DUDE!!! We stayed at Fort Charlotte on the Pidgin together! I can't believe I just stumbled across you! SO COOL! Awesome video! I'm subscribing for sure!
@@TwigsBackcountryOdyssey That's CRAZY! We had a blast that night and THANK YOU GUYS so much for cleaning up the portage.... I would have hated having to wade through Poplar Creek with all my gear! I'm glad you found this channel. Stay tuned for the video of entire 210 mile challenge which should be out by October! Much aloha 🤙🏽
I've Never used those as tinder before. Little bit of chaos, lotta bit of memories. Congratz johnny boy on the great outdoor adventure and proud to see ayden as a sternsmen. Look like yall had a blast.
Appreciate your work here. Very few brain tanning videos show the extraction of the brain and actual use of the brain for brain tanning. Thank you, now I feel more comfortable using deer brains in my next tanning project. Also, your philosophical approach is helpful here. Thank you again!
This is exactly what I did this morning, went hunting for Morels and found a bunch of pheasant back instead. And I got about 20# of them, so I get to share them with my family and neighbors. 😊
I really like these! But you gotta get them young, or else they're a bit tough for my liking. I will say that they impart a superb flavor to any broth - a great ingredient to throw in for extra umami flavor.
"better than morels" is a bit of a reach. The general consensus is that pheasants back/dryads saddle is a consolation prize when you cant find anything else tasty to bring home
Timing the harvest is important... I've noticed that later season pheasant backs have a more potent taste that's less appealing by far. Try some in the early spring and let me know if you think it's any better.
"Only good days!" Great saying! I enjoyed the report - repairing the trailer, the weather while on the water, navigating, running the expensive canoe over the rocks, the prayer before you left and then seeing the voyageur canoe...cool times!
Thanks for watching, I'm glad you really enjoyed the video. We really had a blast out there, it was a memorable time and we still talk all about it in our family.
😅 I think your right. I'm taking your advice and breaking away from work in search of an adventure! I'll attempt to put a video together on the whole thing but I can't wait.
@@pardon_this_1 Oh No! Dont blame me! 😂 I had just watched a group of individuals who did a trip from rainy lake to superior and I will say it is an intriguing route. I was in the BWCA for my first time last year and I love it there. One of my first thoughts was I want to paddle from end to end. This trip might be it!
@@escapewithjay You are more than welcomed to sign up! I know you'll do very well on this challenge and even make it look like fun from time to time. This will be my third time on this route and I can't wait... Maybe I'll see you there?
@escapewithjay there are several categories to include solo or tandem... Your team may even consist of several multi-person boats. Check out www.watertribe.com/ for more info. Everyone there is super friendly.
Thank you so much for showing up at the seminar and allowing me to get to see it from your perspective. It was great meeting you and hopefully we can share stories of more of our journeys in the future.
You are so very welcome. I absolutely loved the presentation and your story. I can't wait to see you guys this August... Four years since my last challenge is too long.
Thank you so much! I got some ideas planned for this year... I'm really excited for September when we canoe the length of the Boundary Waters. Stay tuned, I have some great stuff posted for you all! Cheers
Excellent Current River videos! Great history, wildlife, info, and tour of the cool sites to see along the journey. Skilled canoeist, nice gear, just beautiful Ozarks. People please stop littering and be respectful and responsible! 1️⃣❤
There are outfitters that provide shuttle services but they're not cheap. I called up a local fishing guide to the area who was very helpful in setting me up. Let me see if I can find my trip notes and get back to you.
I reached out to Bill at Bill's Scenic River Guide Service who was amazing in helping me to plan this trip. I arranged for my shuttle service through Running River Canoe Rentals out of Salem. They also have camp sites available if you need to plan a night of rest before heading out on the river. I hope this helps... Let me know how your trip goes.
I made an apron from a contractor garbage bag and some baling string. It's lasted three years so far. I did my first "real" brain tanned deer hide this year. Turned out good so far. I haven't smoked it yet but it seemed to work pretty good. Mine had ticks too and his neck was all tore up. Looked like tick bites or bot flies or something. Got to say with all the crazy sh!t with deer these days I might go with pig brains next time. I've had good luck with soy lectithan , soap , and veg oil. I've heard the smoking is what actually tans it and the fat liquor is a lube that keeps the fibers seperated while softening. I wanted to try it the origanal way at least once.
Voyager here, enjoyed your trip Isaac. Glad you got your dad up there to experience part of your 2 previous Challenges. I'll be doing the Voyager's Challenge in about 2 weeks.
Aloha Russell! Wow... I was just talking about you guys and the challenge to some coworkers! My new duty assignment prevents me from getting out to do the challenge... I sure do miss it though! Please pass my Aloha along to the whole tribe... I will be there with you all in spirit!
Hah... I'm glad you recognized it! I picked it up in Peru a week before this trip and love it! Hope you enjoy watching this as much as I had making it!
It really was... To both statements. I hope you enjoyed watching the series...I've come to really appreciate what some people go through to create and share their videos.
Thanks for watching and the compliments! I'm thinking I may plan a white water trip sometime soon. I'll let you know what I come up with. What's your paddling ideas for this year? Anything big?
@@pardon_this_1 I have a couple ideas for the year but they are maybes at this point. Now that I have a 1 year old its tough to leave on a whim! I will will be making good on a couple promises to take my younger brothers out. one on the mississippi the other to the boundary waters. Should be a great time
@@pardon_this_1 we are putting in at lake One. I have a deal with an outfitter there for use of a canoe. (Sold my canoes to buy my kayaks for my mississippi trip) Just going to put in and head a few lakes over and set up base camp. Hope to do tons of fishing!
You saw one of the wild horse herds of Shannon County. In 2017 there was a flood and the water got up to the little store there at 2 rivers. It was bad.
