OSFT VLog | July 2nd 2016 - Visiting Tasmania in search of a new place to live

Sitting here about to go to school. "Hey I got 20 minutes let's watch an OSFirstTimer Video." Started watching this then looked at the time. 1 Hour and 50 Minutes this is like a movie. Anyways awesome video as usual.

What a stressful long and compact trip! You flew 2 hours to another state to see 7 houses and returned back home on the same day! And none of the 7 houses was the one you eventually moved into. I can imagine how tired and sleepy you were when you returned home that night! I was wondering at the beginning of the video "where are their luggage?!" Never imagined you will return on the same day. Very impressive!

I think I need to give some context here... In general Australian properties are expensive. You can buy cheaper properties though in less popular areas, for example clarendon vale which is fairly close to the Hobart CBD (20 minutes) has 3 bedroom houses with large backyards available for around 150K. This particular area though has a higher crime rate than most areas in Hobart. What you were looking at here were properties in Sandy Bay. This is practically the second most expensive area in Tasmania thus why you saw that water front property for 1.6 million. This is CHEAP however to compared to Sydney. In an area near Sydney called "mosman", water front properties are going for 15/16 million. That's 10x more expensive than sandy bay just because it is near Sydney. So these properties you saw here looked like absolute steals to us as we have never been able to afford a house by the sea before (only apartments living in Sydney). Most people I speak to around Sydney think I'm nuts to even mention the word "Tasmania". They go, "ooohhh noooo you can't like there, it's not habitable, way toooo coooollld!.". I mean seriously? I went there in winter and I loved the temperature!

Just came across this vlog and want to say you did a marvelous job of creating a truly enjoyable experience of watching your family house hunting in Tassie. My wife and I live in New Mexico and we vacation in Tassie every few years and have done so since 1999. Capturing the flight from Sydney to the green hills of Tassie in the early morning brings back so many great memories. Seeing the inside of some of the homes around Sandy Bay was a real treat. If there were an award for this as a documentary I would vote it the winner hands down. You see as older people we appreciate the human comedy much more than you ever can as a young person. Best of luck to you and your family. Our next trip to Tassie is in January of 2018 and your vlogs just get us excited to visit again.

Well it's quite apparent that you aren't the best travellers, haven't been on a plane for fourteen years! I was at Sydney Airport not long before you, I infact just got off one, ADL - PER. If you buy the Second Last house you'll be able to see my cruise come in on one of the biggest cruise ships in the world! Tasmania looks amazing and I would really like to live there, I watched this whole video and enjoyed every bit, hope you find a great house.

I'm in Canada, and i think 9 degrees is warm! It was crazy to me when you out on all those coats!

When we went off to Lanzarote on Sep 7th 2019, we had to wake up at 2:30 to then get out of the airport hotel and then drive to East Midlands Airport in the UK and then take FR3172 departing at 7:20AM to Lanzarote which is 4 hours. You are lucky but at least i enjoyed my holiday and i hope you did too! :)

In regards to prices, interestingly, we've come across a reasonably priced house in Howrah (very close to Hobart), It's not 'cheap' but it's not bad, which is pretty good as it's still close to Hobart

funny story. I was going to the gold coast in 2013 and we couldn't find Sydney airport secure parking so we thought blue emu was the parking space so we were there for 45 minutes then took a shuttle to the terminal where we nearly missed our jetstar flight to the gold coast

Sorry if this is a rather un-noteworthy comment but near the beginning of the vlog, the fact that the steering wheel was on the right really bugged me out at first like, what? I keep forgetting other countries have driver sides on the right.
