RE: PAUSING, EXPRESSIONS & AIR-INSTRUMENTS:
Please be mindful that we will pause (we prefer to react in the moment & to avoid copyright strike), we will react with enthusiasm, smiles, tears, conversation, exchanged looks and air-instruments. We are expressive by nature and are truly very quirky in every sense of the word. This is who we are and this is what we’ve got to offer. We understand it may not be for everyone, but here's to hoping you all enjoy and we absolutely love positive comments and feedback.
RE: LIVE VERSIONS vs STUDIO:
Check out why we haven't uploaded any live versions... yet. They will be coming, we promise!

Morphine was all about the Lows. Low voice, low 2 string fretless bass, low sax with great drums. Totally unique and great band.

The smile on the girl at 3:55... I might as well be holding up a mirror to my own face every time this sax solo winds it's way into my brain. I so love seeing you discover this. RU-vid sucks in many ways... but this is one of the ways in which it makes life amazing.

the way you felt is EXACTLY what the feeling was when you saw them live. I miss them, they were unique and that's rare. Mark Sandman's voice is so cool and soothing. They make me feel warm, the title song is wonderful as well.

Found morphine in 1994 due to bass player magazine. Ran to cd warehouse and found good. Was blown away. I used to play it for friends then afterwards ask what they thought about the guitar parts. The look on their face as they slowly realize it was al sax taking the place of rock guitar. And mark played a very beat up bass with two strings and a slide!

Thanks for listening to Michelle!!! It was so great to see a reaction video to this, and hopefully you will do more of the lesser "pop" bands. I was fortunate to see Morphine in a small club in Washington DC, the 9:30 Club, a month before Mark Sandman collapsed and died in Italy, while performing. Both drummers, who had been with the band over the years, were on stage together. We stood and danced for hours, completely drenched in sweat, no one seated because there were no seats. Just a throng of pulsating rhythms and people, and Mark hypnotizing us all. He was a great poet and artist and charismatic performer.

NicknLex - Dana Colley usually played a BARITONE SAX, (along with soprano or tenor sax and the rare bass sax), but was also known to occasionally play two saxophones at once. 😬 They had a minimalist sound, with emphasis on the low end of things. They called their sound “Low Rock.” Very much the vibe of a jazz club or beat artist venue. Great job. 🤪

@@matttucker4042 Checked out “Super Bon Bon” (got slight Beck vibes) and “Is Chicago Is Not Chicago” wow! Stevie Wonder funky intro! Great baselines throughout. Great alternative band I had missed. Thanks so much. Kate Bush is a study. Her art pieces have so many layers. I’m asking them to just limit it to Tracks 6,7,8 - She’s out in the ocean, in the dark, cold water, falling asleep but hoping to get rescued. Then feels like she’s skating on ice (cold dreams, freezing to death?) and she sees something moving under the ice. Then she hears so many people waking her (maybe her inner voice clinging to life) and a nightmare or past life memory of a witch trial, where they throw her in the water to see if she’s a witch. So, it could all be happening in her mind, during the last moments of life. Anyway, I asked them to then play track 12 where she is reborn or rescued with renewed realizations of love. Based on Tennyson’s Ninth Wave. It’s not for everybody but Pink Floyd allowed her to use helicopter sounds from The Wall and Gilmour played on the album. Thanks again. 🤪

Dana Colley really was similar to a modern Rahsaan Roland Kirk Who has a jazz saxophone player who could play three saxophone at the same time. Just seeing Dana do it with two was just mine blowing.

I just found your channel a few days ago and I'm so glad I did. I'm a big Rush and Prog Rock fan and your videos are so enjoyable. I'd love to see you react to some of Bill Bruford's solo work. He's the former drummer for Yes, King Crimson, and other bands. His album One of a Kind Features Allan Holdsworth on guitar along with Jeff Berlin on bass and Dave Stewart on keyboards. It's a mixture of Prog Rock and Jazz Fusion with some stand-out tracks like Five G, Abingdon Chasp, and Fainting in Coils. You're big Allan Holdsworth fans so I thought you might like to give a listen to a track like Five G and see if you enjoy it. Thanks for your great channel.

And as for Dream Theatre, 'The Best of Times' is one of the few songs that gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. It was written by Mike Portnoy after his father passed away. It's an amazing tribute to him. Blessings.

Morphine's great, but probably the one baritone sax song nobody should miss out on is *Moanin* by *Charles Mingus* (it would take you about 30 seconds or less to determine whether I'm talking crap or not). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-__OSyznVDOY.html As for Morphine, apart from "just listen to all of it", the best tip I can think of would be _You Look Like Rain_ . (But you'd encounter it anyway if you just listened to everything.) If memory serves correctly, the bass on this has just two strings bass and was made in a garage - by someone who would count as a skilled luthier, though, I think. And I see in the comments there's another mention of the two string bass, so at least that part is probably right.
