That's what I was thinking. The battery capacity is at the point where it's not too heavy, but it can do a lot of the things that the bigger power stations, that weigh twice as much, can do, just not for as long.

Cool! My philosophy when it comes to any power box or generator. If you are running close to max, you have the wrong size. Size does matter, so if you run these things up to 75%/ 80%, you have the correct size; any above 80% again, the wrong size. The sweet spot for these power boxes/ generator(s) is 75% of their capabilities. Hopefully, they should last for a long time with no electrical problems. My two cents! : )

I love the portability of the power station and considered purchasing one to do a hard line connection to the 12 volt fuse block in my camper. What I'm finding is they all use a 12V cigarette plug connection and I do not find that to be a reliable way of connecting to the fuse block. The main function of the power station would be running my 12V fridge,diesel heater when needed for heat,lights and water pump. Relying on a cigarette lighter plug to supply power for my fuse block makes me quite nervous. So I'm back to either buying a 12V LiFPo battery or build my own battery bank!
@gonagain
@gonagain 2 года назад
I hear you on that. It can be done, but you may need to duct tape the male plug into the power station to keep it from falling out. Been there, done that. Another possibility for you is the Bluetti AC200P or AC200 Max which have a dedicated 12volt outlet of 25 or 35 amps that is designed to hook up to your RVs DC system.

After I was whining about these power stations not having the ability to connect to an RV fuse block I looked at the Bluetti AC200P you mentioned and sure enough it has a DC 25 amp plug! Then I went back and watched again your first and second review of the AC200P and you pointed out that very same plug!! Don't know where my mind was during your review but I totally missed it!! I'm ordering the AC200P and the RV cable for an upcoming camping trip. Have you had a chance to use yours in your CT? I hope you do a review of how it worked. Hello Rick nice to see you again and I hope all is good with you all. I have to say I do like what I'm hearing with the Oupes all but the plugs for the solar I like my bluetti's with the easy to use solar plugs that I all ready have and I am looking at the bigger bluetti now with the two batteries and not needing to use little plugs I like everything to be the same less crap I have to carry around with me and I already have spare parts for what I use. We had bad storms here last night and I got yet another chance to use my bluetti's to run my lap top and big TV so I could finish up some paper work and run my lights and I did that with only one and for about 4 hour's and only used 9% I am slowly learning just how much I can do with them and so far so good. I am still going to add a fuse or cut off for my solar coming in like you did but I am waiting to see the new fix you have for that I am also trying to find out how I could switch from one bluetti to the others with out having to unplug the cables to plug into the other one. You all take care and stay safe.

The Jackery used an older type of lithium batteries, which could overheat - but probably will not, because the Jackery is a good system. Modern solar generators use LiFePO4 Batteries, which are much less likely to catch on fire (and last longer).

Dear Gonagain, As one who is new to solar generators, I also purchased the Oupes 1800W w/ (2) 100W solar panels, and I have a technical question/ concern to ask as I approach 1 month of ownership: The left and right inputs vary significantly in their registered solar wattages from solar panels. For example, on a fairly sunny day, when I plugged (1) 100W solar panel into the Left input, the unit consistently registered around 40-50W, which was noted throughout repeated trials to be about 8W less than what the unit registered when the same panel was plugged into the Right input. I noticed the same thing happen on other occasions as well, even on an overcast day when the Left input registered only 1-2W and the Right registered 4-5W, again a consistent result while patiently and repeatedly swapping back and forth between the two inputs using the same solar panel. Responding very well to my inquiries, Oupes, has assured me that this is normal and even consistent across other popular brands they tested. Presently, I am debating on returning/ exchanging the unit as my window to do so is closing fast. As a greenhorn to this type of electronics, to me this seems like a significant disparity in function and a concerning compromise in offered benefits. Have you noticed the same thing with your 1800W Oupes? Notably, when being fed the steady supplies of either AC or DC power (not solar), both inputs registered 187W for 110V AC and 97W for 12V DC. While I don't have FB MESSENGER, any meaningful feedback you may be able to offer is Greatly appreciated. Many Thanks & Blessings, Paul
@gonagain
@gonagain Год назад
I am unable to test mine with the solar panels today because it's snowing, but I tested it with the AC charger and mine reads 187W input on both sides. You may want to send yours back.
@pauls.2308
@pauls.2308 Год назад
@@gonagain I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to respond. I have 2 days left to decide here, and I'm getting information from multiple sources; however, nobody has been able to test a solar panel and give me quantitative feedback about the numbers produced on both sides using only one panel (alternating between the two). I understand if you cannot- due to snow and whatever other factors you may be managing- but if you can test a panel on both sides and give me your data that may prompt the return or confidence with keeping it. Even if you are only getting a few watts, if what I am experiencing is normal you should see at least a couple watt difference between the two inputs using the same panel. Anyway, as I said originally, I am gratefully surprised to have e received your reply! Thanks Again!

I bought the 1800 watt unit. That said here is what Oupes isn't telling you until you read the manual. 1. The unit come with (1) wall charger. The fast-charging option requires you to purchase an additional charger for $130.00. 2. If you want to charge with solar panels you have to buy their proprietary panels. For the full 400 watt charge capability it will cost you $1000. That's $250 per 100 watts. Solar panels (100 watts) these days can be had for about $100. They say if you do not use their panels, it risks damage to the unit. Nothing about this is offered in the advertising. You find out when you read the manual page 8. So, it looks like Oupes is offering a less expensive unit but making it up on the other end by soaking you for the needed accessories. What else is new?

I don't want to deal with having electric things to deal with. My question, is a smaller 100 watt panel worth the time for me to get living and traveling around Montana? Silly question but wondering if I really would benefit from going that direction. Happy travels my friend 😊.
@gonagain
@gonagain 2 года назад
Hello Gator. The portable 100watt solar panels are designed to hook directly to a portable power station, because they already have a controller inside to keep the battery from being over charged. To hook one to your trailer's battery youwould need to install a controller to protect your deep cycle battery. They're not expensive at all. Here's an example: amzn.to/3s8uQdw That one is a 20 amp controller and would handle 2, 100 watt panels. My suggestion is that you install a panel on your trailer's roof because I think that's easier to use. Something like this would fill the bill, but I don't know about the quality of this system. You'd have to read the reviews on it: amzn.to/382AXJN
