Some cavernous low Cs from okatvist Viacheslav Pruckich (far right) with the Bolschoi Don Kosaken Choir on this performance of "Our Father." The tenor soloist is Vladislav Mihailov.
He can sing C1 very loudly like Zlatopolsky and Alexander Ort. Probably B0. He is the best Octavist now. There is video "Why I quit singing bass" with clear D1 sung by minimum 3-4 Octavists. Dozens of thousands of Russians can sing much lower!
Awesome performance! I had the pleasure to listen to the bolschoi don kosaken choir live last december in a small church in switzerland. Amazing choir and escpecially viacheslav prutskikh surprised me with how powerful and clear his voice is.
As long as you don't use your larynx to reach those notes, no. You need to have the voice (vocal chords) for it and be properly warmed up and trained, then reaching those notes is both doable and completely harmless. :)
Listen to American Glenn Miller--he goes down to the G1 below what this guy is singing! Both great oktavists. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G1ZVSTjUnJ8.html
Aaron McCune. A different genre, but an oktavist, and fantastic singer nonetheless. Look up "She's My Rock" Aaron McCune here on RU-vid, and turn up the subwoofer! 😎
The only one I know is Zlatopolsky (some people were saying it's c# though I think that he could have exactly hit B by referencing a piano or something). There are also guys using growl and subharmonics to go that low but I dunno if you consider that valid.
I bet there are many of them who can hit the note, but I don't know if there are any who can project the note as loud as is required to meet the standards of octavist singing. I could be wrong though.
I don't really think there is a use for such a note in a choral context. I've heard Glenn Miller vocalize down to Bb0 or so on a radio interview a while back, and I've heard other oktavists and basses produce sub-C1 notes, but never on recording. To be honest, I prefer the sound of Zlatopolsky's C2 to his C1. I'd rather hear a huge C2 than a quiet C1, but it is pretty cool to hear the absolute lowest notes for sure!
@@TheOktavismChannel I agree. I am not an oktavist by any means but I am a bass, and I think that singers almost ALWAYS sound better singing the notes they can hit very well with good tone quality as opposed to notes that are on the edges of their range.
