Thanks for tuning back in Bimmer Bros! We were gone for longer than we wanted but the good news is we finally got into our new shop! In today's upload we tackle the overheating issue with our E12 528i. We rebuilt the cylinder head and put it all back together only to see it get very hot very fast! so the only logical solution was to revamp the 40 year old cooling system. This was a frustrating yet satisfying episode to make because we are one step closer to driving this thing daily!

Hey you guys are always so gracious and polite, always expressing gratitude to your friends or anyone who has helped you out, truly a rare quality these days and it's so refreshing. Big bro is a smart cookie with the calibrations and his e34 ride looks awesome. Now I could be wrong but shouldn't the spray pattern on the injectors be even conical fan shaped rather than direct downward spurt? Either way, I'm sure running seafoam through them should have freed them up some. Great work guys, looking forward to the next instalment. 😎👍

Thank you for the kind words! 🙏 We definitely aren't going to take any of these opportunities for granted and will let it be known that it is always appreciated when people trust us with their cars. And yes my brother is a super genius when it comes to finding alternative ways fix things! As far as the injectors go, we have tested a couple dozen with the same result, we are thinking that maybe it's because these use single pintle/solenoid openings as opposed to multiple in the later cars? We can taste later ones to see a result!

The E12 is my favorite BMW, period. I wish you lived near me (Connecticut) because I would be limited in my ability to perform the work that a used E12 would require.

If you ever find a car transport heading to California we would happily work on it for you! The E12 is definitely one for requiring more work to get running right unlike the newer models (even the E28) that are much easier to get back up and running. The m30 is such a perfect powerplant for it might i add!

Great video love your stuff. I have a 84 528e and remember once it would get hot and then come down to cool. The thermostat wasn’t opening all the way. Also that drain plug on the side of the block let’s out tons of debris and whenever I’ve drained it I’ve had to bleed it more than once. I don’t know how you guys feel about Genuine BMW coolant, but I found it to be better then the knock off stuff, although opinions vary on that. Thanks again for the great videos! Happy Thanksgiving! We will always recommend genuine for most if not all things related to these cars. While it may not always be absolutely necessary there have been times where things like aftermarket abs sensors just don't play well with the system and will start throwing codes! We really appreciate your comment and your support 🙌

Hey that's awesome you can flip the transmission cooler line! On the manual version without the transmission lines I just used the e28 535i hoses and radiator. The right side mount even lines up pretty nicely. That last clip of it running it definitely sounded like all 6 too. Now that is becoming road worthy i can't wait to see how this car progresses. So stoked to see you getting it sorted out. My car is at a point where its a bit terrifying, i actually got a realistic daily driver now so I'm not as concerned if i push it, at 25psi its pushing through the tires in third gear. 😅
