Thank you for watching and HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thanks for all your support during the year, it's been a big year for us with coming to US, moving into the new boat and the big refit. Lots of work and a bit of stress but now we can look back at it and say "we did it!". You guys watching, commenting and being supportive of the project has cheered us along the whole way! Next year will have a lot more of actual SAILING, exploring and hopefully some skiing too. Can't wait!

Happy New Year to you and Sohvi, Juho. Looking forward to your adventures in 2023. The seals in the video looked like Harbor Seals. Large numbers of them are resident in the Bay area year round. The California Sea Lion, also seen in the Bay area, migrates.

With 50 years experience, it's rather hard to see what type of shaft apparatus you're using. A good rule of thumb though is that your shaft should drip through your stuffing box at least 5 drips per 10 to 15 seconds. This allows you to relax knowing your shaft is not heating up and no significant water is entering your vessel. Your hard work shows and I for one appreciate it. Fair Winds,Mark

I recommend that when you get just north of Port Hardy on Vancouver Island, that find out where Browning Wall is located on Browning Channel. It is one of the best cold water dive sights in the world, but you don't necessarily have to scuba. From sea kayaks it is easily possible to see the marine life clinging to the rock wall that goes on for a km or more. Best time is early morning with the sun shining to light the water. Also give a call to God's Pocket nearby. You may be able to enjoy a bed on shore with a hot shower. One of my favourite places for kayak camping is in that area. Also watch for the huge colony of Northern Sea Lions on the East side of Hope Island.

How beautiful for you to be underway and coming to Canada. We live on the Fraser River where there are some famous marinas Steveston and Granville Island in the harbor of downtown Vancouver should have fireworks and skiing at grouse Mountain 15 minutes from downtown. There is night skiing which is amazing to see the city and ski at the same time. If you have to pull the boat out for any reason one of the best yards is Shelter Island marina in Richmond on the south arm of the Fraser River. Ok, happy new year and thank you for your videos and sharing your journey.

You might consider replacing the rubber strips in the centreboard box will PTFE/ Teflon plates. They will not compress and have very low friction characteristics. They can also be machined to fit snuggly which should reduce the lateral movement. Good luck and good sailing.
@christophbraun5682
@christophbraun5682 Год назад
PTFE / Teflon is not good for use close to or in the water because it takes up water an swells. In marine Applications you prefer to use POM as a low friction plastic. It takes up almost no water and has good low friction characteristics. It is used a lot for keel bearings or rudder bearings.

I had the same Garcia boat from Philippe Harle. When sailing with the engine, it is very easy to block the centreboard by raising it 20 centimeters and tightening the two up and down lines. For information, there is no risk of raising the centerboard while sailing because downwind you have to sail with the rear centerboard completely down and the central centerboard completely up.Originally it was planned to inflate pads called "ride tire" to maintain the centerboard but with experience we do without! Il you need more ask me. I am on my second Garcia boat… Do not hesitate to contact me! Have a good trip
