This seems like a great hunting game to do hardcore/realistic game play in. Unlike CoTW you can pretty easily track without having the highlights all the time and it really prioritizes knowledge of shot placement and of you firearms capabilities

There's 3 things I'd love to see with this game to make it about as good as it can be for what it is. 1: internal ballistics. Bullets through an animal's lungs have a habit of killing them in short order. The minimum energy requirements and lack of quick kills with smaller calibers (mule deer running almost 200m with a double lung shot from a 243 at 150yds) is a bit of a bummer for me. 2: Weapon firing. They just don't feel like hunting rifles. The lack of recoil and muzzle blast makes it seem like shooting a 22 hornet with every rifle 3: Weapon customization. This game suffers from the same thing as most, having a certain gun model only be a single cartridge, and a not having anything be customizable. I hope that this game reaches its full potential eventually, but as is it's still very good

yeah, also the sound when shooting is always the same !...that´s much better in CotW. Different bullet weighs was at least the minimum i expected !

6:46 I love this so much. I'm no hunter but from a gameplay perspective I think it's fascinating to be able to run into a previously shot animal, of course in combination with the herd mechanics makes for such an interesting experience! Looking forward to Tuesday! Edit: I hope you'll do a video on the highest difficulty at some point. Really curious to see what you make of it since you have RL hunting experience.

Really late reply to your comment but I shot and killed a deer with a single shot but found out that I had previously took a shot and hit its tail bone long before I killed it so there is a ton of detail in this game

@@NoFatChicks01 Yeah in the meantime I've been playing this game for over 100 hours and yesterday I harvested an animal that had 3 shots. It was one of the mission animals and it proved difficult to track it down and get a good shot, but finally I got it. 😂

I think it would be pretty cool if the animal selling prices fluctuated depending on how much of that animal you shot recently. It wouldn't be something that would be super drastic immediately, just something to kind of help spice of the game a little bit. It would give good incentive to shoot something other than deer.

Awesome video....I do question the weight of the whitetail in the game. A mule deer can go 300+ lb. but all these 300+ lb whitetail, I don't know. Been hunting 40+ years and my biggest was 190 field dressed. Just curious what other thinks....Rock on Flinter

I agree that there should be more of kick from shooting a rifle. I also wonder if it’s less to show the audience the different animations they have worked on to add the realism with an animal being shot. Either way the game looks amazing and thank you for showing us and giving us your honest thoughts about the game!

I can't wait til bow hunting is added, very strange that its not already in the game, i have no idea what bow hunting DLC would be and how it would work I'd love to see reactions of getting shot with an arrow, jumping the string, maybe doing a flip an take off running. I do only wish deer would stick up their tails when they're spooked

At 10:20 I wonder if the meat loss was related to the shot placement in that a gunshot that hits the femoral artery destroys the leg it hits I know because my worst shot to date was a femoral artery shot where the deer dropped and didn’t move dead on bullet arrival somehow that hind quarter was destroyed with nothing to salvage

I gut shot a deer with my recurve IRL facing towards me but a little quartered away because I knew I could take the shot and I didn't. after waiting 6 hours because my arrow had gut shot smell. When I came back that deer ran 15yds because the angle went through the femoral artery from a bad shot that turned into a Lucky shot. Never heard him fall. Tons of blood. Glad they have that detailed.

yo flinter i understand it's early access and you showing us the most you can anyway , can you make a test for the difficulty lvl hunter and we can see the difference in terms of apporching animals and such? cause can't wait to play this game on the 3 rd lvl instead of explorer and adventurer

My only complaint I've seen so far (This game to me looks amazing and a huge step up from COtW) Is how your character automatically starts racking his next shell which makes it hard to see through the scope after your shot. I want to see how the animal reacts easier. Also I want to be able to use an AR-15 for hunting smaller game. Like Coyotes and Hogs. Didn't see an AR listed in their weapons. Maybe a DLC for something like that in the future would be cool!

if they add AR15 they must make it useable for US map only. Hunting with AR's in Europe is very unpopular and i think even forbidden. So would make no sense if they add a Rifle you can only use on one map.

Hey man long time no see (been busy with work since 07 retail gets holiday stuff super early) anyways when you said wait what? I used the wrong gun how is this buck from the last hunt (my first thought was 🤔 but glitch) that needs to be fixed but no your like nvm were good it's from this hunt omg I was worried for a second lol yea bro me too iv'e been watching other videos about this game some have said when the shots get taken there's no reverb like in call of the wild. Me: well of course this game is supposed to be different after I watch this I'm going to get on my ps4 and maybe check it out. P.s. some said there's not enough room for trophys it's too small idk everyone i know is still messing with it but I heard this map is very large

I really wanna play this game badly I love how the bucks Jump when they have been hit by the bullet that’s as realistic as it gets into real life hunting at its finest and I love how the quality of the forest looks it looks realistic asf you know how long we have been waiting for a hunting game that is realistic as real life hunting I mean the old cabela games are still grate till this day but the quality is alright I understand because back then they people who did the cabela games didn’t really have the technology as we do now I wish they could remaster the old cabela games that would be a dream come true who agrees

Ok the render distance for the animals seems pretty good. With the right weapon, scope and ammunition I will be trying to hit some 300+ meters shots just for fun.

The render distance is 800 meters. Theoretically, you can go for 800-meter shot.

Killed a deer last fall by hitting the femoral artery in that same location. It bolted just as I pulled the trigger. Insane blood trail and died within 150 yards.

Yep, heart shot can as well as spine and some others. You can double lung one that goes 150yds or that goes 10ft

I've shot deers in the lungs that hop up run 10 yards and start bucking in place and then fall on there backs. Never seen one get double lunges and run 243 yards lol.

Irl I go for neck shots, I'd like to see you go for one in this game to see how it goes. (Yes I know some people think it's unethical, but they don't run anywhere. If you hit an artery they go maybe 5 steps or you hit spine and it paralyzes them.)

I noticed how your voice from the beginning of me watching your channel (2 years) you're voice was louder and more energetic, then middle of last year your voice sounded shy and as if you lost your voice at a American football game so badly that it lasted till this year where your voice shot up to a more normal tone, much better than last year. So, whatever you did to your voice...don't do it again🙃😁
