Two very unorthodox guitarists here - Otis Rush on right-handed strung guitar played upside-down left handed, and Anthony Palmer, a self-taught guitarist who nobody showed how to tune a guitar, so he did them all to the fifth fret. That means his open B string is in C, and his top E is an F! Pick up his guitar to have a noodle and you're in for a big surprise. 😄
Too bad blues is not about the guitar. That's just his accessory to him singing the blues. But you wouldn't know anything about that because you THINK you know about blues but you don't. All you know is the pentatonic scale. There's a lot of you people who think just because you can play "blues guitar" (whatever that means) that it makes you a blues man. No. You're an enthusiast you don't know blues. You live no blues. You're a white guy who loves the sound of guitar. This music is our souls being beared. Heart and ssoul.not just guitar kicks you loser. You're a poser. You and all the rest of your kind
This is how it's done! Just magical. Slow burning blues! Just brilliant! RIP, Otis. U r the best, u r a legend. Thank u for all yr amazing contributions! U r an absolute Star! We miss u!!! Why did u leave us?
I met Otis before a show in NYC, he was telling me how his tour bus had broken down/ spoke to me as if we were life long friends- This was 1986 at Trammps/ same year as this video. I can go to my grave having met my blues idol. RIP "MY FRIEND."
I LOVE OTIS RUSH. I WISH HIM THE BEST AS HE CONTINUES TO RECOVER FROM HIS 2004 STROKE. ONE OF THE BEST BLUES MUSICIAN OF ALL TIMES. ALL MY LOVE, MISS YOU AND WISHING YOU A TOTAL RECOVERY.
@@sadhvacman7238 Yeah I play a bit and that's crazy. It takes a while to fully comprehend that. For instance I am more focused on playing lead and if I'm not mistaken having all the thin strings up top means you got to bend down rather than up and that's just one thing to ponder. I'm slightly dyslexic so this kind of discombobulates the mathematical side of my brain. LOL 🤔🤔🙃🙃
@@BarbButler Yeah? You got to see Otis at Chicago Blues too. I remember that night because there was another man at the other end of the bar who kind of looked like Otis and was wearing the same hat. I asked the bartender to buy him a drink the bartender and him must have found that amusing. the guy waited till he was halfway through his drink to come up and thank me at which point I realized I just bought a stranger a drink. I admit I was a little peeved and it must have shown on my face cause that man bought me the next round. LMAO 🤣 but looking back those were good times. I'm 60 now and I remember thinking I was starting to get old at 40. I would give anything to be 40 again !! LOL. ♥️
@@Santiago-hg6hk That’s a great story!! Those were definitely the good old days!! I regret some of the shows I missed @ Chicago B.L.U.E.S. but I will forever be grateful for the ones I did see! I saw Otis Rush two nights in a row there (circa 1994-1995). Incredible... as you know!! I even went back (by myself, and I was the only female) to wait with all the guys, to talk to him after the last show. I told him I had read that Jimi Hendrix had really wanted to meet him... and did that ever happen? He said, “no, but I wish I would have gotten to meet him”. I was beside myself!! I couldn’t believe I had actually spoken to The Great Otis Rush!!!🥰 😎🥰 Did you ever get a chance to catch any Johnny Copeland shows there? My late and great boyfriend, Floyd Phillips, played keyboards for Johnny.💙🎼💙

2nd guitar: Anthony Palmer & keyboards: Professor Eddie Lusk. I have the 3-CD Italian bootleg "Pure Blues" of this Montreux '86 concert with Clapton & Phil Collins on CD 1&2. Clapton joins Otis Rush on CD 3. I think Luther Allison is on there, too.
*Otis Rush - April 29, 1934 - September 29, 2018* Shared on FB, April 29, 2021 - Musicians: Anthony Palmer, guitar - Professor Eddie Lusk, keyboards - Fred Barnes, bass - Eddie Turner, drums.
His name is Anthony Palmer.See u tube video Otis Rush live at Montreux the casino that some fool with a flare gun burned to the ground,"Smoke on the water fire in the sky.
Joanie Barc thanks came back to this song to find out the guitarist I clicked on the comment and saw I asked the same question 8 months ago. Thanks man!!
Check out Professor's Boogie - Proessor Eddie Lusk (on keyboard here) and Anthony Palmer on guitar (misnaed as Eddie Palmer). It's bloody good! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QrYmFOp3HKc.html
He is one of the top blues guitar greats. Both his singing, and playing, are unique and technically as good,if not better, as anything by Albert, Buddy or Jimmy, different in it's own way. I like his ideas better.
MAN HOW BOUT THAT FOR A LINE UP ,SHOULD HAVE CALLED THEMSELVES THE PIONEERS CAUSE THAT IS WHAT THEY WERE SOME STILL ARE,BUDDY GUY FOR INSTANCE THEY PAVED THR WAY LOVE TO HEAR PLAY AND SING THE BLUES WALTER B,MEMPHIS TAKE CARE AND STAY WELL !!! THIS NEW MUSIC IS JUST NOT THE SAME,MOSTLY CRAROLA IT REALLY IS.!
I guess Jeff Beck or Rod Stewart forgot to give Otis credit for this one on the "Truth" album. It's called "Blues DeLuxe" there . . . Nevertheless--Beck ripped it up!
Actually this a BB King lyric, check out BB's "Gambler's Blues." That's who Beck should have credited and paid royalties to. Otis then segues into another King song, "It's My Own Fault."
the antithetical gambler whether it love or the tables.....strictly a game of give and take. and how he always cops to being guilty/naively vulnerable.."i don't know much about gamblin', I don't know much about the dice" RIP MR RUSH
Wow, after 7 months :D Well, it seams that has been a misunderstanding, i thought that you "where" listening to this music and you dont listen to it anymore today. I was just wondering why someone would listen to this when he was young and not when he is old :D. Good music has nothing to do with age but you would not be able to listen to kids music today, like Linkin Park and Justin Bibier.
Strange, this music is for old persons, why dont you listen this now that you are old and listened to this when you where young? What music do you listen now, Linkin Park and Justin Bibier?
