Give her 6 mths and she will be so much better, watching from Roleystone Western Australia. ❤ (get the muscle mass up, remember the heart is a muscle, what you see on the outside = a wasted heart. You are right to limit movement for now to protect the heart.)

Aid workers in the 1980s were surprised to see that famine victims can be picky about what they eat. They sense that an upset stomach could be very serious for them, they don’t have the energy to be ill. So they tend to go for familiar foods.

She is looking great. I hope she is healing on the inside, too, her heart & lungs & gut muscles. I understand the need for many small meals.. she may need a brief break or longer intervals now & then.. constantly elevated insulin whilst promoting growth, can also drive inflammation. The only way we can get our older horse to eat forage in the winter instead of hay is to take senior pellets that are soaked and mix them with the forage. It has to be enough of the very tasty senior to overcome the “nasty” forage. Good luck getting her to eat the forage of whatever type. Too bad you can’t get her on grass, that is really what our senior horse prefers.

That mare is a very well bred mare. Even in her current condition, it's easy to imagine how stunning she was in her younger years because she still is absolutely gorgeous. I can't wait to see when she reaches full health again.

Wow. Just WOW. You’ve guys literally saved her life ! She looks so so much better ! I know it’s not easy but I know she appreciates being taken care of !! It's pretty normal for them to have trouble with hay at that age. My beloved old TB mare lived to nearly 35, I had her for 30 years. In the last 5 or so years she could no longer chew hay properly (she did have regular teeth work), she still grazed but I fed her a LOT of hard feed to keep her in good condition.I'm so glad Whinny came to you, the oldies still have so much life to live ❤

Strangely, I saw the first video of Whinny’s rescue just a few hours ago, I went to your page to see if there was an update on her, but there wasn’t one. I did watch a couple of your other videos though. I just got a few minutes to sit down and there was a newly uploaded update! Im so glad she's gaining weight. I can't believe she is 32 years old she doesn't look it. Have you thought about purchasing these bug's that you release in your pastures that eat fly egg's, larvae. I don't know the name of these bug's but apparently they do a great job at reducing flyes.

Yes we have. Either they can't chew it or, we have one where long hay gives him loose stool
