I had a date once while, driving through an exclusive area, he said "there is black family living here,I wonder what they do for living" just because its a high earn area does not mean black people can't live there and to question their source of income?😠 I told him right away turn the car around and take me back home and he thought I was joking. But I meant it and he took me back. I won't take such nonsense. Our people work hard too and we deserve a good life.

It is a John Crow reverse psychology they use calling us angry black women..they know it stings at us to get us upset to validate calling us dat, because they want to spread propaganda that we are not humans with feelings like them, BUT ..HELLO, God made us with thick melanin that can handle and survive anything, and that is part of the jealousy of them hating us. Black people psyche and physique is sexy and built like Teflon.. black don't crack..our hair can be styled in so many different ways, our beautiful endowed buttocks is making them want the same, our melanin pops and they go to tanning beds. Young black kings and queens--know how others wished they were created like us. RAW TRUTH, that they do not like to confront, but use racism and prejudice to keep us down, yet we still rise in all circumstances. . .ironically, we respect all races why many blacks marry all races and endure the racism from their inlaws and extended non black family members..love, peace and happiness to all mankind on God's earth. 🙏🙏🙏🙏 💘💜💛

Adanna....every Black woman who watched this video has experienced SOME racism in their lives. There were NO words needed when you rolled your eyes....I felt it in my soul and the sentiment resonated with so many of us. No words were needed.....your message was loud and clear. I could feel and see the tears of hurt well up in my eyes, and as you were sharing your experiences with racism, the tears were flowing and I couldn't stop them from falling. The hurt is REAL, but we still rise and live out our God-given purpose and destiny through it all. I wish I could just give you a hug to let you know I share your pain. I respect you so much and praise God for the blessings He has bestowed on us as strong Black Women. We can do all things through Christ Who strengthens us, and I have faith, the Most High will make things right in His own time. Thank you so much for sharing this and allowing us to see EVEN YOU....that none of us are exempt from experiencing this sickness and mental illness of Racism. Stay strong Sister....we shall overcome!! I love you!! ♥

Not by hate or bitterness or trying to get even. Humility comes before honor and God forgives those who forgive others. Hanging onto resentment or trying to get even is not the way Christ tells us to be. Love overcomes hate and casting our cares on the Lord -- letting go and letting God have it causes peace and prosperity. Otherwise youre helping the devil

I had the same situation at a dealership. I bought a car at a different dealership. I went back to that dealership and asked to speak to the manager. Showed him my sales receipt and said this is the amount of money you missed because of your racist employee. He called that employee over and questioned him in my presence. The employee stumbled. I did not stop there. I wrote the manufacturer. They bought my contract and gave me a very substantial discount on a new car. Economic power is something we have to show them.

Two things: 1. Do not give your hard earned money to racist - you never should have bought the car from that dealer. 2. Adana, you never should have sat down when the receptionist told you to sit down. You allowed her to be in control. You are a beautiful couple - I love your honesty. Here is a story: I lived abroad in the 70s and was going to be disrespected in a butcher shop, I am a Black ( Afro Caribbean) Woman with an Angela Davis hairdo and this white person comes into the butcher (to whom I am speaking with; ordering food for our home with three servants) and orders two chops, like I am not there! Now, since I had a large order, under normal circumstances, I would have said to the butcher, go ahead and help her. No, I said to her in her language, “ look at my face and never, never forget it” and continued with my order. She left the butcher. On another occasion, she came in, saw me and turned around and left. Fast forward, a white colleague who was returning stateside, had a farewell party. Where? This same woman’s home. When my colleague introduced me, this same woman said, “oh, yes we have met, how are you and welcome”! This happened close to 50 years ago and I learned a lesson - people see your black face and immediately designate you to a subservient. ADANA, YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO BE UPSET AND ANGRY!

The same thing with the adults when I coordinate activities for adults they will give you this bitter face (I will say in my mind "men you are on holiday and am here to make your holiday fun") which always make me to ask my self questions . I simply told them no.... if I’m not good enough to work for you then my black face is definitely not good to promote you business. The thing that upset me more is when I found out that they got rid of me because I’m a refugee from west Africa 😢. The boss told another colleague that they should not allow refugees in the company. That really broke me because I give my all in my work. Thank you for this video.

I’m from NYC so you can imagine everything that I’ve been seeing, experiencing and listening to. I’m 57 years old and while I haven’t dealt with active racism on a daily basis, I’ve gone through enough to know that people, Mankind, need to wake up. Racism in any form is intolerable but there’s also religious persecution happening. Racism is a problem world-wide, but in this country, it’s rooted 400 years going back to slavery. I’ve always found it difficult to reconcile that the US is big on talking but not practicing what is preached. The first few lines of out Constitution mentions that “all men are created equal” but when it was written; blacks weren’t seen as equals. There are still many white people here who still believe, in 2020, still believe that blacks aren’t equal. I’m tired of it. Just speaking my mind. I love you guys! ❤️

I’m glad you had the circle of friends and David. I left Nigeria at 19 for my first degree in Italy. I was very shocked when I experienced my first discrimination. I would go to class and no one would sit on my row in class, no one wants to be in the same group(the prof was frustrated one day and asked them why, they said because they don’t think I know the material, aka I am dumb). My class mate would marvel each time I got a cum laude and ask how I did it. We were only 2 blacks in a class of almost 60 people. I was depressed for months in a row. Stopped attending classes and just came during exams. Fast forward, I finally got out of there and moved to Canada. Things are better now. I know subtle racism exists here because my friends complain a lot. The saddest part is, I have been so used to discrimination that even when they complain I start to wonder where the racism is. This is mainly because my mind have seen so much racism in life that I am now numb to it. The defence part of my mind goes: I have seen worse in Italy, what else can you do, if they didn’t succeed in driving me crazy, you can’t. When I reflect now, it seems like a very sad thing, it is a very sad thing.

Honestly, I'm tired... As an educated black woman (I just don't understand why), born in the late 50s raised in the 60s & coming of age in 70s! I not only remember the grassroots of social change, organizations like SCLC, NAACP, SNC, PAC, and men like Malcolm X, Kenyatta, Nelson Mandela and Martin King just to name a few... I also was involved in the integration of the Detroit Publuc Schools, because my parents had moved into a predominantly white neighborhood! I remember sit-in and peaceful protests to have African Studies class added to the curriculum of a predominantly white schools, or addressing the need for teaching staff to reflect our culture, or at the least comfortable with having black students in their classrooms! I remember being the only black student in my University classes, before we students got together and formed study and social activist groups! The limitations I've experienced in Corporate America, not because of my abilities, but simple because I happen to be a black woman, are far to many to showcase here... I've learn to work harder, smarter, and to push forward as much as possible in my life and career! I retired 5 yrs ago, reaching that illustrious glass ceiling! This pass week has weighted me down... I keep asking myself "Why, in 2020 are we still in the same place as 1960?" To watch those police officers kill George Floyd because he was a black man (I have 2 black sons) was simply heartbreaking 😢 there I said it! What didn't we do in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s to change things? I don't understand, I'm tired, I'm numb, I'm angry!!! I am also holding on so tightly to Dr King words "We must learn to live together as brothers, or perish together as fools!"

These stories of interracial relationships, just tell me how it is so important to know what you're getting yourself into when you marry interracially, especially when the relationship is between white and Black. Your partner's problems become your problems, their battle becomes your battle, you cannot stand aside and leave the other partner to fight alone. Unless the white partner understands how racism works, the Black partner is the one left to deal with the psycological trauma of racism on their own.

This is so sad. Thank you for sharing. I remember my first racism experience as an African, I was at the gym and a white lady was using the threadmill. There was an empty threadmill beside her and I was about jumping on it. Then she goes, oh! It's not working. My ignorant self thought she was being polite so I said, thanks. I moved over to another vacant threadmill and just for me to look back few minutes after, I saw another white person using that exact threadmill that was supposedly broken. Mhen, I cannot find the right words to phantom how bad I felt that day. I never went back to that gym cause I was shattered. The feeling of walking innocently on the street and seeing these ignorant people clutching their purses as you pass by. Dear black people, let's keep pushing, let's keep speaking up and let's never give up! Don't forget, the best revenge is your success ✊🏿. Awesome, guys. It’s wonderful that you’ve addressed these issues. Adanna is so self assured, accomplished and educated, that I’ve always wondered if these issues had touched you, and have wondered if racism is as bad in Europe as in the US. I was beyond saddened and even enraged that your, no doubt, wonderful uncle (I’ve seen so much of your family, so I’m sure he was) was killed. I’ve been sick since I witnessed Mr. Floyd’s public execution, because that’s what that was. You are sooo entitled to your reactions to people’s and “friend’s” insensitivity. Enough. And, you are right that white people must educate themselves. It’s not the black communities’ job to do it. The onus is on us, the responsibility that comes from all the damage that has been done to black people everywhere. And we sure as h-- have no right to tell any black person how to feel. Many of us are working as allies and support the cause 100%. There are organizations which anyone can join to do this, such as SURJ (standing up for racial justice) here in the Bay Area, California, an offshoot of Whites for Black Lives from L.A., which will guide us to be true allies, and not come in like some “white saviors”, which is the last thing the black peoples need. I’m sure there are organizations like this all over the world. I will say that we really need to do something about these systems that keep black people down. We are with you. All the way.

I'm so sorry this has happened to you. That's why I continue to say these occurrences have cause many blacks to unknowingly be suffering PTSD. How could you not be affected longterm after suffering these atrocities almost daily for life.

David, in these situations, you need to have your wife at your side, and tell these rasists, that this is your wife, and that you do not appreciate the way they are speaking to her, or how she is being treated. We all must stand up, at all times.

Bob Builder IN YOUR OPINION!! Did you not just watch and LISTEN to Adanna saying she allows David to take the lead, and represent the family, when she is being discriminated against??? (Which I’m not sure why she wouldn’t stand up for herself)....Nowhere did they say how David handled the situation, besides FaceTiming her the homes, pretty much, accepting the discrimination, or taking the babies in to the doctor, while his wife sits in the next room, 🤯. So, BEING THAT THIS IS AN OPEN FORUM, WHERE STATING YOUR OPINION, AND LEAVING A FEEDBACK IS WELCOMED, I DID!! PERHAPS YOU ARE THE ONE WHO IS IRRELEVANT.🤫

David, thank you for understanding as much as you do about our pain and Adana, my heart goes out to you for the pain and disrespect you have gone through as a professional committed to helping people who refuse to acknowledge your position simply because of the color of your skin. I love your hearts, and may God continue to bless you.

I live in canada. Happen to be only black person female who works in my work place. So we got a new director. A white male. On his first day, he walked into the room full of employees saw me ignores all other employees and starts to size me down, stares at my hair (braids) clothes etc for like 5 minutes. All eyes turned on me. It was visibly a racist attack. Left me feeling so small and unwanted. Cried on my way home. Meanwhile I'm a grown woman with a daughter. Sad sad sad the things black people endure. This is only one of many racist stories I have endured

You should not feel uncomfortable. I felt sad hearing you cried because you are a strong black woman color. You come from a culture of strong people no need to feel like you need to disappear. He is the one who proved he lacks the ability of security. You missed the opportunity to say hello good morning how are you. Never allow anyone to make you feel insecure ever. Especially a white male

I have experienced hate, discrimination, my mom was spit on in the bus multiple times on multiple days by a white American woman just because she was not American. Recently I was told by an older white man on the phone that my company needs to hire people that speak English, one told me that I need to change my name to an American name in order for people to understand when I say my name. I am not even black or brown, so I cannot imagine what people of color experience every day. This country (US) promotes their "democracy" and "human rights" around the world while they are executing and murdering their own people because of their skin color. I am disgusted and furious that I live in such a world!

David and Adanna, thank you both so much for this in-depth video. I could relate to your experiences, Adanna. It is very sad and painful to see that things have not changed for the better over the past few decades. I want to believe and hold on strongly to that belief, that this is the new season of change in society, going forward. There will be more conversations, a better understanding and greater support in rooting out systemic, institutional and person/cultural ingrained racism. All lives will only matter when black lives matter.❤️❤️❤️❤️

I’m so sorry to hear about your experiences Adanna. I see you, I hear you and I empathise with you. The test-drive one particularly struck with me because the worst case of racism I have ever experienced was at Dublin Airport! I’d booked a holiday and a rental car, only to land at Dublin in the middle of the night and was blatantly refused the car I’d paid for!! I sat at the airport and cried and because the individual didn’t see me as a human being, I ended up leaving (nearly three hours later) without a vehicle! Most humiliating and horrifying experience of my life! There are some nasty people out there.

So sorry for your experience of racism. My father went through a similar situation with the church where his money went into. The man over maintenance basically interviewed and offered my father the job of lawn maintenance over the phone(my father speaks with good diction and vocabulary) My father shows up and is turned down the job. This was so painful for him he turned away from the church. This should be the main place where racism should not exist but instead it is very prevalent.

Good stuff, thank you for sharing a very relatable experience. I also didn't know I was black until I left Africa. Take some time off this highly emotionally charged space if it's taking a toll on your mental health. Unfriending friends who you had no issues with a week ago and having trouble sleeping at night since a week ago could be a sign you may need to 'step away' from it for your own mental health. There's something like getting over stimulated by the media

Yes very powerful conversation. A good place to start is with ourselves. I notice a lot of times I see blacks treating our own in a social and business setting not a great as they treat others of a different race. It’s time for a change we are a beautiful race and good and bad is in every race stop treating people bad just based on the color of the skin.
