Nice. I've been impressed by Petzl's gear, I own a Petzl tactikka core and it hits all the buttons: high/low illumination and , most importanly, a red light. I really love the dual power source: the rechargeable battery and ability to use some AAAs (always carry spare batteries people!) makes this a perfect choice. Recently I've been looking to add another headtorch and looked at Fenix, they make great torches (like olight too) and considering the Fenix HM65R shadowmaster (high/low/red lights), only thing is these use propietory batteries which might be an issue. Great overview Sam. I still use my Tikka XP that I bought back in 2015, but these newer models offer increased brightness. The only problem I see at the moment is that all of these models that have a rechargeable battery the connection isn't the more modern USB type C?
That is a shame for sure. especially with Type-C dominating the market now. I believe that its to do with the depth of USB-c the battery isn't deep enough to accept it
@@tauntonleisure I guess they'll need to change soon though because of the new EU directive regarding the adoption of USB-C and charging of small to medium size devices. Anyway, that aside, who doesn't need more light! +1 for the ever expanding Xmas list!
Might be a idea to mention the difference in power usage, Tikkina 150lux at 100lm is 60hrs. Actik core at 100lm is 7 hrs !! Ok bit of difference in meteridge range , But a lot of battery range difference.
Afternoon Markus, The most noticeable difference that may be beneficial is the increase in brightness. We have seen an increase from 350 Lumens to 600, while maintaining a similar burn time from the core battery.
La lampe peut s'allumer dans votre sac et vous n'avez plus de batterie pour votre bivouac. Les réglages de serre tête sont en plastique de mauvaise qualité: ils cassent. Je déconseille cette lampe.
@@tauntonleisure Thanks for your reply, but I just now checked Petzl's website and here in the USA it still says 3 YR Guarantee as of April 26th 2022. Maybe it's different for other countries? Is it possible they didn't update their website? I kind of find that hard to believe with a multi-million dollar company. Especially when it's something to be proud of!! I just ordered a new Petzl actik core with 600 lumens. My old Actik core with 450 lumens is still working after 5+ years but it's pretty beat up and rubber button top has worn away but she still works with a piece of Scotch tape on top 🤣and get this I'm still using the SAME battery it just won't burn as long before needing a recharge.✌️
