Just the Meleer waves from the Floor is Lava CA. I brought webweaver for longrange DPS vs melee respawns and it came in quite handy in the late waves, worth bring if you have it but definitely not essential.
If the melee spawns south consider immediately running south yourself, especially if you also want to defend south pillar from a south nibbler spawn. Otherwise, step out east/west to unstuck the meleer and pull it around to the north end of pillar.
If you kill the melee before the mage, clear everything else south of the pillar before letting the mage attack you if possible. The respawned melee can fail the task and you want to be able to get on it immediately, so having a clear south is crucial.
