OSUMB Drum Major John LaVange twirls to Beethoven’s 5th and 9th Symphonies during his final feature in Ohio Stadium. The weather conditions were less than ideal.
I can’t agree with you more, Howland High School never cared for him and favored others, but he proved them wrong through dedication and hard work. He’s the best of the best!
Quite the showman! His very presence in front of this terrific band does make a real difference!! Considering the rain, I'm surprised he could twirl so well...skilled hands!! Well done! Thanks for posting this delightfully entertaining video!
John certainly put his talented images in the history book of Ohio drum majors for sure. Only suppose to bend backwards to touch hat to ground to form the Ohio "O"... but he could touch ground with his bare head and bounce back up. About 16to 18 inches farther... Unbelievable. Fantastic John Lagrange. 🌟🏈🌟
BRAVO! CONGRATULATIONS For the first time I saw the video of your competition yesterday and your feed came up it was posted by your competitor who came in second place. You by far sir are the champ! Again congratulations thank you for this post but came up on my RU-vid feed
My jaw dropped watching your drum major audition. When you came out with that perfect high kick march and the back bend…AMAZING. Such great school spirit.
I just happened to watch the video of you auditioning the other day. You were the first one. I picked you from the very beginning. I am so glad you made it. Great Job John. I know I am a little behind but still.
So funny, his audition randomly came up in my feed yesterday… just watched it cuz I was curious. He was sharp as a razor and had an excruciating level of difficulty in his routines! Now this finale shows up in my feed today… and I’m not even a OS or marching band fan!!🤔🤔😂😂😂😂 Fun to watch tho!
Solid as a rock JLV! This is a tough thing to do perfectly but you have definitely set a new bar for excellence. What's funny to me is that after seeing the old '40s Michigan State drum major photo with all the children marching behind I googled "drum major" and came up not with ramp entrances but with tryouts the year you auditioned. You were first and even though I knew nothing about serious drum major work I thought, "That's the guy to beat." I watched the whole video and didn't change my mind. Well, you've just kept ripening into a superstar! Congrats
Wow...WOW...*W O W I E* ... I never realized until recently just how much athleticism & precision goes into being a Drum Major...John LaVange has to be one of the most talented Drum Majors of all time...I just watched his audition video & realized just how hard these young folks must have to work & practice & practice & practice to get to this level & have such mind-blowing excellent timing...Way to go John!!!
I never knew drum majors that were the baton twirlers. I always saw my best friend to twirl her baton as a majorette and she was by herself and sometimes with other girls but along the same rank but a little more than a flag girl.
It is absolutely fantastic, what this man can do with a baton. In Germany, we have nothing comparable to university marching bands and their drum majors.
John LaVange it's sad but I know that the Ohio state university marching band will always be TBDBITL.. congratulations on graduating..what's your major study anyway?
