Our Father is a good representation of a World War 2 short film should look like. The camera work and not to mention the color grading was perfect for the film's tone and feeling. Customer Craig Leonard also really nailed both uniforms and weapons. The director, Calum Rhys, did a great job with his one. This guy has some great potential. However I do feel the muzzle flashes felt a bit off. Maybe this could be fixed with some smoke elements? But now I'm just nitpicking. Overall I really enjoyed the short film, I'd love to see more content from you. Well spent 15 minutes.

Astonishing work i really enjoyed this short. The connection to the sergeant was powerful and when he died it was upsetting. Overall 9/10 only because the long shot of the perfectly paved road and field with the church looked like a modern timezone not something im WW2, however take this with a grain of salt this film was a work of art

As a opposed to what some these days think my Dad and his generation knew what they were fighting for and for that matter as experienced by many they didn't want to be where they were or see what no man young or old saw. Thanks to my Dad ( Canadian army) my uncle Paul(RCAF) And my uncle Jim (RCN) I owe a debt of gratitude that never be repaid. This film sums it up.

We've taken your feedback and everything we learned from this film 5 years ago and implemented it into a bigger and more ambitious war film. Our new film, 'Divided We Stand', is a World War I film following two soldiers from opposing sides who confront one another after becoming trapped in a Belgian barn in 1917 Ypres. You can keep up-to-date on this film on our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or website www.smashingukproductions.com. For those who didn't like 'Our Father', thank you nonetheless for at least giving it a try, we are open to all feedback, both positive and negative, so please let us know your opinions below! Camera Quality and angle of shots is beautiful. Dress is perfect, weapons are too. However i feel that some of the noises from explosions were off, and so too the weapons. Further, the way the actors were holding them wasn't too great. The kid that was shot first, his death felt as if it was somewhat put on, such as when he closed his eyes to die.. that dosnt generally happen.

Great movie, I really enjoyed it. Distance between the soldiers walking on the road should be much greater (5-10 meters). One grenade or machine gun could take them all out, when they walk so close. Besides in an open terrain like that, in that small group, they would never walk in a line like shown, but in disarray. The LMG should be in front and when they stop for the vehicle its not when they are 10 meters from it, but as soon as they see it, which would be far greater distance than in the movie. Last but not least the Sergent would never be the one to go up and check a vehicle. Besides that good job! The costumes were on point!

We were hoping for blank-firing weapons on set, however due to budget constraints we unfortunately had to stick to replicas, and thought CGI might look a little too tacky. Thank you either for taking the time to watch the film! :)

In late November I wear the heavy wool jackets these boys got on while chasing elk, super cheap, max comfort n warmth, at the local surplus store there is endless racks . Sometimes you wonder if the wool could talk what it would say.

6:25 How not to fire a Bren gun, with his left hand blocking the ejection port. Especially as, when those empty cartridge cases come out, they are hot!

Really nice to see a British unit for a change but I did spot a few random things: * the area being used to film did not look a lot like Normandy (which the sign to Caen clearly shows) * The mention of Pegasus Bridge confuses me as this would imply they were Ox and Bucks Light Infantry but they do not wear the correct kit for a glider borne unit) * Instead of a sergeant the section leader should have been a corporal (and he would never have been called sarge, but sarn't) * Weapon handling drills can be poor at certain points e.g. putting your hand under the Bren would be painful as it ejects cases downwards... * As almost every film I know I want to know how Germans carrying MP40s carry their ammunition as they have Kar98 ammo pouches. I know this all sounds really picky but I appreciate the film, the excellent cinematography, the script and the acting and will be looking for others by you.

at 6:05 the sten gunner has his finger over the ejection port. he would have jammed his gun and burnt his hand, and that's if he were lucky.

Good movie guys. The mortar scene is kinda weird, because the mortar was too close by. Everything else was great.
