The store they were working at was a real store called "good guys" back in the day. When this movie came out I was 20 yrs old working at one of those stores.

Comedy movies died around 2014, I think, even before things become more politically correct in 2016. I think the profit motives changed with big budget superhero movies and people weren't going out to movies for just a comedy anymore. 2000's was a golden era for comedy though. "Bad Santa" and "Step Brothers" being my favorite two.

The lady who did the waxing also wasn't a professional at it. They apparently was a professional and she lied to get the part. Hence why it wasn't done right.

That "song" she was singing about her Latin love was utter nonsense. My Spanish isn't great, but I could pick up that he's talking about having to go to soccer practice haha

The musical act at the end is from the musical Godspell. It is pretty much an ode to the 60's, free love. What gets lost is Steve Carrell was the only really known name. Everyone kind of took off after it. Shelly Malil, 'Cloudy with a chance of drive bye.' Is in prison for life. Not long after this movie he murdered his girlfriend.

Have you seen "Fakin' Da Funk" with John Witherspoon. Funny movie, the slam dunk contest was done in one take, yeah there is street basketball. Also, recommend "White Men Can't Jump" another street basketball movie with Wesley Snipes and Woody Harelson.

The collectibles are worth a loooot of money, specially some of the ones he had n they were all in mint condition so in a way it was understandable why he was upset altho at the same time he was using that as an excuse not to go thru it (sex). This was, if I recall, the first of many, hilarious movies made my Judd Apatow, they were quite different from the comedy movies of the time which is why they were so successful. I've seen you have reacted to Superbad maybe you can react to 'This is 40" altho not as funny as this or Superbad but still has the "Apatow" touch
