In this episode the Boys get their a$$es handed to them by the Long Portage and Ayden also goes missing for a short period prompting a hasty search and rescue mission. It was a very LONG Day.

In defense of the young sternsman. I have a theory. The bow was way to heavy and the stern to light. This makes keeping the canoe straight nearly impossible and is very exhausting. And with this condition. A tail wind makes it way worse. Just ask my brother after 40 years of paddling. In addition packs must be kept out of the wind

Thanks for commenting, we'll need to work on that for our next trip. While It's true, maintaining an improperly trimmed canoe can be exhausting, especially in heavy wind. We may have been able to cross load gear to give them something heavier for their stern, but we were all struggling to find that sweet spot in this tail wind (it's not on camera, but I had my bowman stop paddling all together and simply lay down mid ship to reduce the weather helm while traveling down a few of these lakes).
