It sounds kinda like Portuguese to me too. I hear no French accent at all (which there shouldn't be, because the phonolgy is similar to Ligurian), but that might just be because I'm more informed.

For me, as a Portuguese speaker, Galician is pretty much Portuguese but with a clear "Spanish" accent (or at least a Spanish influence on the accent, because that nasal sound of "un" or the diphtong sounds are clearly not Spanish at all).

Galician and Portuguese are the same language, the grammatical differences are small to be different languages.

Falante de hispânico é algo exagerado kkkkkk Sou falante de português... O galego pra mim é perfeitamente compreensível, até inteligível. Me vejo perfeitamente saindo daqui do Brasil e indo em viagem para a Galiza, sei lá eu entenderei a todos e serei entendido também. Até porque no passado medieval, havia uma só língua na Ibéria Ocidental, o galego-português (é bonito saber que era a língua artística da Ibéria, usada em poemas e cantigas por artistas castelhanos e leoneses ao invés da própria língua). Depois de séculos, houve uma separação lexical por conta da anexação e influência castelhana sobre a Galiza.

@@orangetv3tgl144 yes, many other romance languages use it as "sh". Sicilian speakers usually don't even know this, because we don't know the traditional sicilian orthography, since we write in Italian...

Aromanian isn't a dialect of Romanian but of Proto-Romanian. Aromanian, Istro-Romanian, Daco-Romanian and Megleno-Romanian are languages developed from Proto-Romanian. And Aromanian is spoken mainly in Greece 😊

From the point of view of a Spanish native speaker from Latin America who is studying Portuguese, I'm actually surprised how much similar is Galician to Spanish than Portuguese and Catalan. I feel more as if I was hearing a transition between Spanish and Portuguese.

@@diogorodrigues747 Perdón, me explico mejor: lo que quise decir es que entre portugués, gallego y catalán, me sorprendió que el que más se parezca de estos tres a español sea gallego. Yo sé que el gallego está más emparentado con el portugués por venir ambos del gallego-portugués, pero igual, pensé que tendría una diferencia más grande con el español, como sí la tiene con el portugués.
