I'm so happy you're enjoying such an amazing loaner scope. I'm a little sad you didn't stay with your Orion Newtonian, because I used a similar 6 inch Celestron scope for visual observing for years. It made me nostalgic for my old Newtonian.

Anyway love seeing your videos, you two make a great couple and both being into astronomy is the icing on the cake. Your experience is astrophotography havevjumped 10 fold. For me its mostly visual and basically into baby steps for planetary photography and my new Evolution 9.25 is an ideal planetary scope, but if I wished could turn it into a f2 but placing a camera in place of the secondary if I wished to. This scope is future proofed. Also got an electric focuser and makes a hugh difference. Am amazed at how quick you picked up astrophotography. Was not long ago you started and amazing just how quickly you have progressed. Good gear makes a difference but at a cost, which I don't have the money to. Anyway both of you keep up the good work. Still think it was a mistake getting that 130mm scope when you could have had a a celestron Rasa or even the Evolution edge hd and got the camera to go on front and at f2 the cream of astrophotography. However what you got it was your choice, but for me, if I was into astrophotography in a big way and had money to spend would have been the RASA 9.25, minimum. On a decent eq mount

Update, my Stellarvue svx 102T gets here today . Yes it’s still smoky here in Northern California I’m a hour drive from the Dixie fire that is at 55% contained. Until I can see Polaris nothing will happen. I got the flattener for it only , I didn’t want my field of view changed. . By new moon October I’ll out at my dark sight for 4 hours on Andromeda with my asi 294 mc pro. I want that awesome image that people get . Have fun....

Hey no way here I am looking for a nice apo in the 100mm range. Saving up Big. And I see your video pop up. Hmmm interesting but yeah anyway I’m looking at 3 scopes. The skywatcher at 2500$ no need field flattener, the stellarvue svx 102 3000$ that needs a 500$ field flattener or the go big or go home tel vue np 101 nagler petzval apo no need flattener at 4000$ . Living in California I’d drive to buy them because of the tax . Road trip . My question is being that I have a asi294 mc pro and a canon t6i and the awesome eq6r pro mount would I see the difference in images in the Chinese made skywatcher compared to the other two . Yes the one you got to borrow is a monster but The glass is the same . Thanks for another great entertaining video . Nice that you add some humor as we all pull our hair out during the learning curve.

Great stuff , superb scope and gear , but Its just random Clouds picture its nothing , its not even real , if you like that , then shoot clouds with a DSLR at sunset youll get better image and it will be real and you will have 10 000$ more then you had . That is a better idea .

Nice scope, but is it not a downgrade? Aperture still rules. Nothing beats the celestron Rasa, at f2, the best. But thats a nice scope you got but for me a good 8 to 10" f4 newtonian would be better, more aperture. My opinion cannot be a fast big aperture scope. The Celestron rasa wins in every department now. This is what I would go for. Anyway love the gear and congratulations
@GalacticHunter
@GalacticHunter 3 года назад
I always wonder that. I mean this telescope is $3K+ when our Orion 8" Astrograph is $499.... That's something I never understood 🤔
@denodan
@denodan 3 года назад
@@GalacticHunter yeah to me a scope half the diameter a big downgrade. If I was spending 3k on a scope for photography I would not look past the Rasa and at f2 is an astrophotography dream. And are now becoming the astrophotography scope to own. I know with my Evolution 9.25, can take the secondary camera off and mount a camera on the front, giving me f2. Even the Evolution 9.25 or larger on eq mount with their large apertures beats any large refractor and possibly evrn cheaper. To me aperture and fast is king, pull in more detail faster. I know Dylan O'Donnell one of the more well known astrophotographer down in our part of the world swears by the Rasa and have some of the most incredible shots ever and can pull in detail in an incredible amount of detail in even without mount tracking accuracy if he wishes, so basically if you could, could even use an alt alz mount. Your astrograph 8" would have been better than the refractor you bought, money would have been better spent on mount upgrades, electric focuser, etc. However some people perfer the refractor, but for me it a fast big aperture wins everytime. Larger means more detail which is why professional astronomer always go faster bigger aperture scopes, pulls in more light, greater detail. While you will still get great detail with your new scope, the 8" you had would still pull in more detail and light and if about the same f ratio more detail faster. While a faster f ratio means shorter exposure times with more light, you can only, no matter how fast an f ratio only pull in so much light given the aperture of the scope. Fast f ratios means less exposure time but light gathering is still limited to size of objective or mirror. Still any lens or mirror goes well beyond what the human eye does. Sure seen great results from even a 50mm fast refractor but seen even better results of the same area in taken with larger scopes.l

@@GalacticHunter refractor are miles more expensive than reflectors hense its cheaper to make large reflectors than a large refractor. Which per inch are very expensive to produce
