@@skdavidnbait was a life or death situation for her. the phrase “i love you” would have such a great impact in a negative way since brooke was her best friend. however, her deepest desire was coming out just in case she could never reveal her feelings WHICH she never really did, she was holding it in for a very long time sooo it was like a big arc for her. its similar to being romantic but in my opinion its more than that.
When i first watched OTH i knew they could never be just friends. Nathan and Peyton had a friendship that made it obvious they had a romantic past but they were both fully happily moved on, these two though? HAH they cant even look at each other without showing how much they want to be together

Hilarie Burton does not get enough credit what a great actress. The emotion she puts into all the scenes that require it, is simply magnificent. She always gives 110 %. I loved this scene and I knew and this point that these two were and are - end goals. The chemistry is amazing 😊
The fear in his eyes of seeing Peyton hurt, struggling to keep awake, is so powerful. Deep down you know he truly Loves Her. The most powerful promise he made at that moment, he won't let anything happen to her 😢😢😢 a truly heartbreaking episode 💔
@@kellyolson1952 Yeah, they were always endgame but the creator wanted to drag it out and the creator had this stupid idea where he wanted Lucas to choose between three girls instead of just having them be happy.
In addition to being a gamechanger for the characters, he was also on the show. After this event, the series was not the same but in a good way. This episode still impacts me after years.
I know a lot of people count this as cheating but I don’t either because Peyton was dying and it wasn’t intentional by Lucas to try and kiss her. All I take away from this is a guy sacrificing his life to save someone else
If Lucas and Peyton were just honest about their feels for one another. They would have saved Brooke, themselves, and others (Lindsay and Julian) lot of heartache.

The fact that he kissed her back Lucas knew deep down that he still loved her despite the fact he's with Brooke. If this was any other girl he would have said "I have a girlfriend" but even with Lindsay Lucas kissed Peyton back because he knew he still loved her
After this episode is when the creator and writers should have broken up him and Brooke so that they could have built up him and Peyton so that she could have helped him deal with Keith's death without being in secret and we could have gotten more time with him and Peyton together instead of the end of Season 4 and beginning of Season 6.
Not true, yes they use it in a lot of Leyton scenes, but there a few other scenes they’ve used it in like when Breyton are fighting in front of the house or another scene I believe that had something to do with Naley (that one I could be mistaken, but definitely used in the Breyton one)
@@massirahmanzai8810 they used it in the rain when Brooke was yelling at Lucas for what he wrote to Peyton “I will love you forever”. Instead of Lucas telling Brooke the truth, that he meant everything he said in that letter to Peyton & he copied it word for word when he wrote one to Brooke because he didn’t want to be alone, he lied and told Brooke it was meaningless & he meant it when he wrote it to her only. Unless Peyton is involved, this song won’t play.

Can someone please explain why she kissed him in the first place? Yes I know everyone likes to say she thought she was going to die blah blah blah, but that doesn’t explain why she did it like what was the reason for it? Did she want to kiss him for trying to rescue her? Was it her way of showing gratitude? Would she have done it if it was someone else rescuing her and not Lucas? Or was it because she loved him and knew she loved him and wanted to kiss him one last time incase she dies and never gets the chance to ever do it again? That’s what I want to know because if that’s the case then she knew she had feelings for him way before she admitted it to Brooke later on in the season 😚
im 8 months late BUT she kissed him because it was her deepest desire. she thought she would never get the chance to do all the things she wish she could do and that was tell him how she feels and kiss him one last time because she loved kissing him. she just didnt want to die with regrets yk
