I live in Osaka and wanted to thank you for introducing me to a couple of shops I’ve never been to, and I’ve been doing the rounds for over 20 years! Happy to see you had a great experience here.
So glad I stumbled upon these videos! My brother and I are planning out our first trip to Japan and I didn’t even think about the music shops there. Love the videos!
Hi, I live in Fukuoka, and I go to Osaka for work, so I often go to Second Street Ongakukan, Ishibashi, Miki Gakki, etc. Sometimes I make impulse purchases. A friend of mine once sold his '66 Jazzmaster on consignment at Guitar Licks. I'd like to go guitar hunting in various cities too! Have a good trip! With the guitars!
It's funny to hear Floridians complain that Osaka is hot. I'm from Puerto Rico and I never experienced heat like Osaka in July and especially in August 2024. I lived all over the US south including FL, LA and NC. Like my kids tells our friends when they visit: Welcome to the soup!!! Otogura is my favorite small guitar shop in Osaka. I try to go every month because he always has something interesting. Glad to see it featured!
An Aussie and a Yank walk into a guitar store in Japan .... LOL. It certainly IS a small world. Thanks for the great videos. Cheers from the Land Down Under.
Gonna sit back watch whole video uninterrupted. Flash Flood Videos like a fine wine; let them age a day or two so you can appreciate them when you're ready. Then watch the Cleveland Baltimore game
I understand that you need to buy guitars you can sell back home as in Fenders but some of the Japan hand made Bacchus, Edwards, History etc are awesome too
Stumbled across your channel as I'm trying to rekindle my guitar playing. Was in Osaka a couple of weeks ago and walked out with two Gibson Les Pauls from Ishibashi. Was checking out some of the shops you mentioned and when I'm back there in November I'll be paying them a visit for sure.
i feel like hiring a runner with a JR pass could have gotten u more guitars from Osaka to Tokyo. Something to think about for your next buying trip. Nice score
Great stuff! I just got a Squier Thinline Tele Fsr in Sherwood Green and it was the last one in my local shop! Some guy even came to buy it two hours later.
the exchange rates makes those trips very financially viable. Plus the instruments are well taken care of by Japanese in general. There was a sweet Gibson G3 in dark red...
Oh man thats the dream, running around Japan to guitar shops for a full day... When i finally get to go I'm sure my bank account will be much lighter afterwards!
Thanks for this. I'll be going to Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, and Tokyo in October, so it's haney to know some good spots. I'm hoping to get a nice ESP or Nsvigator. Getting it back to Canada will be the challenge. I've heard varying reports of success flying back with them, but shipping from another country sounds like it might be tricky.
You just missed out on my Gibson Explorer deal by a week or so. Osaka Ishibashi shipped to NZ in seven days. Mint condition apart from one tiny cloudy spot on the clear coat on the heel. About 40% the new retail price here in NZ. Maybe can get better used Gibson deals in the USA, but pretty good for here in NZ. It's not for flipping though. It's the guitar I've wanted since I was an 80s kid, but I always ended up buying other models. Chuffed :)
@@aflashfloodofgear - Concur! Nagoya is amazing! The Deviser (Aska factory), Fujigen etc. guitar factories are located in Nagano prefecture which is worthy of visiting! Would love to to come to one of your gigs next time! Cheers
The solid red fernandez ken Strat is following you around...learning...adapting. Judging from how many of those are on reverb and / or Ishibashi...thismust have been a prominent Guitar...almost as if Larc en Ciel are famous or smth.
kind of a dumb question, but how does he turn a profit if he's buying at these retail shops and shipping them back to the u.s.? my experience at these shops is that the prices are generally higher than the same you can find in the u.s. (yes, even with the devalued yen at the moment).
Need help with identifying a couple of Japanese guitars I recently purchased. They are old. One is a bass guitar sg style the other one is a Telecaster style. I can send you some pictures of them. Please let me know. Thanks.
How much does it cost to ship a guitar from Japan to the US? Planning on going in march and would like to ship on back instead of taking it on the plane with me
Its been nearly 10 years since I was last in Japan and I regret not buying that k.yairi.... need an excuse to go to Japan, scared my wallet couldnt handle it!
Love y’all’s videos, but you just showed shopping. I wish you souls show the actual guitars that you buy. Even show some negotiations on package deals. Looks like a fun trip though.
Sad Trogly is starting to buy and review the same guitars that Alex is buying. I hate when these people start using other RU-vidr's format when they are running out of content to share
