Thank you! There are so many ppl giving advice who eat, sleep, and obsess about fitness and try giving average people advice that just isn't realistic for most, so we are trying to bridge that gap.
@@RobertJakobMusic thank you. Yes, it was my understanding he is a certified nutritionist as well. They usually make good money etc the whole world should have learned what those nutritionist did and then some!
Everyone seems to be so concerned about lack of protein when in fact most are deficient in fibre. I think we should shift our focus from protein to fibre. 💪💪💪 Also wondering if you get caluses on your hands and if so do you leave them or keep them trimmed. Take care, Paul. 💚🌱💪🇨🇦
I think staying committed to heath and fitness is easy once you start, it makes you feel so friggin great😆also watching you two with all your tips makes it much more simple. iv been a vegan for 3 years and also been into resistance training, and when you start to see results in the mirror and feel great every morning it's a no brainer!!🙂
I’d like to get back into bodybuilding, (I did a bit for several years quite a while ago), but I was off for a hip replacement and recovery, then covid… I have been in martial arts for 28 years, but as I’ve aged, my range of motion is restricted in my shoulders. I’ll be 70 this November. My MA training is not as vigorous as it was, but I still enjoy it. It’s nice to mentor too. I enjoy watching you two “youngin’s”. You are a quite inspirational. I’ve been vegan now too for over 5 years. I hope to join a gym soon, and maybe get a trainer again. (Damn, but they are expensive)! - Well worth it though..
Great video! The good energy makes me smile-it is contagious and inspiring! Side note: Crystal is especially radiant wearing that color :)…And it complements your black & gray, and the lighting on your wall…visually appealing-soothing and uplifting at the same time.
Excellent video! Do you think you could possibility do a video on increasing push up and pull up numbers sometime? Im having trouble increasing my numbers on those exercises? Thank you again for another great video.
Really love this Q&A-style vid. I like how you guys really feed off each other and add to the other's comments. I'm a huge fan of weighted isometrics that I mix in with various pilates, karate, yoga and Muay Thai stages/poses. I've not missed a single day in over a decade. I think isometrics are highly underused, especially for people who want to improve balance!
You guys are so positive and helpful that this is the only channel that I watch the inline commercials. 😆 I'm wfpb at age 54 and 6 years ago I started the Mcdougall diet. I did it to lower my cholesterol LDL dropped from 120 mg/dl (high being over 100) to 70 (ideal). I also fixed weight, blood pressure and resting heart rate. All are still healthy values. I'll keep up on bulgarian split squats at a minimum and do Lsits and handstands some, also. Cardio is a recumbent stationary bike.
I’ve really enjoyed the variety of different videos recently! Your both so positive and naturally entertaining to watch even in these sit down videos. I hope you both have an amazing day!!
@@Simnettnutrition I really enjoy the day in the life videos because they remind me to go outside and enjoy nature. The more scientific videos are great too, like the nettle and beetroot crystal videos. I think a video that highlights some of the main health benefits of a vegan diet would be good. So things like how plant protein is lower in bcaa so there is a lower activation of mTor, etc. I know a lot of people who fear a vegan diet because they think it will have a negative impact on their health so a video on the longevity benefits could be useful.
Excellent answers and great video! I focused solely on calisthenics for about one year at the beginning of the pandemic, but as a bigger guy I really struggled...I've since returned to my first love of weightlifting and there's no looking back 🙂
I would love to ask if you all have some tips on building up your cardio. I've always been terrible at all things cardio. When I try to run my heart rate shoots up, my lungs start to hurt, and it takes a while to catch my breath. But I can walk practically indefinitely, which doesn't seem to be helping my cardio. I know it's holding me back in my weight lifting at this point. Anyhow, ❤️ you guys. 😘
It is a real breath of fresh air to see a man that doesn't get caught in the bigger=better loop and just being really active and focused on what they want to do without the ego lifting mindset. Really excited to see Crystal getting into calisthenics as well! God bless
I’m curious of your thoughts regarding the Vivo Life Whole or Thrive products. I’m pretty sure you’re more interested in getting your nutrients straight from the food source (not processed), but I’d still like to know your thoughts. I’ve been trying to incorporate more plant foods into my days by making smoothies with vegan protein, fruits, and vegetables and have wondered if the Vivo Life (and other brands) products I mentioned are worth considering. Thanks for the awesome videos!
Yes food first, supplements second. I like to supplement protein because it bumps my very low protein post workout smoothie into one with 30 grams! As far as the other nutrition in Whole, if you struggle to have complete meals due to work or time, it can certainly be helpful. Thrive is more of a multi vitamin/greens powder and I would probably choose to eat greens and take their multi-vitamin instead of that... but again, if someone isn't eating enough greens it might be a good idea for them.
Vocês são tão fofos juntos! Fico sempre esperando aparecer a notificação dos seus vídeos, muita energia positiva, eu adoro! (You are so cute together! I'm always waiting for the notification of your videos to appear, a lot of positive energy, I love it!) Hi from Brazil, lots of love!
Nice! Thank you. Yeah, it would be easy to crank out a full day of eating each week but I like variety too. Next week back to the old programming. Haha. We will see.
over the past few weeks i have been watching your older video's and i must say that i really like them. in every video you make your energy shines through and that is what i love the most.
Just want to add, it's good to look at the muscles and see the range of motion, but it's even better to just quickly google what actions the muscle does... The bicep actually does help in shoulder flexion, forearm supination and elbow flexion. So performing all 3 of those movements and/or resisting all 3 of those movements (straight arm extension like in a back lever) will develop the biceps in the best way possible. This works for all muscles. Training them for shortening AND for lengthening or in a constant lengthened state. BONUS: Eccentric contraction - Lowering weight creates the most tearing or muscle damage Concentric contraction - Raising the weight or shortening the angle of the joints worked will build the most speed/power and actually have a lower level of doms High reps is better for tendons and ligaments (10-25 reps) Lower reps is better for hypertrophy of the muscles (6-9) Very low reps is best for pure strength/power (1-5) Hope this helps!
1. Thank you for saying you don’t focus on protein!!! I’m honestly tired of being given so many answers to how much I need and it’s frustrating. 2. You are so lucky to have friendly people at your gym! In NorCal, no one even gives eye contact let alone say hello…that’s ONE of the reasons I now work out in my home gym. 3. You said to find something you love to do to keep going-I think that would be everything for you, Derek!! Lol.. Thanks for showing AND sharing your tips and tricks~it’s very much appreciated guys!! ♥️♥️
I love this video! especially the tips/reasons you are committed. I have a membership to my yoga studio and know that my yoga can improve if I add in some weightlifting...but I am not able to invest in another gym membership. Do you have any videos of at home workouts I can do with smaller weights? (I have 3lbs/5lbs/8lbs) or can you point me in the direction of a good video? TY!!!
Great inspiration, thanks for the useful feed. I love how you guys stay active outside of your workouts. Also I am glad that you mentioned cordyceps, helps me so much, as I go caffeine and stimulant free in my preworkout mixes :)
Its nice to see a slim more petite woman like Crystal gaining muscle because normally girls are just happy to be thin but they forget about muscle! I really enjoy this q and a videos. Thanks :)
I loved this! You guys are my favorite. Definitely the best well rounded vegans on YT. I use your recipes the most- easy, normal, simple and tasty! I've been vegan for about 3 years now- progressively more whole foods vegan and lifting weights again for the last year. I've lost about 60lbs in the last 2 years. I feel amazing. Thanks for your continued great content!!!
@@Seajunkie It's not nosy at all. We just do this full time. From the outside it may seem like it isn't very time consuming, but it definitely is a job as much as any I have ever had. Crystal handles lots of the stuff in the back end, taxes, paperwork stuff, emails, some editing, keeping me positive and motivated (full time job in itself lol), and I usually handle the content, dm's, comments, coming up with ideas, recipe testing, etc. I also share lots on instagram and try and help as much as I can in the DMs there. Social media eats up a lot of my time but I think it's important to interact and not just be one of those 'influencers' who is unreachable, although I can't get back to everyone, I try my best. It definitely pays our bills but by no means are we rich, but we are happy, fulfilled and feel very fortunate to be doing this.
I found you guys this year. Thank god! I go from the new videos to the very old ones. It's cool to see how much you have changed....especially Crystal😲 Wow girl! The message is always consistent, good food and information. My goal is a muscle-up. Long way to go , but I'll get there👍
Love you two. And the kitties are adorable too . Crystal … wow your guns ….. gurl cannot believe how fast your physique has changed . okay Mr D your the bomb too but I had not seen your before and watched your progress from boom to BaBoom lol 😝. Anyway Crystal so you do health coaching ? I need help . Lol and training what do you and Mr D advise someone starting heavier and not muscular at all . Where do I start cus I tried to do dips and even got bars like Yours and lmao yeah not pretty ! Thanks for any advise and bless you both !
Hey D & C...we love your videos...can you add a "vegan chili" video your list of things to do. My wife & I make our own version but have a feeling yours will be much better.
I'm sure it took a really long time to pull all those clips together, not to mention filming them all in the first place. People just don't know -- like your muscles, you two make it look easy 💗 very inspiring
Your gym is empty where is every one .. many folks do a lifetime here in the USA club many classes shred kickboxing barbell yoga etc It’s great to do floor work w a friend makes it fun and ho by fast 💨
I’m 42 and just started exercising after losing 90lbs. I’m so sore after just a few simple things on my floor. Any tips for us older more out of shape people to get started?
Amazing video, the wife and I really enjoy how you both bring health and nutrition together. Keep these videos coming. Can you put one together on nutritional cost, it would be nice to see what you guys are paying with these high prices. Again, I am so glad that early this year I came across your channel. 💪
We have a bench and a rack and free weights in our finished basement (my husband uses it) as well as a rec center membership. My biggest hurdles are a plan and worried about poor form. I like the idea of filming and I can do that in my basement easily. I'd love a recommendation for a plan. Especially from Crystal as I know she's aware of how your cycle can impact your workouts.
