Elvis no doubt had the looks & the talent, but he was also a very caring & humble person who had his childhood roots in the church...That's part of the reason why he recorded so many gospel songs too...He loved gospel music!!!

Elvis was such a great performer and if it wasn't for him, how could there ever be a Michael Jackson? He truly paved the way for the great performers who came after him.
@bam55sgarage77
@bam55sgarage77 Год назад
Now that is bullshit. Michael Jackson was influenced by Jackie Wilson and James Brown. Elvis was influenced by Clyde McPhatter and Jackie Wilson. Elvis was so heavily influenced by Clyde McPhatter he once said "I would give up everything to sound like him", and he tried his best to do it. Listen to (1953) Money Honey by The Drifters and you can clearly hear how much Elvis tried to sound like Clyde McPhatter.

Wow. In those days, the audience was supposed to sit still (mild quiet finger tapping ok) during the performance and clap at the end. The way his background guys move (hardly at all) was the norm. Elvis was groundbreaking and no one could sit still. I was 3-5 years old when he was at the height of his “young Elvis” fame and my older sister and cousin were mad for him. I was supposed to be taking a nap but I started slow dancing with my sister’s big cardboard poster of him instead. It was a poster of his gorgeous face. My sister opened the door and caught me and giggled.🤣

Ed Sullivan had Elvis on his show several times in those early days when Elvis wore pink suits and was a very controversial figure (among white people, for doing 'Black music' and 'Black dancing'). Ed was from Harlem during the Harlem Renaissance, so he appreciated Black culture and knew who all the good Black musicians were. He had an unusually large amount on Black performers on his show (compared to other variety shows) in the 50s and 60s, and he could tell that Elvis was doing that music justice not culturally appropriating it and turning it into 'white music.' And he always said Elvis was a really sweet kid.

Elvis' TV appearances: Most people believe he was on Sullivan first but that isn't correct -- Sullivan turned him down at first because of his movements and in Jan. '56 he went on The Dorsey Bros. show singing a great “Shake Rattle & Roll” appearing head to toe at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oXiX3cl03DE.html , then on to Milton Berle in April '56 where he & Berle went aboard the W.W.II aircraft carrier the U.S.S. Hancock to perform for the sailors, then on Milton Berle again in June '56 -- both appearances showed Elvis head to toe; he then went on the Steve Allen show wearing a tuxedo & singing "HOUND DOG" to a live hound dog, which really irritated him.. Milton Berle received approx. 500,000 PAN letters due to Elvis' performances, & altho' the comments were negative, Berle's ratings topped Sullivan. Sullivan changed his mind after he saw all the ruckus Elvis caused & so Sullivan changed his mind & said he could be on only if he's filmed from the waist up & he appeared in Sept. & Oct. of '56, then again in January. Here's a beautiful version of "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" (on Steve Allen July '56) at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iqXkSzVPdmc.html . Thank you.

I actually felt bad for Elvis because he wasn't allowed to move his body to the music back then he really needed to hold back...The next time he went on Ed Sullivan show he was actually court ordered not to shake his body...If u watch the second show you'll see where he only moved his pinky finger n was only filmed from the waist up....

I recommend doing a reaction to Elvis's performance "Gospel Production Number ('68 Comeback Special)". It's on the RU-vid channel "Elvis Presley ♪". (Just so you click on the right video.) It's one of the most beatnik things I've ever seen. It's awesome. 👌

After this performance. The media would never film him from the waist down. You’ll see as you react to other music from him during that time period that they were filming him from the waist up. His moves were too controversial. If you ever get a chance. There’s a mini documentary called Elvis and the Black Community. His moves were addressed in the documentary.

I loved this! I hope you guys get more views and subscribers! You guys have such good vibes 👍 One question: Are you guys only interested in doing live performances or are you also interested in doing reactions to studio tracks? Only reason I ask is because Elvis has somewhere in the 800 range of songs in his music catalogue. Some he sang live and some he never did. Meanwhile here is the link to another fun "early" Elvis live performance "Don't Be Cruel" (Live On The Ed Sullivan Show) m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-COFHGFZxtnY.html Just FYI: You may have to pause some during your Elvis reactions. If you have to blur out the image, I understand how copyrights and YT works. I've seen these live performances before. I'm here to watch your guys' reactions to the songs and performances. Thank you so much for this one! This was a lot of fun! Peace & blessings to you & yours 💕

Besides Elvis's charisma, the ladies went hysterically crazy for him in the 50s because the 50s is when The Sexual Revolution and the new wave of the Women's Rights movement started. Women were thirsty (pun intended) for outlets where they could kick off their shoes and have fun without worrying about the etiquette of courtship (ex. pretending not to be interested in a guy, being chaperoned, etc.), so they turned to rock music. They were realizing that women have agency and are more than just housewives and mothers. Men loved him because he was sensitive, emotional, and romantic, while at the same time he was a cool, fun guy. He was a type of man that wasn't typically represented in movies and wasn't represented at all on T.V. A man who didn't have to be macho and tough.
