm literally 2 months away from arriving in Rome. 3 months from Palermo. My family on my moms side is Sicilian, with the last name Mannina, (from Ventimiglia). I can not wait to get there, and study the history. Thank for the videos. They have helped a ton, and make me nothing but excited to arrive!
Aww thank you Richard, we're so happy to hear that! Your journey sounds like it is going to be incredible 😍 Take in as much beautiful history as you can while strengthening your roots and we look forward to hearing about your adventures 🥰
Definitely a pretty chill small city in Sicily. I agree with just walking around and having nowhere to really be. Your best bet is taking a cab to the ancient site 15 mins away and hitting up the bars along the water. Also a very liberal city, the only place in Italy that I smelt weed!
I was howling with the umbrella/raining scene. Too darn funny - especially during the LONG walk across the bridge with the wind! Your sense of normalcy under whatever confronts you two makes me want to keep watching! Happy New Year to you both!
hope you enjoyed my city. I have been living in another city for three years and I miss Syracuse so much. Unfortunately we do not have a good policy and the city often does not have services and is dirty, this I am very sorry, because with its history, its sea and its food, it is unique in the world. I miss him so much. Forgive me for my terrible English. I embrace you, Chiara.
Ortigia, a beautiful place full of things to explore. Even if the weather wasn't great, I hope you enjoyed it. Waiting for your next beautiful video for sure. Thanks a lot for sharing your travel memories.
I'm a Physician in Manhattan getting close to retirement and now divorced sadly.....I am looking towards Sicily to retire too.....I think the video was great for it showed more of a regular day than a jam packed excitement video...I hope to make it there and maybe find a new love.....
Wow! So beautiful. Discovered my ancestors were probably from Syracuse so for sure a visit next Summer. Nice video guys! Be sure to visit us in Piemonte!
Even though you couldn’t get into the multiple places you wanted to, the video is great! This town is stunning with so much history and that one that gave you a glass of champagne at the end of the tour is totally worth the 7€. I loved your little twirl 😄🩰. You had me cracking up with that 5€ umbrella!!!🤣🤣
Syracusa is definitely my favorite because of its old town on a peninsula jetting out into the crystal clear clean Mediterranean Sea. Now I learn that old town of Syracusa is called Ortigia.
I am planning a short stay in sicily in December. Therefore I'm really enjoying your videos recently. They really help to plan my own trip on the island. Thank you for sharing your impressions :)
Unfortunate that you weren't there during better weather. There really is so much to do and see there and the markets are fun. The Medicane was a pretty big event for that part of Sicily.
Currently sweating it out in Ortigia watching this vid after a siesta cos too hot to be out in middle of the day and your ‘rain’ is cooling me down! 🥵☔️ At least everything is open though, no shortage of gelato and granita here!
Haha some parts I found genuinely funny. Love your channel and vlogging. We were planning to go to Syracuse this summer, but changed our minds to Positano instead, but who knows 😄
Hi guys, love your videos and beautiful footage of all the places you've visited. We're planning a trip to Syracuse in July and wondering where you stayed in the city. Thanks in advance. ;)
Great video. So informative and interesting. Can you do a video about Roseto Foggia? Much of the Italian community in the United States and Canada traces its origins to that little town.
The second greatest English poet John Milton mentions the fountain of Arethusa in his poem "Lycidas:" "Oh fountain Arethuse and thou honoured flood ..." -in ancient Greek and Roman poetry it was seen as one of the inspirations of pastoral poetry
Totally agree Ortigia is so beautiful and charming...I saw the most beautiful "bar," it was candles in a beautiful courtyard. Stayed in a courtyard place with keys. It's crazy romantic, I just need to return with a partner.🤣
The weather was not on your side was? I love how you guys just made the most of it and had a great day anyway. I was so sad for you both when you could not go down into the bunker. Thanks for another great episode.
Ah yes we can't always predict the weather but we can always try and find the silver lining! 🥰 Thank you Kerryn and Phil, the bunker was a bummer so we will have to return for them some day soon! 🙌🏽
Super beautiful. So much to see in Sicily that we didn’t realize or know about. Thank you for this series. We’ve really enjoyed it. Looking for to next region too.
Which month was this you were traveling in Sirakusa? I am thinking of going there in late october and stay until end of November. would you recommend that period ?
I just love your videos !! You guys are the best .. We will be spending 5 nights in Ortigia in September , using it as our base to visit Noto , Modica and Ragusa . Do you feel we could visit using public transportation or should I rent a car ?? Thanks so much for the advice !
Hi guys. I am struggling to decide where to go this year, Trapani or Syracuza region for 5 days? We love italian food, the sea, the natural beauty and the italian buildings. Which one do you reccommend? Thanks.
you have missed three very important locations in Siracusa: TEATRO GRECO, ORECCHIO DI DIONISO and CATACOMBE CRISTIANE!!!!!!!!!!!!! TEATRO GRECO and ORECCHIO DI DIONISO are some of the most important MAGNA GRECIA MONUMENTS!!!! HOW HAVE YOU MISSED THEM??!!
Hey Alfredo, I have not encountered any problems flying my drone yet. If there are no drone shots in a video that is because that area is locked and the drone will not take off, however, my drone is fully registered with the Italian (European) aviation authorites and is legal to fly in the open zones. I have a DJI Mini 2 and so it does not have as many restrictions as the bigger drones. You can find the registration website here, just be cautious of your surroundings and abide by the rules, and you should be fine! 😅 www.d-flight.it/web-app/
