What an interesting interview. Mooi so Izak. Another little tip. Install 12V LED lighting and connect to your car's battery with crocodile clamps. 6 of 3W downlights and 2 of 10W spotlights. Total 38Watts. When you drive down the road tomorrow, the battery charges. Danke Vir die onderhoud Izak. Ek Glo Saar is baie menses gehelp.
@@derekstuart9717 I understand that,I'm just giving some advice on how to have some power during loadshedding, and you don't need a electrical engineer to connect it,it plain and simple to connect it, instructions are on every item bought, even herein RU-vid many videos giving instructions,u can also go smaller,1 x 100 watt solar panel, 1 x 100 ah 🔋, 1 solar charger controller, 550/850 watt inverter, it can run TV lights hi Fi,
My internet verskaffer het vir my vir R900 'n klein ups laat inprop langs my wifi modem. Veral op stoep by swembad is tealights strategies geplaas mooier as my buitelig.
I am 90% off grid at less than R200k. No gas used, no cold water and no degree. No stupid lead acid batteries, no UPS no special planning during load shedding. Go full on solar. If power goes up by 8% a year you would pay it off in less than 8 years. Then free power for at least the next 12 years. Escom is raising prices by more than 8%. My cost paying back the system stay the same. The more they raise the price the quicker I pay off my system.
@@sf1915Mind your manners. Ask politely... Deye 8kW inverter 11 Solar panels in 2 strings (inverter has 2 MMPT's AlphaESS 10.1kw Li battery Solar tubes for 1 geyser ITS 4.5kW inverter pump for 2nd geyser. Note: Equivalent to 4.5kW but only draws 1.26kw instead of 3.6 kW for a standard geyser. Replaced standard lights with LED lights
@S F Second option is same as above, but more panels, 1.5-2kWkW element in the Geyser/s. Then make the Geyser part of the electrical system. Just don't go the Car battery rype route. That will be a waste of money
Sorry to say but a totally romantic view from a retired person on the situation. How does one use a solar cooker when you leave home at 7 in the morning and come home at 8 at night ? Furthermore, Dr Voslo works on the assumption that the power situation will get no worse, that there will be no true brown/blackouts caused by further equipment failure and mismanagement, without mentioning flat out sabotage, which is likely the cause of at least 50% of current problems. All signs point to a total grid failure being on the horizon at which point Dr Voslo is going to be SOL. I should also add that ZA labor cost is so high (approximately 5x in annual cost for educated workers compared to the USA and one has to question the productivity one is getting at that cost) that there is no chance investors are coming back, nor would it be possible to develop and market any kind of export product that could actually compete in the global market.
@@ellaahlers5080 You are mistaken, I have read between the lines. Here is an individual who worked for Eskom, which has not YET gone bankrupt, thus he is still getting a very nice pension (financially independent). Someone who worked for a company who has gone bankrupt may not be getting a pension anymore. Wonder how his position will look when that day arrives, because if things keep up it will. If the grid does go down, which is what is threatening to happen now on an almost daily basis, then his entire system, which is totally dependent on ESKOM will be useless. My father retired from the railway (Spoornet) and his pension is about R3500/month. How far does that get you at todays prices in ZA ? Fortunately he is now in New Zealand together with his daughters and grandkids. Otherwise he would have been SOL too.
Goed ontwerpte solar systeme, se krag kos elkegval goedkoper as eskom, LCOE bereken.
